I just thought I'd get us started up again!

mumslife there are folders and papers all over the house because DD2 is revising - she's in her final year at university so you've got a few more years to go Smile

seimum · 02/04/2015 23:08

And then they finish Uni and come home again!

Fairenuff · 02/04/2015 23:11

I'm planning on saving quite a bit on food and electricity whilst they're away.

Mindgone · 03/04/2015 01:08

Thanks Fairenuff! He's had 'the best birthday ever'! His friends really spoilt him at school (mostly the girls!), and he was at another friend's party tonight! All his friends there without the hassle of having a party himself, result!! Grin

Worked out here that the amount spent on school and music stuff, including travel and lunches is more than we wil need to top up her loan by. And that's calculated on minimum loan, without counting the scholarship places.
And there's food, clothes electricity usage as others said - should be quids in. Another 6 years for DD2.

Fairenuff Fingers crossed for your DDs driving test. Must admit, a bit surprised when DD1 passed first time. It's made a huge difference to her, and DH is taking a bit of advantage with giving her errands and taking DD2 places this week. Guess novelty will wear off soon.

Mumslife Seem to have papers everywhere here too, as well as sheet music. Nothing ever makes a file, they are practically empty as she is so dis-organised. School stuff everywhere except DD1's desk it seems, which you can't see for empty bags, make up wipes and general clutter. Tempted to have a purge on that today if she'll let me.

hellsbells99 · 03/04/2015 11:03

DD1 loves driving - but it means you have lost control! No more 'I will pick you up at xx time', she can come and go as she pleases (if I haven't got the car).
Both DDs have had music exams this week which has detracted them from revision but hopefully revising again now.
DD1 has friends 18th tonight and DD2 also off out.

Another one here with driving test coming up - less than four weeks away. DD won't be able to drive our car, though because it's a company car and we can't add her to the insurance. And living in London she doesn't really need one to get places.

Easter revision seems to have started well. DD is aiming for six hours a day (2 on each subject0, five days a week. I"m keen for her to keep her weekends free as it's a long haul from now until June. Study leave starts on 22 May. Scared now. Shock

circular · 03/04/2015 17:54

That's late Muffinmonster Study leaving starting 7 or 8 Mmay here. DD has 2 AS retakes a couple of weeks later, then all A2 papers after half term.

NiceCardigan · 03/04/2015 18:11

DS doesn't start study leave till 22nd May either. His school like to keep them in till the last possible day.

I think my dd is doing about four hours revision a day. Still quite a while to go before the exams.

Good luck for all the driving tests.

AtiaoftheJulii · 03/04/2015 22:19

Gawd, can't imagine dd ever doing quite so much :( She finishes school on Friday 8th May and has an AS exam on the Monday!

DD doing 4 or 5 hours a day for A2 her brother doing about 7-8 for GCSE Shock I think the child formerly known as lazy boy has discovered his motivation at long last. I strongly suspect his motivation is powered by a desire to outdo DD's GCSE results

muffinmonster · 04/04/2015 14:16

Ha, amazing, nothing like bit of sibling rivalry!

Eggynuff · 04/04/2015 14:20

For any dcs turning 18 and voting for the first time this year this is a great website to help decide who to vote for if unsure.

You choose according to policy, rather than party and at the end it tells you who you should vote for.

Decorhate · 04/04/2015 15:47

Also seeing the positive effects of sibling rivalry here. S1 even said he wished we had applied to the selective secondary in next town for him. I pointed out that he was a nightmare to get to do homework in primary so practising for an entrance exam was a battle I didn't need!

circular · 04/04/2015 16:05

DD1 not been doing the 6 hours a day she had set out to do. Finding too many distractions, and is taking 3 days out for a music thing next week.
She has said she will go into school most days during study leave, as there are open classes going on where you can get help.
I think DD2 (yr7) is spending more time on schoolwork. Very much sibling rivalry too, as at same school DD1 was up to GCSEs. Determined to smash everything DD1 achieved there, although craftily intends to choose totally different options in yr9.

DS1 at a super selective, DD had no interest in the girl's equivalent so happily went to the local comp where she came out with 1 A* and the rest A other than a B in maths which she sat a year early.
DD had a good work ethic but doesn't always keep it together in exams so was disappointed to only get 1a* DS despite being very bright is also very lazy but on paper should do very well...let's see!

Unfortunately DD1 has been 2 busy partying - came in at 5am with 4 friends who stayed the night. I hope she knuckles down and starts grafting soon. DD2 is working for her AS exams

Horsemad · 04/04/2015 21:56

Hello everyone, revision being (sort of) done here. Both doing a few hours a day but having to be told to get on with it!
DS2 is quite defeatist and when DS1 got his GCSE results said "I'll never beat those"! Hmm
