dingit - he absolutely loves maths, he has ASD so is very focused on the things that interest him - other subjects have been more of a challenge but I'm actually very proud of how well he has coped and how hard he has worked.

Fab dress and a beautiful dd HSMM, very wise to go for something with straps, less to worry about.

We're in Luton, we are on an edge nearish the Hertforshire countryside but still very much urban.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 18:50

SE London hereSmile

So we have the pick of a million shops but DD can't face trekking off to look so I have now ordered one from HoF for her to try and hopefully help her decide between altering mine/getting that, or more likely, having to look last minute after she's finished.

Her snooze seems to have helped and we have sat her down to do some History.

Littleham · 29/05/2015 19:02

I think I'm the only one from the South West then (only six months of my life in the Midlands so I don't think it counts).

I'm very bored to not be able to go anywhere for very long. These exams are a pain.

spudmasher · 29/05/2015 19:29

BigTillyMint, so glad you had a good experience at the alterations place. Hope your DD decides to go to her prom. They deserve to make some memories after all the hard work!

My DD worked hard all morning, then had the afternoon off as my friend came round and did a trial prom hairdo. Lovely to see her so excited talking about her future post GCSEs, college etc.

The end is in sight! It's such a short space of time, but one they'll remember forever ( I sure do remember my O levels!)

I am having a Wineand trying to be reflective and philosophical about the whole thing.

dingit · 29/05/2015 19:33

Spud, you've made me all teary, ( but I've had Wine too)

ErrolTheDragon · 29/05/2015 19:38

I'm in the north-west.
Odd boots, my DD is going to do those subjects too, though she's having second thoughts about the comp sci. It was her reserve choice, she'd wanted to do systems&control but unfortunately her school seems to have rather abruptly gone from being very pro technology to totally dropping it beyond ks3. Maybe it's because of funding or maybe it's the exam specs being changed but it seems like a poor show.

auntpetunia · 29/05/2015 19:50

Another northerner here! Independent state of Liverpool.!

Ds gone off to scout camp for 2 nights. Being picked up early doors Sunday so he can revise, no exams Monday, so hoping he gets back on track, though he's been in school for 4 hours today doing science and graphics.

OddBoots · 29/05/2015 19:55

Comp sci is the only one I'm not completely sure about although ds seems keen. He is going to a one week thing in Cambridge in July to give him a taster just to be sure.

auntpetunia · 29/05/2015 19:55

Another northern here, independent state of Liverpool to be exact.

Ds has been in school last 2 days for 4 hours at a time doing maths and science. He's gone off to scout camp for 2 nights with some of his revision books, no exam for him now till Tuesday so hopefully he'll get back in the swing of revision again.

auntpetunia · 29/05/2015 19:56

Oops no idea why I've got two slightly different posts.

SugarPlumTree · 29/05/2015 20:01

The dress and your DD are both gorgeous HSM!

Very little revision has been happening here and I think getting going again will be a struggle. We're in Dorset.

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/05/2015 20:02

North Northamptonshire here but I am an exiled Scouser

HSM your DD looks lovely - that colour really suits her and she has a fabulous smile.

canny1234 · 29/05/2015 20:04

Gransteads I'm sure you're describing my small Town( village).I'm a interloper though and find it all very strange Hmm.

Trufflethewuffle · 29/05/2015 20:49

I posted a couple of weeks ago about DS2's chemistry exam where he was given the wrong paper and completed it before he noticed. He was then given the correct paper and the time to complete it.

He completed both papers in the time set for the correct, harder, paper. He thinks it was fine but I felt that something will have suffered as he will have rushed even if he thinks he didn't.

It was reported to the school examinations officer who has today confirmed that the board (AQA) have agreed that special consideration will be given.

I have read what the board publish about this sort of thing and I don't think that much difference will be made to his final mark. I just wondered if anyone has any practical experience of what sort of adjustment, if any, might be made? I would guess any adjustment would be tiny.

HSMMaCM · 29/05/2015 21:01

Truffle - at least it's been reported and the exam board have acknowledged it.

I am an exiled Scouser too! In fact was just up there visiting DM - quick tour round L1 before my train!

Spud, she was great and the workspace is fab - so light and she has made it really lovely. And easy to get to and park!

Truffle, no idea at all. DH is a DH and is very surprised if he actually completed both papers (thinking foundation and higher?) in the time given for the higher. Are you sure he only took the time for the higher paper to do both? Did he say he was finished or did they just stop him?

Trufflethewuffle · 29/05/2015 21:22

He got given the foundation paper in error and rattled through it in 20 mins. He then realised and told the invigilator who gave him the correct paper and said he could have the additional 20 mins tacked on the end.

He finished at the same time as everyone else. Unfortunately, he is dyspraxic with issues over time management so this is just the sort of thing he could do without. He just won't have realised that he was rushing and that it would have been better to spend more time. He should have spent that 20 minutes going over the paper.

Chemistry is a good subject for him, should do well but is not planning on taking it at A level so it won't be a disaster anyway.

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/05/2015 21:30

Tilly how could you be anything other than a Scouser with that NN Grin

Truffle my DD has been ill and the school are applying for special consideration for her. I agree it's not likely to make a huge difference to the final mark.

With that in mind should I be contacting the exam boards or is it right to leave it all to the school? I don't want to get to the end of the exam session and find out that I should have sent in letters/emails.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 21:37

Truffle, DH says he must be super-brightSmile Try not to worry - you have done what you can to sort it.

WoollyGrin re NN! DH says leave it to the school as they don't communicate with parents but if I was you, I would be checking with the school that they have done itSmile

Trufflethewuffle · 29/05/2015 21:37

Woolly, your DD is far more deserving of special consideration than my DS is. I hope she is feeling better.

In our case the school dealt with all formalities and I have received an email tonight showing me the board's response so it has been a pretty quick turnaround. I did email the school at the beginning to ask if I needed to do anything but they said they would deal with it, which they have. In your case it might be different as there may well be additional details which you can supply - ours was simply an in school incident.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 21:39

DD has just gone for a run. On her own. DH says she will be fine (loads of people running the route at this time) and she has her phone, but I would rather he had jumped up and gone with her (as DS isn't here to volunteer)

Trufflethewuffle · 29/05/2015 21:40

Tilly - thank you for your help. He is super bright but the dyspraxia can sometimes be a true handicap!

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 21:45

That's good that they got back to you so quickly Truffle.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 21:46

Well, it's not just dyspraxic teens that don't check their work - DS is just so pleased to have finished...

LotusLight · 29/05/2015 21:46

Special consideratoin - leave to the school. One of my daughters lost her horse - it had to be put down - mid way during AS levels. She had to drive out herself to the stables when the vet put it down etc. For her it was much much worse than losing a parent or sibling (I know how utterly weird that sounds but it genuinely was). I think the school told the exam board but I don't think a huge amount of credit was given which is probably not surprising as it was a horse not a parent. I cannot even remember now if it affected her marks. She was very very upset.
