DS is going to start revising on Monday after having a bit of a rest over the weekend. DD2 is flat out for uni finals so may have to wrestle the books off her soon as she looks very tired.

Littleham · 04/04/2015 22:46

Good luck to your dd2 for her finals NiceCardigan. Feed her lots of chocolate tomorrow. Smile

Thank you littleham and mumslife she had bit of a difficult time at the start of this year but her personal tutor has been brilliant.

mumslife it's worth doing timed essays even if they aren't marked just to see how much you can get down in the time and to help you to order your thoughts.

I'm not sure how much DS is actually doing at the moment. He spent most of today looking tired after another 18th last night. I'm taking him clothes shopping tomorrow so he will have to put up with extensive questioning about how much revision he has done while he's trapped in the car with me Smile

Dd has finally got around to deciding to do her finance application but she can't see where to go to access the form. Is it through UCAS because she can't see any links?

How she is going to survive on her own I don't know Hmm Grin

Dd has finally done her finance application (after much nagging) and also applied for accommodation. It all feels a bit like tempting fate as you have to complete it as though you are definitely going to your first choice!

DD is doing lots of revision which is more than I can say for ds. He is in Y9 and has one GCSE to do and has hardly done a thing. I can see it won't be so easy when it is his turn to go through all of this Grin

Thanks hells we will look at it tomorrow.

AmazingDisgrace · 11/04/2015 00:56

If it helps DD did her finance form a month ago. Received the approval notification and amounts within 2 weeks.

MrsBartlet · 11/04/2015 08:28

That's good to know AmazingDisgrace as dd has to send copies of her finance approval to her firm choice when we get it.

muffinmonster · 11/04/2015 10:31

Finance done here, too. Didn't take ong as DD is only entitled to the minimum maiantennace loand, so no support needed from us. It was processed quite quickly inso far as they retured her birth certificate. I don't think it's apporved yet, though DD hasn't logged in recently to check.

Visited Aston on Thursday (gorgeous spring day!) to see the accommodation and have a day out and a break from revsion. I think it was very motivating, too. DD still working well. She is breaking her revision into two-hour sessions and rotating her subjects. Apparently she never thought of doing that before. Confused She says it's a huge improvement. She seems to be working productively - lots of coloured diagrams and flow charts appeairng on her bedroom wall.

muffinmonster · 11/04/2015 10:39

Finance done here, too. Didn't take long as DD is entitled to only the minimum maintenance loan, so no need for support from me and DH. They seemed to process it quickly as they returned her birth cert within a week or so. (She had to send it as no UK passport.)

We visited Aston on Thursday for accommodation viewing. She's already made her accommodation application so really it was a day out and a break from revision. Beautiful sunny day, with Birmingham looking very attractive and Aston campus all cherry blossoms and spring leaf. Very motivating!

Revision seems to be going well. DD has taken the advice of one of her teachers and is working in two-hour chunks, rotating round her subjects. Seems obvious to me, but I think before she would just launch into the work and keep going until she couldn't stand it any more. Anyway, she thinks the new system is genius and has revolutionised her revision. Smile I think she's being productive - lots of coloured diagrams and flow charts appearing on her bedroom walls.

Feel redundant. Never mind, DS returning from DofE practise expedition this evening, so I can fuss over him. [biggrin]

Sorry about repeated post - Chrome crashed and I thought the first one had been lost.

Decorhate · 12/04/2015 08:07

Muffin we have to send in birth cert too - assume they want original?

Dd has sent her passport for renewal so we will now have to wait for it to come back before we can do the form. Hopefully won't be too long.

Fairenuff · 12/04/2015 10:13

This is quite a helpful article about what to do on results day.

Decorhate · 12/04/2015 11:20

Dd, though born and always lived in UK, has a passport from another EU country, hence has to send in the birth certificate

muffinmonster · 12/04/2015 17:14

Decorhate, yes, they want the original, not a photocopy . I was a bit nervous about sending it off, but as I say it was returned very promptly. My DD is in the same situation as yours: born here, always lived here, passport from another EU country.

Fairenuff, thanks for that link. I will study it carefully. I am so geared up for drama on results day that I think I will be quite disappointed if there isn't any!
