DD's drama should be all out of the way, but she completely missed the point in one of her write ups Sad so is going to try to rework it in the next 3 days. Has to be done at school under controlled conditions though.

DD is shattered and stressed and getting very little done after school. I'm stuck between wanting her to do some science revision and protecting her sanity.

bigTillyMint · 05/05/2015 19:45

Just got a shock when I went to the loo - there are revision notes stuck on the back of the doorGrin Then I spotted them all over the houseShock Hope the blu-tac doesn't leave marks on our beautifully painted (not!) walls.

bebumba · 05/05/2015 20:27

Ha ha, we have post it notes everywhere in this house!

HSMMaCM · 05/05/2015 21:49

I stuck my notes on the back of the toilet door when I did my o levels.

dd started today.
Kicked off with a drama practical.
Can anyone tell me WHY they had to stay at school until 7pm to do this??? Surely the examiner should be expecting to come during the school day, not make them do 12 hour days (out of the house - 11hours of schooling) at this stage???

Horsemad · 06/05/2015 00:16

BackforGood, that's a bit rough for the kids Shock Feel sorry for them.

Horsemad · 06/05/2015 00:17

Hmm at Ofsted visit, how unfair! Bet their stress levels are through the roof.

SugarPlumTree · 06/05/2015 06:10

that reminds me of going to have coffee at friends last year who had just had a new kitchen. It was all lovely and sleek, apart from the 3 very large pink post it notes stuck on the cupboards with Maths stuff.

7 pm is very late for the Drama, surprised about that.

DD just had an email about her film. There were over 350 submissions, she has been invited to the screening in the US and has to provide video stills or something for their press pack and program. I am currently Shock and Grin at the same time. Not bad for the girl the Head of 6th form said recently is borderline for getting the 5 GCSE'S to get into 6th form.

Horsemad · 06/05/2015 06:54

WOW, SPT, that is AMAZING! Very exciting for her. Smile

mrsdavidbowie · 06/05/2015 06:58

My son has just broken his ankle Shock and was operated on a few days ago to have pins put in.
Taking god knows how many painkillers a day.
So I am washing/dressing him, taking and collecting from school, making food...its a nightmare!!!!

TheWordFactory · 06/05/2015 07:01

sugar that is so cool. I am well jel!

bowie that's a nightmare!

bigTillyMint · 06/05/2015 07:01

Well done miniSugarPlum! How exciting! When is the screening in the US?

dingit · 06/05/2015 07:14

That's amazing sugar plum. What a confidence boost for her.

SugarPlumTree · 06/05/2015 07:31

Oh no MrsBowie, what a nightmare, your poor DS (and you) Sad

It's showing the end of the month , finances and GCSE's aren't conducive to a trip unfortunately. I'm in trouble with DD as have forwarded the email to her photography teacher - thought she probably would never get to hear about it otherwise and think school should know as might just help 6th form application. She's woken up feeling rough this morning.

mrsdavidbowie · 06/05/2015 07:34

He's fine...in a bit of pain but coping.
Its me! Im not used to him being so needy and reliant!!!!!
Still we'll cope. Ex h is not doing anything to help either.

SugarPlumTree · 06/05/2015 07:37

Can imagine that's very hard to deal with, lots of sympathy Flowers

bigTillyMint · 06/05/2015 07:59

Oh no Mrs DB - so sorry for you and him.

My friend was telling me of a child who had been collected and returned to hospital by school staff to sit their GCSE English yesterdayShock

SugarPlum, that is not good timing. I think you're right to forward the email - if I was her teacher, I would want to know!
Re feeling rough, does she have any exams today?

Horsemad · 06/05/2015 08:15

MrsDB, it's knackering looking after them to that degree again isn't it?! DS2 broke his arm last Sept and needed lots of help dressing etc. DH was also incapacitated with a bad back at the same time. I was run off my feet looking after the pair of them!

SPT, such a shame DD can't attend, but all the best directors are unable to attend awards ceremonies, due to work commitments tell her! Wink

Littleham · 06/05/2015 09:22

Flowers MrsDavidBowie What bad timing. We have only ever had one broken limb in the whole family and I remember how much hard work it was.....shudder.

Well done to mini SugarPlum. Smile

QOD · 06/05/2015 09:52

Oh wow sugar plum and ah shit David Bowie!
Does he get done consideration for the meds and suffering?
My friends dd has whooping cough and us getting her own room and invigilator who will stop the clock if she starts to cough until she stops

mrsdavidbowie · 06/05/2015 13:40

Yes I have to phone exam lady at schools to discuss the consideration.

TeenAndTween · 06/05/2015 13:48

MrsDavidBowie Terrible timing! (My accident prone dyspraxic DD has been banned from anything more than walking until after exams!)

Back Hah! I laugh at your 7pm for Drama. DD didn't leave her drama until 9:15pm! The examiners are often other drama teachers. So they have done a whole day teaching at their own school, before zipping over to another school to examine. DD's examiner got stuck in traffic so they were nearly an hour late starting.

Went shopping today and have bought 15 small presents, one for every exam. Also had to buy the same for younger sister who is getting rather ignored at the moment.

dingit · 06/05/2015 14:57

Things not to say to them ( I'm guilty of a few)

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2015 15:05

MrsDB, I do hope they do indeed show him some consideration and that he's not in too much pain (or fogged from painkillers). Such rotten luck.

Sugar - wow, awesome! Star

T&T - 15 pressies x 2 is impressive! I've gone for practicality ... DD managed to drop the box containing her most comfortable pens down the back of a large rubbish strewn difficult to move chest of drawers; none of the shops seemed to have them so I ordered some from amazon. They came in boxes of 50 so hopefully that will see her through gcses and A levels! Grin (dead cheap pens, zebra z-sticks, but suit her little hands). DH has hopefully ordered the box set of Enterprise for us to all relax with as we're nearly at the end of Deep Space 9. (she comes home, eats and works then we watch an episode together - seems to work for all of us! Grin)

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2015 15:13

Grin Dingit - I think we should heed this comment under that piece: 'As someone sitting my A levels next week, I prefer for my parents not to talk to me at all but for them to just keep feeding me.'

Though TBF my DD actually sometimes wants to chat - just need to be careful not to stray into those no-no areas. This is where having something like a cute dog can help (or that lovely pair of piggies!).
