After disastrous A level results today with DS, I'm quietly optimistic for DD1 who is altogether a different kettle of fish. Please come and virtually hold my hand as I rock and shake in the corner. Or take to the bottle.

A series of module results here for a Y10 DD. She has been consistently near top of year in all school exams and assessments across the board since Y7, but in modules in Jan she crashed out a teenie bit. She worked v hard for the Summer ones, but doesn't seem confident. I think the early modules were too soon and have knocked her confidence - and that is really bad in an exam situation.
Fingers crossed it is all OK and she can get it back!

cricketballs · 24/08/2011 22:20

feeling very anxious now! In fact, I have developed a very BIG zit on my forehead!

Loshad · 24/08/2011 22:23

Me too cricketballs, Ds2 has been grumpy all day though is now watching a film. Am trying to resist urge to crack open some wine, and also trying to decide whether to stay up till midnight to look at my own students results

DizzIzz · 24/08/2011 22:33

Well I am starting to dread wakening up in the morning. DD has been hit with nerves today, she is so worried. We have been for a walk at the coast followed by ice cream and then down to the gym tonight just to help pass the time. I am going to struggle to sleep tonight but it is just not possible to think of one more scenario when we open that envelope.

Good luck to everyone, this is not life and death, but it's certainly not pleasant.

cricketballs · 24/08/2011 22:48

Its not so bad for me this year re my students as I changed schools last year, so I don't feel 'ownership' so much; I am interested about my previous schools though....

naughtaless · 24/08/2011 22:52

I came home from work to a lovely clean house, my girl took her GCSE nerves out on my hoover Smile Good luck one and all.

mindgone · 25/08/2011 00:21

Thanks Fascinating creature, it does sound like yourDD must have done well, surely the school wouldn't want bad results on live radio! Pretty nerve wracking though! Very best of luck! Have got serious butterflies, really don't think I'll sleep much! DS has recently decided that he might like to do medicine, so A*s will really count! At least he'll know if it's a realistic option soon enough. Good night. Best of luck to all, and for some sleep too!

Hi, guys - I'm also on the other thread, biting my nails and chewing the carpet... DS is on his way to school to pick up results. Good luck to all today!

prettypurpledaisy · 25/08/2011 09:15

Good luck everyone - leaving in 15 mins to pick up DDs results, then onto school for my student's grades, then nail biting wait for DS to contact me with his.

YouMeandDupree · 25/08/2011 09:24

My son is only just going into year 8 this september and already I'm nervous for this day in 3 years so god knows what you lot must be feeling right now.

Good Luck everyone's DCs

sieglinde · 25/08/2011 09:26

DS got 9 A to add to his 3 A from last year, and his 2 As As. I feel stoopid to have worried Blush, and am also just about bursting with pride. GOOD LUCK to all your dcs.

strictlovingmum · 25/08/2011 09:39

sieglinde big congrats to you DS, well done, we are picking ours up at 12 today and I am on verge of trowing up now, his friend came around this morning they are upstairs playing guitars with no care in the world, I on the other had am a wreck.

sieglinde · 25/08/2011 09:44

My ds has now gone off to a shop to look at a Rickenbacker, strictlovingmum. I am so in awe that I'm letting him... thanks so much for this.

strictlovingmum · 25/08/2011 09:50

I am not even sure I care about results that much any more, I just want this agony of waiting over, damn it Why does it have to be at noon???????

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 25/08/2011 09:52

Just seen you lot on this thread too. I am STILL waiting, but according to DD2 will know in about 10 minutes......

sieglinde · 25/08/2011 09:55

Oh, Rockstock, here's hoping!

LawrieMarlow · 25/08/2011 09:56

I am realising now the pain I possibly put my mum and dad through by deciding for GCSEs that I didn't want to go in and get them when everyone else did and waited until after lunch. Then came back home slowly Grin

strictlovingmum · 25/08/2011 10:14

It's all gone quiet, anyone?????

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 25/08/2011 10:18

I am so happy I am bloody crying. DD2 got A* in RE, Geog, Catering, Eng Lit, Eng Lang, History, Biology, Chemisty and French and A in PE and ICT.

strictlovingmum · 25/08/2011 10:19
