Well, I filled up the other one, so here's a nice new one to get us through dropping subjects, Uni open days, personal statement writing, and UCAS applications Grin

Plenty of Wine and Brew and (nicely-intentioned) Biscuits available!

Rabbits sure you already know, looking at both here too. also have school issues with the amount of music. Physics department in particular always seem to have run-ins when lessons missed for rehearsals.

Mumslife DD has a funny idea of what she thinks is 'campussy'. Loved Birmingham, was 50/50 on Cardiff until she saw Nottingham, which she never liked at all.

circular · 23/10/2014 20:41

Currently on Watchdog, Aberdeen Uni accommodation issues this year

Decorhate · 23/10/2014 21:00

Bristol also had accommodation problems I believe

Bristol's problems stemmed from the fact they guarantee all freshers accommodation. They picked up more insurance candidates than they expected (probably due to the exam chaos).

They were great with my daughter and she ended up with her own room. The ones who ended up sharing are getting lower rents and free food until they are given their own room.

Not much homework. Revising for a test and one essay. Just as well since she is away over half term.

Big relief here. Offer from York, her favourite choice! Smile

Decorhate · 24/10/2014 17:28

Fantastic news Littleham! My d has school assessments plus the BMAT first week back. So lots of revising for her apart from her friend's 18th birthday party tomorrow night.

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 24/10/2014 17:41

DD1 does have some essays to write but it's practice practice practice for her. :( I think she has got way too wound up about this thing she is doing.

Great news littleham.
DD's ucas application has finally been sent off to ucas today and she has received her welcome email.
She says not a lot of homework but stacks of revision type work.
DD2 (yr12) has lots of homework!

Ugh, I've got the lurgy Sad horrible cold verging on chest infection. Thank God it's half term!

DS has some homework, not as much as I thought he should have. His PS has been approved, yeay! Took two attempts, so he's being a bit smug Hmm

webwiz · 24/10/2014 21:42

DS has some homework for half term but not much thankfully. He needs the extra time to actually open his highway code so he can take his driving theory test on tuesday and to read the unread books that were in his personal statement Hmm

I will have expired with stress before this year is over with.

MrsBartlet · 24/10/2014 22:11

Hurrah Littleham! We are going to York tomorrow to have a look as dd has an offer. We were already planning a trip up to Bronte country as she is focusing on Victorian literature at the moment, so we are tagging it on to that. I am very excited (and driving ds -who is 14- mad!) as I went to York and haven't been there for 21 years. I can't wait!

Dd is still ill and has been in and out of school all week (although mostly out). She has a lot of catching up to do over half-term.

Horsemad · 24/10/2014 22:15

Well done to your DD Littleham. I loved York and secretly hope DS goes there Smile

cathyandclaire · 24/10/2014 22:23

OOH Mrs B, go to the parsonage in Howarth, it is fantastic and the tea, chocolate and vintage shops nearby are wonderful too!
Well done Littleham that's wonderful news, we're nearby and York is a great place to be.
DD doesn't seem to have much homework but is catching up on reading, sleeping and facebooking

AtiaoftheJulii · 24/10/2014 22:25

Yay for Littleham's daughter!

My dd got an offer from Leeds today, so she's very happy too :)

Great news AtiaoftheJulii!

Thanks everyone, although it is an AAA offer (so quite possible to miss it with a nasty exam...still best not to think about that yet). The UCAS process is specifically designed so mothers expire with stress webwiz!

The Bronte trip sounds lovely - must do that of she goes for an offer day. I've always wanted to go to Howarth. Hope your dd gets better soon MrsBartlet. And speedy health to Horsemad too.

webwiz · 24/10/2014 22:40

We went to the Howarth parsonage in the summer - a lot of death but very interesting. DD2 was in Leeds for a year doing a work placement so we did a bit of sightseeing whenever we went to visit.

MrsBartlet · 25/10/2014 12:00

The parsonage is exactly where we are heading tomorrow and hopefully for a walk on the moors. Currently stuck in traffic on A1 but getting closer to York. DD still unwell so not sure how she will last out.

Great news Atia. It is nearly 3 weeks since dd got her York offer and she has had nothing else since. I am feeling a little impatient but dd is completely wallowing in being ill and refusing to think about anything else.

Mumslife my dd has put Cardiff down as one of her choices without going to see it so I am glad to hear it is a lively place as that is what she is after!

hellsbells99 · 26/10/2014 11:23

DD has put Cardiff as a choice.
Has anyone had or seen the Philip Allan Review magazines? We have received an email via school offering these for a certain price. Has anyone had them? Are they worth getting for any/all of the sciences? I have never seen them.
