Waiting for DS1's Gcses results on 22nd of August. He did really well last year but, all the talk of moving grade boundaries has got me worried. Fingers are very tightly crossed for maths as this is the subject he struggles with most.

niceguy - i can see why its frustrating now. my daughter took the linear paper too last year and got a B. She was happy with that and didnt want to put in the extra effort to get a higher grade. she chose to spend more time on other subjects. Well in that case it might be worth getting it remarked.

Well done, Debs.

Re the remarks - tbh unless they want to do Medicine it won't really matter if they got A*, A or B at GCSE; it's the AS and A2 grades that will matter.

NigellasGuest · 22/08/2013 17:01

DD got B's for everything.
I suppose that means she's a good all rounder! Everyone else seems to have more of a mix.

littlemisswise · 22/08/2013 17:25

We wouldn't be going for remarks unless the school had already put them in, tbh.

Horsemad · 22/08/2013 17:34

Well Done Debs75, bet you feel great. Smile

Does anyone feel exhausted now? I do!! Have had a cracking headache all afternoon.

roisin · 22/08/2013 17:35

Congratulations to everyone who is celebrating and commiserations to those who are disappointed.

ds1 got a cleansweep of 9 A* which is pretty cool.

AcrylicPlexiglass · 22/08/2013 17:42

Wow, well done to your ds1, Roisin. That is very cool indeed (am an old timer and remember that he has always been a v v bright spark.).:)

jellybeans · 22/08/2013 17:46

Very happy here luckily. DD got really good high grades. Phew!

webwiz · 22/08/2013 18:11

Roisin DS only has a grade for maths as well with no marks - his exam board was edexcel.

roisin · 22/08/2013 18:27

Webwiz - how strange! I'll start a new thread...
Oldtimer Acrylic - did you just message me? Or is that someone else? Thanks for the congrats.

teenagetantrums · 22/08/2013 18:58

Well as expected after a year of drama and 'issues', my daughter didn't do very well highest marks were a C, and lots of fails not to worry she was one C short of doing her college course and they are taking her anyway based on the portfolio of her work they have already seen, she will have to work for the first time in her life but its looking promising. I was at the school with her today, lots of tears , felt so sorry for some of them. Glad its all over and ready to move on now.

TheHumancatapult · 22/08/2013 19:06

Remus

Ds2 is planning medicine so they resent English but he hapoy otherwise

now looking at maybe adding a 5th a level .as scored 100% in physics which not on his original list.but final say be his

TheHumancatapult · 22/08/2013 19:07

Teenage well done your Dd glad they saw her potential

AmazingDisgrace · 22/08/2013 19:30

1A 7A 2B and C in A2 Critical Thinking she's gutted not to have got the predicted As in History and RS. RS was the big shocker as that was one of the 2 B grades. However, she was stunned to get A in Physics and Chemistry

Waitingaround · 22/08/2013 19:51

Ooops listed ds's results wrong, actually 10 A* 3 A'sand an A in AO maths
V v proud, he worked harder than I ever have.

AcrylicPlexiglass · 22/08/2013 20:15

No, not I, Roisin. Must have been another old timer!

nemno · 22/08/2013 20:40

Some universities for some courses have minimum requirements of A* GCSEs eg Economics at LSE and some medicine programmes , I would remark very close calls in case they are needed in future.

Movingtimes · 22/08/2013 21:08

DD1 got 4 A (Eng Lit and the three sciences, 7A (Maths x2, German, History, Drama, RE, and Eng Lang) and a B for Music. She is a bit disappointed as she had worked really hard and narrowly missed out on As in German, Eng Lang and one Maths but overall I think she did really well. I might have a look at grade boundaries to see if any are worth having remarked though.

FeetUpUntilChristmas · 22/08/2013 21:26

7 x A and 4 x A here, all A level subjects are A so happy here

Very proud of my dd2, all smiles in our house Grin
She got 2 A* in English Lang and RE, 2As in English Lit and History.
Luckily these are her A Level choices, also got 5Bs and a C, a Distinction* in performing arts, and a merit in ICT, she worked really hard and it certainly paid off. The only upset we had was Latin, she got a D had been predicted A/B I think the other entrants got even lower, we did know it was a hard subject, but had been going well, did anyone elses dc do Latin ?

duchesse · 22/08/2013 22:39

heron, DD2 got A* in Latin. (and Greek). She got full UMS marks at some modules. Just as well though as they are two of her chosen A levels (and her main ones in her mind).

seimum · 22/08/2013 22:44

Heron - my DS did Latin Language & Civilisation (A*) and Latin Literature (A), but that was the WJEC Level 2 course, which may be different
