Woolly so impressed with your DD. She will go far in life with that kind of grit and determination.

TheWordFactory · 21/05/2015 00:09

wool life throws many curved balls. You and your Dd are stars.

Exams etc will be all waiting when she's better.

SugarPlumTree · 21/05/2015 06:52

Another one very impressed with Woolly'Woolly ' s DD. An attitude like that will take her far in life. Woolly you have done an excellent job raising her Flowers

Hopefully DD will be revise be revising today for poetry tomorrow.

dingit · 21/05/2015 06:57

Hope your dd is feeling better this morning wooly, I can't stop thinking about her Thanks

JugglingFromHereToThere · 21/05/2015 07:46

Like many we have a day of poetry revision today. dd has always liked poetry, both reading and writing her own - I've always loved her poems Smile
Thinking of everyone - especially Woolley's dd

Nearly half-term folks!
We'll be half way through then ... now on 10/ 21, so 11 by end of the week

ds is doing an assembly this morning for his class - on patience
He filmed his friend learning to ride his uni-cycle and seems to think that fits the brief! I'm trying to encourage him to say a few words mentioning patience either at the beginning or end but like many boys his age (Y8) he seems to feel words are rather un-necessary Smile

AmazingDisgrace · 21/05/2015 08:52

Very reluctant poetry revision here. DS hates all poetry and thinks it's 'cringe' Oddly, I have never told him this but I can't stand poetry either and one would be suitor was swiftly dispatched aged 18 for writing me some excruciating love poem Angry

I love literature but I cannot stand poetry. Is there an anti poetry gene? Grin

Littleham · 21/05/2015 09:23

Grin Nobody ever wrote me a poem. Have you kept it? Please share it with us.

Hope your dd is feeling better Woolly and that they are getting to the bottom of what is causing her illness. Roll on half term.

Two dd's revising at home today.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/05/2015 09:24

My DD used to like poetry but having to analyse 'relationship' poems is probably killing the joy. I'm not sure how many kids this age really have the emotional maturity to 'get' some of them let alone write about them. I think I'd struggle to articulate well on 'the farmers bride' for instance.

funambulist · 21/05/2015 09:25

My DS has Maths this morning then no exams for 10 days. Yay!

TranquilityofSolitude · 21/05/2015 09:28

I used to think I liked poetry but I don't think much of the ones DD is studying. You'd think they could have found something more inspiring!

Hope your DD is feeling better today, Woolly.

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/05/2015 09:39

I'm parked outside school while DD is in taking her Maths. So far, so good. I keep watching my mirrors to see if I can see her. I don't expect her to stay for the entire exam but keep looking a the clock thinking just 5 more minutes every 5 minutes. She likes Maths and has made huge progress since starting with her teacher in Yr10.

The hospital have started her on drugs to reduce her symptoms and she had her best morning for a while today. Although reading about them they can make her groggy and drowsy in the morning. Who thought it was a good idea giving a teenager medication that can make them even less inclined to get up in the morning? GrinGrin

Good luck to everyone taking exams today.

thunderbird69 · 21/05/2015 09:45

Fair play to your DD Woolly - showing great resilience and determination, you are right to be very proud. Hope the medication works and that she gets better very quickly

Littleham · 21/05/2015 09:48

Wow Woolly. Good for her. Most adults wouldn't have this amount of determination.

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/05/2015 09:52

I know Littleham Her dad has stubborn streak a mile wide and all 3 DCs have inherited it. Maybe I need to call it "determination" from now on Grin

LotusLight · 21/05/2015 09:56

Wooly I hope your daughter is okay.
My twins too have maths today.
One was printing out a mark scheme/answer to a paper to start at 9.45pm last night so no idea what time he went to bed. Last minute merchants in this house.

Ginandtonictime · 21/05/2015 10:18

Woolley ... move your car into the sunshine ... open the windows and put a little bit of Classic FM on ... breathe deeply ... you're a terrific mum and your DD is a terrific girl ...

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/05/2015 10:23

I'm in the sunshine, with the window open for fresh air, crocheting away with Ken Bruce on waiting to shout out the answers to Pop Master Blush

bigTillyMint · 21/05/2015 11:14

Woolly, well done to your DD and you - can't believe how calm you are all being about this, you are both an inspiration!

Ginandtonictime · 21/05/2015 13:09

Math very hard, even for my two who at least one of which thought he'd get A* and the other A. Let us hope paper 2 after half term is easier.

Thankfully some of the weird questions both twins seemed to have similar answers when they chatted back at home so may be they did okay. One felt the exam board should be boycotted next year which is very rare for him to feel that strongly about anything. However if everyone found it quite hard hopefully they'll do okay. They aren't doing it for A level anyway. Sounds like MrsC's child had a similar experience.

funambulist · 21/05/2015 13:46

My DS found his Maths exam harder than the practice papers he did.

LotusLight · 21/05/2015 13:52

Yes, mine said eg the Jan 2015 paper was much easier and like earlier past papers.

funambulist · 21/05/2015 13:53

My DS did Edexcel iGCSE Maths by the way. Once again I've gone to The Student Room to check that other people found it hard as well. I swear I'm fretting more than my DS who very sensibly moves on to preparing for the next exam(s).

ErrolTheDragon · 21/05/2015 14:00

It's all about the grade boundaries, isn't it. I think with maths especially it's better for a paper to be on the hard side - if everyone can do most of the questions then too much comes down to silly mistakes.
