Has anyone heard from the South West London Independents?

Getting more and more nervous here.

Thinking especially about the Emanuel, KCS and Ibstock (well, have not done the exam for that yet so really just the first two...)

We had the KCS "no" today, but that was expected. Otherwise the post has been and gone so nothing from Emanuel. Which means that the letter is going to come tomorrow, and ds is likely to pick up the post and be all eager. Sad Oh well.

Call them, they'll tell you over the phone. Someone we know didn't get letter today either and they rang. We didn't apply, but I think it's a bit crap that they couldn't get all letters out on same day-they've had long enough!

KingscoteStaff · 15/02/2013 15:51

I can't bear it, I'm sitting here at work and the letter's on the mat!

Or in a Fulham sorting office...

therugratref · 15/02/2013 16:03

I have not heard from Emanuel, but have an offer from Whitgift.

stclemens · 15/02/2013 16:10

I can't understand why they don't just email - much easier!

stclemens · 15/02/2013 16:48

So no from KCS and Hampton here but yes from KGS (phew). Bit disappointed but I guess it was meant to be.

KingscoteStaff · 15/02/2013 19:34

DS has a yes from KCS. We are on the way out for pizza!

Now just the wait for the St Pauls interview...

Tingo · 15/02/2013 20:01

Re. Hampton - is 'congratulations, you are on the waiting list' in reality just a 'no'?

Copthallresident · 15/02/2013 20:46

stclemens NOOOOO Don't be disappointed, lovely school, happy pupils. DDs both think it is the school that seems to suit everyone who goes, more than any other school, they enable the pupils to achieve and they all love it. Wish I had not been seduced by league tables and green acres.......

PureQuintessence · 15/02/2013 20:48

Congratulations on KGS, StClemens, a friend has a dd there, she is very happy.

I am hoping we shall at least be on a waiting list, and hear something after the deadline for acceptance passes.

OP posts:
stclemens · 15/02/2013 21:22

thanks for all the advice. It was a definite no from Hampton and KCS. I do hate the feeling that DS has somehow not met a higher bar - I think it is more me than him tbh he will be happy at KGS I'm sure.

stclemens · 15/02/2013 21:24

oh Tingo I think you are definitely on the waiting list as we are clearly not!

Copthallresident · 15/02/2013 21:41

stclemens of course you feel that way as loving parent, I still feel a bit indignant Putney High didn't spot DD was a star at 4, but they missed out not her, she was way out of their league at 11 Grin KGS actually punching above their weight in terms of Oxbridge etc, likes of LEH must be wondering......

castlesintheair · 16/02/2013 09:09

stclemens, DS got into KGS and we are thrilled. It is my favourite school (after KCS) and I totally agree with Copthallresident's lovely comments about it. I have a feeling it will become one of the "much harder" schools to get into soon.

We haven't heard from Emanuel either. I only know of one who has and the DC was offered a scholarship.

PureQuintessence · 16/02/2013 09:19

We had the offer letter from Emanuel this morning and ds1 is very very happy, it was his first choice school, that and Ibstock.

stclemens · 16/02/2013 09:48

aah fantastic news! I am really happy for you PureQ.

PureQuintessence · 16/02/2013 10:05

Thank you! Smile

Marni23 · 16/02/2013 10:12

That's great news! So pleased it's worked out well for you

Tingo · 16/02/2013 12:06

Thanks Stclemens and congratulations to your DS for having a good offer under his belt. After months if prep we are on 2 waiting lists. In limbo basically.

mimbleandlittlemy · 16/02/2013 12:07

When I got home and read the Emanuel letter (just had banner headline read to me at work), I found ds has got a place at Emanuel but did not get the bursary we need so we can't take it up. He's pleased at least that he did get in even if he can't go. So near, but yet so far...

mimbleandlittlemy · 16/02/2013 12:07

Oh yes and well done Pure and all the others.

therugratref · 16/02/2013 12:36

We did not get into Emanuel- despite having a DC already at the school, pretty gutted I have to say. But hey ho they got into Whitgift go figure

Elibean · 16/02/2013 12:50

Wahey! Well done young Quint Grin

I am still wonderfully far away from all this, and full of respect for those of you who have tackled the journey and survived - your LOs too!

dd2's BF's big sis just got a scholarship to Latymer Upper...she was convinced she'd failed.

Ladymuck · 16/02/2013 14:13

"We did not get into Emanuel- despite having a DC already at the school, pretty gutted I have to say. But hey ho they got into Whitgift go figure" ShockShockShock

I would be expecting to have an interesting discussion with the Head! Stunned schools are turning away feepaying siblings....

BoringSchoolChoiceNickname · 16/02/2013 14:23

Go Quint Jr!
Haven't been on this thread as am applying in SE not SW London, but have followed your struggles and am vicariously pleased for your news. (We had good news ourselves yesterday from our second and third choice private schools, still waiting on choice 1 and Graveney but immensely relieved to have a satisfactory offer in the bag and happy to wholeheartedly congratulate everybody or wish good luck to those still waiting - maybe a MNer will get the one we're declining on Monday).
