Mrs W retired some years ago. The tests have changed since her day anyway and are likely to keep changing.

tutorinneed · 29/12/2014 14:49

Thank you! what about her daughter? Heard that she is continuing her classes for 11+, is that true?

Reindeerballs · 29/12/2014 15:02

I would look on the elevenplusexams website for up to date info about the test and then decide if you need a tutor or if you want to DIY.

My DD got in with home preparation only though some of her friends went to the legendary Mrs W. She is now at university. I think the school are trying to limit the input of tutors as it has reached ridiculous levels.

Rsmom262003 · 01/02/2015 22:36

Hello,
I understand that the legendary mrs Walsh is now retired. Bt as per the messages her daughter also does the classes now and has taken over. Would it be possible to have the number form any one please ?

Kate54321 · 28/03/2015 19:22

Please can someone be able to give me contact details for Barbara Walsh, I know it may not be a surprise but having problem with getting tutors for 11+ exam for my child.

DontGotoRoehampton · 28/03/2015 19:33

Ok, sounds a bit cloak and dagger, but ask in the Hairdressers on Tudor Drive...

TeddTess · 30/03/2015 18:42

both the walshes have retired afaik

there is a Mrs Pugh i believe but i don't have her number.
good luck

ps the tutors will assess your dc and will only accept them if they are already very good at VR/NVR so get practising. it's really quite mad.

andango · 31/03/2015 13:00

How silly.

You can tutor your own child far better than someone who has never met them and has no idea of their strengths and weaknesses.

Esko · 31/03/2015 18:15

I believe the test has now changed and will no longer include the verbal and non verbal reasoning tests. Those who look to the likes of the Walshes are wasting their time.

I hope the test becomes untutorable to level the playing field for those who cannot afford tutors.

Mumof2wins · 06/03/2016 12:10

Hello! Please could anyone who has the contact number for Mrs W (Daughter), PM details to me? Will be very grateful. Many thanks

Can anyone give any feedback on Mrs Jones Tutoring or First teach please?

LondonSuperTrooper · 07/09/2016 13:22

Maryan25 · 18/07/2017 11:37

Hello everyone. This has been the most informative thread I've come across in a while. Could anyone suggest 11plus tutor in Richmond/ Kingston. Thanks

Wimbles101 · 18/07/2017 17:46

Is it helpful?! Thought the point was that the tutors recommend are no longer relevant - sorry recommendations. Having been through the process this year I've found tutors hold no particular magic.
It's all about the Maths for the grammars and making sure they are on a high level 6. Test teach has very mixed reviews btw.

Maryan25 · 18/07/2017 18:38

Hi Wimbles... Spot on!! I've been going crazy myself and yes the tutor suggested earlier has retired during the thread life.. Have you prepared any of your kids?

Wimbles101 · 24/07/2017 11:51

Yes my older sat grammars last year. It's not a sprint it's a marathon - the kids that do well are usually a year or two ahead in Maths by the time they sit the papers.
Tutors can only help in filling in gaps but they won't magically get a kid who's average into a grammar.

Latifa85 · 03/09/2017 11:20

Latifa you are looking at messages from 2011!
They do not tutor anymore and the exams have completely changed!
