I've been waiting for someone to start this (was on the 2012 thread last year and am unlucky enough to have dc 18 months apart in consecutive school years!) Please join me to support and share the angst with only four weeks to go now to the first written exam.

hurrah! after 2 school days of revision yest and today, now we have the last 2 days of halfterm off... so grateful to teachers for their out of hours support, and DD1 has done it all with good grace, but god am I glad not to have to do school run for the next few days!!

Bella900 · 30/05/2013 17:14

I feel for all those going through the process this year!
Luckily I don't have any going through this time. It's good though to read all the positive posts!
I just have to go through it all as a teacher year on year which is rewarding come August!

Nor here. Well, DD1 having worked solidly through half term doing a minimum of 5 hours every day, tomorrow we have our Big Treat - we are going to see Barbra Streisand at the O2. Grin This is massive for me and both my daughters. We all adore her. DD1 is planning to revise history on the train tomorrow and when we come back on Sunday morning too, it's about a 3 hour journey so she will be using the time constructively. And hopefully she will get to relax in London tomorrow afternoon and at the concert in the evening.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 31/05/2013 23:10

Hope you have fun, Russians.

History revision offered next week, but dd think she doesn't really need to go.... She's not done huge amounts this half term, actually: I think she feels the real slog is over. I don't know: it's a fine line we tread isn't it?

I'm more worried about the history than DS mumslife - I keep saying "are you sure you know it well enough" and he does this Hmm

circular · 02/06/2013 10:42

No exams in the week ahead for DD. Revision classes in what would be lesson times for Physics, and after school for Biology. Great that school do this during study leave, but a bit awkward that there is nowhere for them to go between sessions when more than one.

prettydaisies · 02/06/2013 14:35

DS has history tomorrow - medicine. He was telling me all about childbirth in the middle ages earlier. Strange, the things he has to learn.

circular · 02/06/2013 14:43

That sounds a really interesting course prettydaisies.

RussiansOnTheSpree · 02/06/2013 15:16

That's odd. DD1 doesn't have medicine till Wednesday. It's American West for her tomorrow....

creamteas · 02/06/2013 15:43

DD has two exams this week, English and Geog, both on Tuesday.

She has extra Geog tomorrow filling the gaps the 'finished' subjects have left :).

RussiansOnTheSpree · 02/06/2013 17:47

I was wrong about medicine. That's Monday week, not Wednesday. DD1 has American west tomorrow, Doubke English and Geog on Tuesday and biology on Wednesday. Then two days off. Which I reckon she'll need!

Casey · 02/06/2013 17:57

Different exam boards have different specs and papers.

ds1 is doing History, AQA spec A.
He definitely has medicine/surgery tomorrow- paper 40401 A
Then American West the Monday after - paper 40402A

prettydaisies · 02/06/2013 19:11

DS's is Edexcel. Medicine tomorrow, Life in Germany next Monday and then Surgery in 3 or so weeks time.

webwiz · 02/06/2013 19:31

DS has the same as that prettydaisies. He's revising with a friend this evening - she arrived with a lever arch file of notes and DS has a revision guide that he's made a few scribbly remarks in.

mumslife. DD1 is doing OCR and it's American West tomorrow afternoon. The paper is actually called that according to her entry. But I guess it's one of many.

seimum · 02/06/2013 21:27

DS has inter-war Germany for History tomorrow. Then English on Tuesday & Additional Science & Additional Maths on Weds (& still 6 more to go next week, including more history)

JustAboutCoping2013 · 02/06/2013 21:35

Economics for DS tomorrow. Have been trying to work out what the pre release for unit 3 is and what it's for. My son seems to have no idea. He's watching the football now. I know he's scared, I just don't know what I can do to help. After months of trying, I am at a loss as he just has no motivation to work for many of these exams.

webwiz · 02/06/2013 22:51

I remember your earlier thread JustAboutCoping2013 - your DS has probably done quite a lot of going through stuff at school and will remember things from lessons as well. Obviously revision helps but all is not lost if he has been going to revision classes.

If he doesn't do as well as he could then maybe that will be the spur he needs to do better at the next stage.

JustAboutCoping2013 · 03/06/2013 07:57

Thank you. He has been revising since Easter, but feels he just isn't clever enough to do these exams. He wants to join the Army, has done for a long time. I was hoping he would get a bit older before joining up, but looks like I'm going to lose him sooner rather than later

MrsBartlet · 03/06/2013 09:17

Dd has OCR history today, too. Her paper is the USA 1919-1941. She also mentioned that there are other topics on the paper and you just answer the questions for the subjects you have been taught. One poor girl tried to answer every question (even on subjects they had not done) when they did their end of year exams last year - I am sure she won't make that mistake again!

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 03/06/2013 09:34

The New Deal etc here this afternoon too.... main issue today is a grumpy dd2 resentful of going off to school alone! Wait until tomorrow when dp will also be at home in the morning, the poor lamb is going to be fuming Hmm
