Maths today here too. Maths has never been DD's favourite, but as she and her mate got out of the car, I wished them luck and she said "we'll be fine" with a smile!

SugarPlum, what has your DD got next week that she is worrying about?

bigTillyMint · 04/06/2015 08:02

Clemency, my DD never eats breakfast, and anyway, cereal or toast is all that is on offer hereGrin

TheWordFactory · 04/06/2015 08:40

Maths for DD too.

Her least favourite. She told me she dreamed she was half an hour late for her English exam and when she got there her French teacher shouted 'good luck with French.'

Classic anxiety dream!

funambulist · 04/06/2015 08:49

My DS is doing Maths (Edexcel iGCSE) at the moment. He was nervous setting off as the first paper was harder than expected. He's a bit down about it as he's consistently done well in practice papers and in his mock and suspects that after all that effort he'll go down a grade for his actual GCSE. Best of luck to all those doing maths today, especially those who need a good grade for sixth form entry, A level or next academic year.

Georgethesecond · 04/06/2015 08:53

Funambulist - but as Hitler said in the video (he's seen the video?) - the A* boundary will have to come down to like 70%! So he may well be fine (Ds1 is doing the same edexcel igcse)

TheWordFactory · 04/06/2015 08:58

I gave DD the boundary comment this morning. She looked at me like 'who has told you this shit, Mum?' Grin.

She eats breakfast at school. About half the girls board so there's always a good spread available.

I think the day girls are meant to sign in for it, but I've never been charged Wink.

TheWordFactory · 04/06/2015 08:59

Maybe when she leaves this Summer, I'll get a bill for thousands? Shock.

HSMMaCM · 04/06/2015 09:07

Enjoy this week dingit. DD went to maths 'brain gym ' at 8am and should be off to her exam now.

DS1 went off with a skip in his step and a smile on his face. Maths is his favourite subject. I had to show him how to open his compass box yesterday. He's been yanking it apart, when it just needed to be squeezed to pop in open. Good at maths, not so good at opening boxes!

ono40 · 04/06/2015 09:36

Maths here too - pleaded with DS to wear some antiperspirant for the sake of his fellow students as it is very hot.

I'm expecting it to be hard based on all the other maths papers so far which seem to have been incredibly difficult. So, I will be off in an hour to pick him up armed with snacks, a cheery smile and some well rehearsed motivational phrases to gee him up for Music and Biology tomorrow.

LineRunner · 04/06/2015 09:36

Thanks, Sugar and everyone.

Yes Grin at 'geek maths'. If that's further maths, that's the one that DS finishes his exams with on 19th June. Meanwhile he still has, in order,

Maths (today)
Biology
Maths
Chemistry
History
General Studies
Maths
Physics

Everything kicked off in the Dingit household this morning. Ds had a hissy fit and crashed around as he couldn't find his French spellings, which he should have learnt by now, not ' have a quick look on the morning of the test'.
This then woke dd up who appeared downstairs dressed in her running gear for an early run since she was awake. This was when the shit really hit the fan, as it appears ds went to school with her headphones as his are broken. She won't run without music, don't want to be in his shoes when he gets in, assuming he's not in detention for failing his French test. Smile

hackmum · 04/06/2015 09:44

DD said German (OCR) was dreadful but human geography (AQA) was OK.

She has maths this morning - AQA again. Bit worried.

LotusLight · 04/06/2015 09:57

MissC, my twins like maths but even they found the first iGCSE paper hard and their teacher emailed everyone after to say it was the hardest paper he'd seen in 20 years so your daughter is not alone. Hopefully today's paper will be easier.

All calm here for English this morning but they are always very calm. I joke it's like living in a Trappist monastery here and I like it.
They only have music tomorrow after today's maths which is the easiest for them by far (they both have music scholarships to their school) and then history next week. So just about over now.

funambulist · 04/06/2015 10:37

Georgethesecond, the stuff I've read on-line suggests that the grade boundary for an A* varies from 80-82%, which, if true, won't be enough to help my DS. I'm very happy to be corrected though.

Georgethesecond · 04/06/2015 10:40

O your probably right. Have you/ your DC seen the Hitler video though? My DS was crying laughing at the accuracy of it.

Georgethesecond · 04/06/2015 10:41

You're.

smoothieooo · 04/06/2015 10:57

Ridiculous levels of anxiety in the Smooth household this morning. DS1 has managed to lose his clear bag containing pencils, ruler, protractor, compass and basically everything he needs for his non-calc maths this morning. I was trying to be very calm (but was inwardly furious he didn't check his bag last night).

DS2 came to the rescue by supplying the required stuff with a gruff 'I need it all back'. Thank goodness...

TranquilityofSolitude · 04/06/2015 11:02

Oh dear. Maths very hard apparently.

SunnyBaudelaire · 04/06/2015 11:09

well I sent dd16 out of the house at 7.20 to get the school bus to do her maths exam, she went off the opposite way to see her pony instead. I am furious. I do not drive at the moment so could not drive her in. We live in he middle of nowhere. Meanwhile, after my son had pointed out what she had done, he took the opportunity to set off for his exam on an illegal motorbike with no helmet.
I am seriously upset.

thunderbird69 · 04/06/2015 11:12

Smoothie - had similar in our house. DS realising that he didn't have a protractor last night. Managed to find a broken one in the bottom of his brother's schoolbag and sellotaped it together. I bulk bought not long ago - god knows where they all go.

Tranquility - which exam board was that?

tbtc · 04/06/2015 11:17

DS says his maths went well. He's happy.

TranquilityofSolitude · 04/06/2015 11:18

I think it was Edexcel but I'm not certain.

LineRunner · 04/06/2015 11:20

No word from DS yet. Unusual.

Ah! I hear the door...
