I think it is compulsory to study PSHE to a certain age - is Citizenship part of PHSE, and then that is what they do the exam in?!
RS/RE is also compulsory to study, and at the DC's school, they are all supposed to do the exam - was an easy one for DD last year, thank GodWink

TheWordFactory · 22/04/2015 09:49

DD does PHSE. She says it's usaully chatting about social stuff (drug use, relationships etc). They also haul in speakers.

She also does half a GCSE in RS (what is the point of that?).

DS does neither.

Littleham · 22/04/2015 10:37

My dd was asked to do an essay in RS giving the viewpoint of one religion. She chose atheism & was told it wasn't allowed. Hope she doesn't do it in the actual exam! Zero marks. Hmm

SugarPlumTree · 22/04/2015 11:05

Grin at HT's interchangeable children.

DD has PHSE but is trying to persuade teacher to let them revise. But she is so worried about Ofsted coming she isn't letting them.

BTM, DD has 4 hours of Maths today. I need to buy something nice for tea as find that softens a tough day at the moment .

bigTillyMint · 22/04/2015 11:39

SugarPlum - 4 hours of maths sounds even worse!

TeenAndTween · 22/04/2015 11:47

4 hours of maths sounds like my idea of fun!

(But DD's idea of hell).

dingit · 22/04/2015 11:47

Yes I think he must do it in form time. He has already started his GCSE options, and he doesn't have it timetabled.

TeenAndTween · 22/04/2015 11:50

At DD's school PSHE is covered in tutor time (and in KS3 also in other random lessons like drama)

SugarPlumTree · 22/04/2015 14:05

Just doing tomorrow's shopping delivery and trying to think what DD would like. She has strawberries, prawn cocktail crisps, pea and ham soup and ham and pineapple pizza . Funny combination when you look at it written down ! Lots of focus on what's for tea from her these days.

HSMMaCM · 22/04/2015 14:07

DD has asked for some lunchables. Not something she normally wants, so maybe it's a revision craving.

Dd has to have icecream! She love blueberries, so I have those for healthy snacking.
I've also bought her some multi vitamins. I know it's debatable whether they work or not, but they can't be doing any harm.

bigTillyMint · 22/04/2015 14:56

Oh dear, I haven't asked DD about what she wants to eatBlush

TheWordFactory · 22/04/2015 15:02

I think meals become a great focus during this strange period of boredom/stress.

I'm trying to find the balance for my two between bringing as much comfort into their lives as possible, whilst attempting to provide food as healthy as possible...though not always succeeding (pizza for lunch).

Both my two chew a hell of a lot of gum whilst revising. The noise! The bins! But better then endlessly reaching into the biscuit tin, I guess.

SugarPlumTree · 22/04/2015 15:59

A big thing of chewable multivits arrived here yesterday ,I figured the same as you HSM. DD has a thing for vegetable soup at the moment so I'm planning a load of that to keep in the freezer.

BTM if she isn't asking then I think you can assume what you have is right !

SugarPlumTree · 22/04/2015 16:14

Just asked DD what she woukd like as thought I should ask rather than guess. Her list is strawberries, fizzy strawberry laces, iced tea and ramen. Good thing I asked, didn't have that quite right !

SugarPlumTree · 22/04/2015 16:36

Oh dear, one of the Maths teachers burst into tears in tutor this morning, said she couldn't cope with the school anymore and walked out and hasn't been seen since. Hasty substitution for one of DD's Maths lessons. Poor woman must have been in quite a state to so that Sad

dingit · 22/04/2015 16:39

Blimey sugarplum, that's really bad. Maths teachers are about as rare as hens teeth, our academy has been trying to recruit for a year!

bigTillyMint · 22/04/2015 18:05

Oh dear SugarPlum - that is just how DD is feeling today tooSad I am making egg, sausage, beanz and chips for her!

Littleham · 22/04/2015 18:08

The stress level is sky high in schools at the moment. Poor teacher, poor children SugarPlum.

My lot are getting through lots of ice creams. But I think they need a bit of tlc during exams. Thinking about it I am getting through the ices creams as well.

DizzyDaffodil · 22/04/2015 18:09

The primary school near us has a sailing club!

SugarPlumTree · 22/04/2015 18:26

I feel so sorry for the teachers. It's a pressurised though time of year without the Head retiring and knowing that there will be a full Ofsted within the next 2 or 3 weeks.

The freezer is stocked with Soleros which are for me.

Hope DD perks up a bit after tea BTM. She must be shattered after all that science.

TeenAndTween · 22/04/2015 18:39

DD is at her drama performance as I write... Drama has been a bit up and down for her, so I hope it's going OK.

Must ask her what food I need to get in.

Can't believe the maths teacher SugarPlum

HSMMaCM · 22/04/2015 18:57

DD's form tutor walked about of tutor time in tears one day and didn't come back for a month. The class made her a lovely card and left it on her desk awaiting her return.

Oh sugar that's not good Sad.

The trouble is that teachers are under enormous stress as are the pupils and everyone can pass it back and forth like a baton.

TheWordFactory · 22/04/2015 19:13

Mine have both announced they are going in tomorrow as they both have particular lessons they want to attend. At least it will give me a chance to get some work done.

I had deliberately cleared away a lot of work so I would be available (both physically and mentally) during this period, but things are arriving that need my attention. A day without anyone else in the house will be great.
