Are you ready? What's everyone got planned for Thursday? I'm going to my school to check on results, then wait for DD to call me from her school, with her news.

It's going to be an emotional day! Possibly not personally with DD, not expecting any top results, but she does already has Maths and English in the bag. She had what she needs to move forward and that's all that matters.

I have another 120 kids at my school and one or two who I care very much about. Can't wait to be there for them.

I think I deserve a gin! Have two more DSs - I'm not sure I can ever go through this again. Mind you I may not have to; the other two seldom show signs of fecklessness.

Champneys · 22/08/2012 16:47

well i tiptoed over to the student room to take a peak, none of it made sense excpet some posts saying the OCR science grade boundaries are low and there was much excitement, so texted ds to ask which board, and of course we are doing Edexcel. FFS. My hopes were up for all of one minute.

MrsCobbit · 22/08/2012 16:49

Shame Sad DS1 claims not to remember which exam boards he did - I had to look it up on the school website!

LineRunner · 22/08/2012 16:59

I'm having a glass of wine and wondering where it all went wrong.

working on my best case and worst case predictions at the moment and practising my best "there, there it doesn't matter" sad smile, when really I'd like to eat his Reading ticket!

LineRunner · 22/08/2012 17:12

Toomuchtea, thanks, I appreciate the 'in spirit' thoughts!

LineRunner · 22/08/2012 17:14

MrsCobbit, my DD's actually away this week, so I'll be collecting and reading her results first. Lordy. Makes me feel 16 again. And not in a good way.

I know what you mean about at least being able to sob in private, Toomuchtea. I'm hoping DD will get good results as she is pretty bright, but her friends are all seriously bright and will be hopping about with gazillions of A*s. Am worried that she may feel deflated

LineRunner · 22/08/2012 17:48

If my DD passes her maths I will cry with joy. I'll just have to zone out the A* gazelles leaping around.

MaureenMLove · 22/08/2012 17:57

I'm not sure I am worried - at the moment! Grin

Haven't seen DD since last night, but she and her mate are staying here tonight, so I expect the tension will begin later.

I'm going to my own school at 10am for results, as DD can't collect until 12pm. I think seeing Yr11s at my school will be emotional and that'll get me in a tizzy about midday for DD!

I took a quick look in The Student Room, but I didn't have the energy to surf around and look for glimmers of hope. Not that it does any good. The mark boundaries might be low, but DD may have got even lower! Grin Good news that OCR Science is low though. Her coursework came out at a B, so hopefully she's scraped a C overall.

Oh well. Rememer ladies, there are no problems that can't be solved. Maths, English and Science can all be retaken in Yr12, if necessary. If your LOs have a goal in life, they will reach them, no matter what happens tomorrow. Anyone posting on here about them, clearly cares enough and therefore your LOs have parents that will support and guide them to sucess, with or without the magic 5 A*-C grades.

Lordy I've started cooking about three different dinners simultaneously and there's only me here.

Am wondering how I can get some of this energy for doing extra housework/ironing/cooking when stressed Grin

Mind, I never got that 'nesting' thing you are supposed to get before you give birth either, so perhaps I am just destined to live in a pig-sty 'homely' style of house Wink

MaureenMLove · 22/08/2012 18:46

Oh stop it, you lot! GrinWink

I still remember that sense of relief when you get into sixth form and you realise how little your GCSEs matter. I tried to explain that to DS this afternoon, but he was having none of it :o

MordionAgenos · 22/08/2012 18:50

DD1 did one physics module. She won't get the results tomorrow (not least because we are on holiday) - they get them when they go back to school. I just asked her what the name of the paper she took was. Her reply 'how do I know, mum???' complete with eye rolling. She is just 14. Sigh. I suspect there's no point talking to her about grade boundaries then (or anything else oth than the digitally enhanced episode of Star Trek TOS the kids are watching right now).

magentadreamer · 22/08/2012 18:59

DD ( going into yr11) is now convinced she has failed the English Language modules she has sat. I am hoping that she has scrapped a C grade. She sat 10 exams in total and is predicted to do well in everything apart from English. I have my fingers crossed.

Good luck to all DC's tomorrow.
