New thread for those of us starting the exams.

Keep calm everyone.

Got some feedback after physics Grin

The question she wanted about star sequences wasn't in it, but she could answer the question about the eye. The equations were just equations.

DD was happy with how the physics went. It was AQA p2+p3. She likes doing those calculations Wink

Next is the dreaded unseen poetry on Friday.

HSMMaCM · 20/05/2015 18:59

DD had the "chemistry atom" question in her physics paper too.

I think dd has a different exam board on Friday for English (WJEC). At least she prefers the books - An Inspector Calls and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Don't think the last English went very well (unseen poetry & OfM&M), but it really isn't her thing. At least the hated poetry is gone.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/05/2015 19:04

DD reckons the unseen poetry makes it very hit-and-miss. Some people may already be familiar with it, or it may be a poem you 'get' - or not.

mummytime · 20/05/2015 19:04

DD said AQA Physics 2 was okay, odd question about the atom, but she could do it, she was annoyed circuits didn't come up. However lots of people found there wasn't enough time because the questions were wordy. DD gets extra time so was okay.
English on Friday - Poetry, which is DD's best so she might feel most nervous. The a week off and Maths, Geog and Eng Lang, and the final Maths the week after!

Then a break, then two induction days (hasn't decided which sixth form to go to), Prom, holiday, NCS, cousin's wedding and results.

LynetteScavo · 20/05/2015 19:08

Nobody else do biology today?

From the little DS1 has said it didn't go too well.

wormshuffled · 20/05/2015 19:32

yes my DD had AQA biology and said it had very little stuff from the revision guides in it and it was loaded with statistical questions?!

ErrolTheDragon · 20/05/2015 20:08

That's odd... I thought my DD's biology is AQA, they had U2/3 on the 12th and then U1 is on June 5th. Is theirs an igcse maybe?

Just had a blow-by-blow account of the physics. DD thought the one about the structure of the atom was perfectly reasonable, because although they hadn't done it in physics lessons that's because the teacher knew it was covered in chemistry, and it was all there in the physics revision guide. About the only question she was dubious about was whether she'd drawn the right resistor symbol as there are two conventions (a rectangle or a zigzag) and she wasn't sure which one physicists used.

LynetteScavo · 20/05/2015 20:22

DS says he thinks biology was edexcel, but he's not sure.

HSMMaCM · 20/05/2015 20:23

Well need another thread soon Grin

My mistake sorry it was OCR biology.

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/05/2015 20:36

Hello all. Sounds like Physics was a mixed bag. Her friends who is very smart wasn't impressed. DD didn't sit the exam in the end - she ended up back in hospital. They have started her on drugs to reduce the headaches and nausea and are keeping her in overnight. She wants to go to school to sit her Maths in the morning and is currently sat up in bed revising Shock I am so bloody proud of the way she is handling this. I don't give a stuff if she doesn't make it into school. I love her to bits for just trying. Smile

Eve · 20/05/2015 20:36

DS did edexcel p1 and found it really hard.

Used lots of words in questions he didn't understand & none of the sure bet topics came up.

HSMMaCM · 20/05/2015 20:42

Woolly your DD is fantastic.

OP posts:
spudmasher · 20/05/2015 20:44

I'll bet your proud, Woolly. She is amazing. Thanks

mummytime · 20/05/2015 20:45

Regardless of how your DD does Woolly her attitude speaks highly of her! Make notes so you can help sixth form tutors include it in their personal statements.

I hope the Doctors do manage to do something to help her.

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/05/2015 20:46

She certainly is HSM as are all our DC. It is an incredibly stressful time for young people who are just walking bags of hormones and emotions. Grin

DD is pissed off because her prom dress arrived this morning and she can't try it on until tomorrow.

bigTillyMint · 20/05/2015 20:56

Woolly, you are right to be proud of your DD - she is amazing! What a fantastic attitude she hasSmile
DH reckons the teachers will have to make an assessment based on predicted grades for any exams she misses.

Horsemad · 20/05/2015 21:04

Your DD is awesome Woolly. Smile

Doobydoo · 20/05/2015 21:06

Fab daughter of Woolly!

Bearleigh · 20/05/2015 21:29

Can I add my admiration of DDWoolly?

Haven't spoken to DS yet but iGCSE Physics (Edexcel I think) was 'hard', per DH. Don't know how he feels about the Greek. He some some of the poetry some (carol Anne Duffy) he despises. Let's hope there are enough questions on the ones he likes...

Twirlwirlywoo · 20/05/2015 22:18

Wow your daughter is amazing Woolley. I hope she gets better soon x

auntpetunia · 20/05/2015 22:20

woolley your DD. Is amazing hope the hospital can work out what it is and help her recover. In the meantime I'm sending you both virtual hugs and Cake

ErrolTheDragon · 20/05/2015 22:32

Best wishes to your DD Woolley. I hope she's well enough to make a good stab at her maths tomorrow. Is she supposed to have anything on Friday too? Poor lamb, its so bloody unfair.
