Cringing at the thought of see through tissues spudmasher.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/05/2015 16:07

Like the Labour party campaign I'm thinking maybe we didn't start early enough with this revision thing! (on eve of first real week of exams) But they had lessons until Friday and I guess all recent school work and homework has been revision based?
Hopefully it will work out OK?!

Littleham · 10/05/2015 16:08

Could gain an unfair advantage by writing the answers in nasal mucus on tissues!

Wine bebumba and try Sambucol for ds. I have been poring the stuff down dd3's throat this week to stop her catching the nasty cold that has been circulating. Seems to have worked & it may help shorten his cold.

Hope you don't have any tube strikes spud.

bebumba · 10/05/2015 16:11

Thanks for the tip Littleham. Not so sure about the nasal mucas writing! Beginning to think I shouldn't have mentioned his cold.
Hope all those young people with exams this week have a good week.

HSMMaCM · 10/05/2015 16:26

Added tissue to exam list. I have :

Clear pencil case
Clear water bottle
At least 2 black pens
At least 2 pencils
Tissues
Calculator, rulers, etc for maths and science when needed
Switched off phone in bag somewhere miles away.
Exam candidate number

What have I missed ?

A bottle of wine for yourself HSMMaCM.

LynetteScavo · 10/05/2015 16:36

Today I purchased a clear pencil case, and £10 worth on pens, because I didn't know which kind DS would prefer.

DS1 was completely underwhelmed.

It's RE first thing tomorrow morning. DS1 is not at all bothered, and has gone out for a bike ride. I have been reading his revision book, in the hope that I can pass on some knowledge telepathically. Hmm

Littleham · 10/05/2015 16:40

Eraser?

Hey fellow sufferers - been off piste for a while, but back in the fold with my sistas/bruvvas-in-worry ...

First week of hell begins day-after-tomorrow with Tuesday: Biology pm and
Thursday: Chemistry am

Then four next week ... English lit x 2, Physics and Geog

Hold tight ... here we go ...

LynetteScavo · 10/05/2015 16:45

Eraser, two pencils and a pencil sharpener here.....I don't think any pencils will be used though...do they use pencils in exams? Confused

LynetteScavo · 10/05/2015 16:46

Ooooh, highlighter for English!!!

I wouldn't have thought of that!

Ginandtonictime · 10/05/2015 16:54

For those who've been doing endless practise papers from the AQA website - have you seen this? Last year's grade boundaries: first link is IGCSE exams and second is GCSE:

Pencil is good for drawing diagrams.
This week Ds has RS tomorrow, Biology 2 and 3 on Tuesday, RS and ICT on Wednesday and Chemistry 2 and 3 on Thursday. Friday is a day of revision.
I have wondered about 'helping' him with his revision by serving alpabetti spaghetti and writing chemical fomulas etc so that he gets the message semi-subliminally.
Only 2 slight probs with this. 1) he doesn't like alphabettis. 2) i was always crap at chemistry and know no formulas!

OddBoots · 10/05/2015 17:23

Good evening. We have just double checked pencil case, I'm now sat here worrying about the calculator battery so I am sending him with mine as an emergency spare because he has an algebra exam tomorrow after his RE exam.

I'm trying to be a graceful swan.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/05/2015 17:34

Glad we have this thread it's making me smile eg. passing on knowledge telepathically and bottle of wine for yourself Wine

SugarPlumTree · 10/05/2015 17:39

So tempted to buy Alphabetti now !

bigTillyMint · 10/05/2015 17:48

Glad you mentioned the pencil case - would be good to sort that tonight and not at 8am tomorrow! Highlighter for English sounds good.

I think DD is asleep - she came in at 5 and there is no sound coming from her room!

LynetteScavo · 10/05/2015 17:54

Thank you Juggling...I already have Wine Grin

I too have had a panic about calculator batteries (exam isn't until after half term) DS dryly pointed out, his calculator has a solar panel. I then fussed it might be a bit dark in the exam hall, and suggested a new calculator and spare batteries, and suggested he ask to borrow a spare from the maths dept' JUST IN CASE. DS1 just walked off and closed the door on me.

bebumba · 10/05/2015 17:56

Are we over thinking this!! Just going to get ds to check his pencil case...

LynetteScavo · 10/05/2015 18:07

I over think everything. Apparently.

I tried to help with RE (DS1 really hates RE) talking about a random subject I'd just happened to open the revision book at, at the dinner table.

It went like this....Me; So different religions have different views on IVF.

DS2; IVF, that's what makes cars faster?...

Me; Er, no...it's when you take a sperm and an egg and put them together, y'know not when two people are...you know, together.... doing things....(can you tell I hadn't thought this through?)

Me; Catholics believe blah, blah, blah. Other religions believe IVF is OK as long as you don't waste the sperm.

DS2; So what do they do with the spare sperm they don't use?

DS1; You have to eat it.

Angry
Littleham · 10/05/2015 18:22

Grin Lynette

DD3 is currently hanging upside down swinging on an elevated bar. Shock Someone pass the cotton wool......not the night to break her wrist / arm / leg /neck.

HSMMaCM · 10/05/2015 18:38

DD has come out of her ballet exam saying "all my stress has gone now". Ummmm. More exams to come DD!

bigTillyMint · 10/05/2015 18:46

Grin Lynette and Littleham.

Well better than feeling stressed out, HSM.

DD is currently sorting her pencil case...

SugarPlumTree · 10/05/2015 18:55

I had my head bitten off about the pencil case when I mentioned it. She is still doing bugger all. Any mention of revision and she has terrible stomach cramps. She hasn't been going to most of the revision lessons. Has clearly decided she will get the 5 and no more. Lots of passive aggressiveness wafting around. I am biting my tongue but it is really really hard .
