I've been waiting for someone to start this (was on the 2012 thread last year and am unlucky enough to have dc 18 months apart in consecutive school years!) Please join me to support and share the angst with only four weeks to go now to the first written exam.

ds1 did AQA HistoryA today - medicine.
He was disappointed with the paper and said he had to rush the last question, but listening to him describe it, it sounds to me as though it's gone OK.

But at least it's motivation for him to revise hard for the second paper! LOl

MrsBartlet · 03/06/2013 18:08

Dd thought the OCR History paper was good today. That is another one crossed off - the end is coming closer!

prettydaisies · 03/06/2013 20:56

Medicine done today. DS was mostly happy, but one question a bit tricky. A day off tomorrow and then physics on Wednesday, a cricket tournament on Thursday and classics on Friday.

webwiz · 03/06/2013 21:02

DS said it was mostly ok as well prettydaisies except for part of the public health question where he's not sure whether he was on the right lines or not. Anyway its done now - biology on wed and thats it for this week.

Casey · 03/06/2013 21:49

Yes, so good to be ticking them off!
ds1 has English tomorrow morning (WJEC), then nothing else until next week! Plenty of time for lots of American West (History) revision then!

Bit late to this but hey ho! Smile

Trying to get DS1 to revise has been like nailing jelly to a wall Hmm he's needed lots of encouragement.

He did History yesterday and said he felt it went well which he was relieved about as that was the one he was dreading apparently.

Eng Lang & Geography today. His last one is 20th June so he is counting the days now! Smile

boschy · 04/06/2013 09:25

DD1 has no exams til Weds and Thurs this week (RPE and Media) and then Mon and Thurs (both Maths) the following. Then that's it!

However, they are not on study leave and she came home yesterday bored out of her mind... cant revise all day she says, which I do kind of agreee with. god knows what they are doing in lessons!!

when does everyone's DC finish? just wondering the last date - June 20th sounds late horsemad

Horsemad · 04/06/2013 09:36

I think that's the last day of exams for his school but not sure about people in other areas.

Quite a few of his friends finish next week so his last exam is quite late I agree boschy.

Horsemad · 04/06/2013 09:38

He's been on study leave since the middle of May, school have held lots of revision periods though.

webwiz · 04/06/2013 09:48

DS doesn't finish till the 24th June, he still has 10 exams left so the end isn't in sight yet.

RussiansOnTheSpree · 04/06/2013 09:58

Dd1 finishes June 20th too. She has 11 exams left but is doing 3 today so after that it will be 8. 4 of which are maths which should be a rest cure really (she doesn't see it that way, but I can't help it - compared to geog or history or biol or chem, all of which she also still has to finish off, maths must be like the lovely fluffy moments). She has biol tomorrow, then nothing for rest of week, then next week history, chem and geog and some maths then the rest of maths. Today is a big day really, in terms of getting over the hump. The problem is chem is her weakest subject so until that is done with, she can't breath even slightly....

OrmirianResurgam · 04/06/2013 10:45

English today.

DS1 in tears Hmm For a child who loves Shakespeare he really really hates bloody &J!!

Horsemad · 04/06/2013 11:10

Oh bless him Orm - I loathed all Shakespeare so can sympathise.

OrmirianResurgam · 04/06/2013 11:28

H works at the attached Special school so he is looking out for DS1 to see who it went. Both of us are on tenterhooks - DS is normally so laid back about exams...

OrmirianResurgam · 04/06/2013 15:31

Got hold of him at last.

English was 'alright'.
Geography was 'alright' too.

Which monosyllabic replies explain why the glories of English literature leave him cold Grin

Horsemad · 04/06/2013 16:44

DS just in and said English was fine (it's his best subject so not too worried about that) and Geog - apparently he started answering a question & halfway through realised they hadn't been taught it so changed questions Hmm
THEN... ten mins from the end he realised he'd omitted to do an eight mark question so had to quickly complete Shock

For an intelligent boy he is a numpty sometimes.

sisterhood · 04/06/2013 17:17

Did anyone have Edexcel History A - Industrial Relations yesterday or Geography A - Skills and challenges? I'm getting absolutely NOTHING out of my DS who claims he "cant remember" what came up!!! Did most people's DS's/DD's think they were ok?

creamteas · 04/06/2013 18:36

DD also did Eng Lang & Geography today, and they were 'ok'. So no change there Hmm.

Nothing now till next week, and just 3 exams to go :)

RussiansOnTheSpree · 04/06/2013 18:49

DD1 is 2/3 of the way through now. 16 done, 8 to go.

sisterhood · 04/06/2013 19:12

11 down 11 to go... Sad

Casey · 04/06/2013 19:41

Phew! Today feels like a real milestone: ds1 is great at English, but really hasn't enjoyed the GCSE course, but he was pleased with the exams today (WJEC).

No more papers for him this week.
3 left (14 done). Finishes 12th June.

mindgone · 04/06/2013 19:54

Eng Lang today, DS wrote an essay on persuading a teenager to eat healthily, then I picked him up and we had lunch at McDonalds! Grin
