See? Just like I said.

Thanks to Poodlechops for awakening memories I thought my therapist had long suppressed Grin

"Good morning everyone, please sit down"

Hahaha!

I remember one morning, she said "Good morning everyone....." but didnt say "...please sit down" trouble was, being creatures of habit, we already had {grin} Boy did we get a right telling off.

Who remembers the changing rooms known as "the dungeons"? I think I only ever got to go down there once, as they were only opened up especially for Primary Area Sports Day.

Chubfuddler · 01/10/2013 19:49

Present

Were those the basement changing rooms under the middle prong of the Old Building - opposite the canteen? Out of use in my day.

Oh the things that happened when I was there....

Erebus · 01/10/2013 20:06

Ah, The Dungeons. They were our change rooms in the middle school when we were in the Old Building. Used to be quite scary, especially if you happened to be down there alone. Legend has it that 'a few years previously' (of course) some girls played with a ouijah board there and apparently summoned up the spirit of a red indian- like you do.

But I still recall the whine of Debbie B, whilst down there, 4th form circa 1977, saying 'It isn't fair, you guys have got big bums whereas mine's only small and tight, I want a bigger bum'... In terms of physiological accuracy, she may have been right, but still Grin

Now, sit down everyone except for the girls in incorrect school uniform this morning!

Does anyone remember Mr Morris, the caretaker who lived in the bungalow at the school gates?.... .

OP posts:
PoodleChops · 01/10/2013 20:44

Oh Mr Morris - he even told my brother off lol! I think the next guy was Mr Green and he was nice.

PoodleChops · 01/10/2013 20:45

I think I was scarred at an early age by the large number of Bosch paintings around the corridors of the old building - especially those that had been faded by the sun lol!

overthemill · 01/10/2013 20:49

The scream! Yes. We used to hide from miss schofield in the dungeons and smoke...
Mr morris was a bit creepy wasn't he? I didn't like him, maybe cos I used to walk on his flower beds

BetsyBidwell · 01/10/2013 20:57

I think you're older than me. The outdoor pool was there though. 6th form common room in that mobile. Jon uniform in 6th form but no black skirts fgs

Chubfuddler · 01/10/2013 21:00

The pool went out of use while I was there. We had lessons in it in the first and second years and then the thing was pretty much mothballed. I wonder what happened to it?

The sixth form common room in my day was a mobile classroom next to that stand alone science lab tacked into the far end of the old building.

Erebus · 01/10/2013 21:01

We experimented with lifting up the manholes in the floor of the Old Building's classrooms to see what was there. It was the heating and water pipes etc, but set into walkways you could have stood up in; we toyed with the idea of going down there to see where they lead- except we were terrified of meeting Mr Morris!

I think we were the first year into the New Building. I recall being in N3 when I was in 1A (with Miss Easton) in 1973.

HOW many 'P' classrooms were there (the mobiles)? Was it something like P20 or 22?

And oh yes, The Scream- and <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.picturalissim.com/t/bruegel_hunters_snow_winter_l.jpg&imgrefurl=www.picturalissim.com/bruegel_hunters_snow_winter.htm&h=609&w=800&sz=187&tbnid=wlhIZ9IQ5Cm9BM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=118&zoom=1&usg=__T1NwsAHDrTUoGPnALuS337mUfWw=&docid=aKLoqL0fz0DzVM&sa=X&ei=0ClLUpTxIPOc0wX4u4HYDg&ved=0CDEQ9QEwAA" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Bruelgel's 'Hunters in the Snow'

Oh, that manky pool- in use the whole time I was there, 73-80!

The 6th form common room was in O -um- O... above the 2 geography rooms!

Chubfuddler · 01/10/2013 21:06

In my day the old building was as follows - the corridor next to the drive was maths on the ground floor, the library above. The middle prong was history on the ground and English above. The other end was geography downstairs and CDT and art upstairs. In the long central corridor were the changing rooms and more history, and upstairs was reprographics, IT and more art.

BetsyBidwell · 01/10/2013 21:10

It's new classrooms now. No slinking out the back gate.

BetsyBidwell · 01/10/2013 21:11

Chub agree. Now the rooms along the drive are history I think. My photo still up in hall.

BetsyBidwell · 01/10/2013 21:11

We still had flip top desks. Could blue tack a mirror to the inside.

PoodleChops · 01/10/2013 21:13

We used to dare each other to walk barefoot through the pond that was behind the new building - I did it and it was yuk - bleurgh. The 6th form common rooms were in the old building above Geography and in the mobile directly outside the hall. The swimming pool was in use throughout my entire time there 77 - 84. Miss Schofield used to keep very careful tabs on when you said you had a period lol!

Chubfuddler · 01/10/2013 21:13

When were you head girl Betsy? Go on be a devil.

BetsyBidwell · 01/10/2013 21:14

I was there when miss schofield found me hiding under the desk in the library avoiding pe. And when they phased out lacrosse.

PoodleChops · 01/10/2013 21:19

I used to hate speech day and the endless school song rehearsals! If we were feeling like being particularly annoying, or wanted to miss a lesson, we would deliberately sing "onwards, onwardever" - it used to drive the music teachers to utter distraction and they would keep us in the hall until we all sang and nicely enunciated thus: "onwards, onwards, ever" Wink Ooh the power Grin

Speech day was such a bore.

BetsyBidwell · 01/10/2013 21:29

Remember we had the afternoon off. And it was always fair week.

Chubfuddler · 01/10/2013 21:41

Salisbury fair .

Lol at soul. That's the sense of humour that let the for streams flow.

BetsyBidwell · 01/10/2013 22:11

And stopped the green plain failing.

Chubfuddler · 01/10/2013 22:17

FIVE streams.

Aldwick · 01/10/2013 22:25

No more sneaking out of the back gate? How do those poor girls escape?
