After disastrous A level results today with DS, I'm quietly optimistic for DD1 who is altogether a different kettle of fish. Please come and virtually hold my hand as I rock and shake in the corner. Or take to the bottle.

DD1 got 9 A* and 1 A. Very happy for her.

My son has just gone off with his mates to get his results. He says he will call me but I think he will forget. I could potentially have hours to wait as they have plans afterwards... My main worry is that he gets at least a B in the subjects he wants to do for A level. A few weeks ago he said he had got A/A* in everything but last night he could not sleep as he is now very worried....we will see

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 25/08/2011 10:23

Thank you StrictLM.

Silver fingers crossed for you.

Kez100 · 25/08/2011 10:28

Fantastic results - well done to those children, yo must be so proud of them, and good luck to those still in the collection phase!

Congratulations herbietea I'm having a good cry too! DD3 who is 2½ is wondering what the hell is wrong with me Grin

silver73 · 25/08/2011 11:07

Just had the dreaded call 1 A*, 7 or 8 As and 3 Bs

strictlovingmum · 25/08/2011 11:14

Got them, collection was from 10 to 12, he was planing on going at 12 to be the last to pick it upGrin.
More or less what we expected;
Maths A
Statistics A
Biology A
Physics A*
Chemistry A*
History A* (top mark in his year 100%)
Business A
German B
ICT B
English B
Electronics and Systems B
Really please for him, he got what he hoped for, and secured place at preferred 6th formSmile

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/08/2011 11:57

DS2 has done as I expected - not fantastically well - mainly Bs. I'm disappointed, especially as in one of his key subjects he only managed a C.

Congratulations to all those who have done so well, though.

duchesse · 25/08/2011 12:03

BIWI- can he do any strategic retakes on modules he didn't do so well in?

OP posts:
cardibach · 25/08/2011 13:03

BeczuseI'mWorthIt those results are good! I hate that because of the media kids and parents with rsults like that feel shit. He has enough to go on and after the next lot nobody much will care!

I needn't have worried about my daughter's module results incidentally - A* in English and Bio, B in Phys (miracle) and C in maths (another miracle - numbers not her thing!).

Loshad · 25/08/2011 13:16

Happy bunnies here, 6 A*, 2 A and 1 B.
Got 100% UMS in chem, 3 out of 4 parts in biol, 2 of the geog and matyhs modules which is pleasing as those are his AS choices.

Yellowstone · 25/08/2011 13:17

Should we sign in here too? :) x 11.

Mabelface · 25/08/2011 13:17

I got an A* in English. Grin

duchesse · 25/08/2011 13:20

Yeay, MadLizzy!

OP posts:
Mabelface · 25/08/2011 13:23

Thanks. Grin

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 25/08/2011 13:57

Aw MadLizzy - well done!

I'm crossing paths with lots of you on the other thread as well, but in case I have missed anyone, just want to say congratulations to ALL of you and your DC.

BIWI One of DD2's friends has done worse than expected (not the one who thought she had though) and has been told that she can continue into the sixth form and resit modules/exams in January. Can your DS do this at his school?

Docbunches · 25/08/2011 14:42

I wasn't sure where to post as there are several results threads on the go, but anyway, well done to everyone who has already posted.

My DS achieved 2 As, 4 Bs, 3 Cs (and unfortunately a D for Citizenship - DS did zero revision for it, so a hard lesson learned). He had already banked 2 Bs from last year.

I was pleased and relieved that, against the odds, DS got a C in French, which will get him the English Bacc Smile.

sieglinde · 25/08/2011 15:03

Well done, Madlizzy, and to your dc, docbunches. And strictloving mum, I'm delighted for you! Wine for each and all.

naughtaless · 25/08/2011 17:50

Smile So proud of DD she got A* in Chem (3 x 100 +83/400) Physics, Biology, Maths, Stastics, Eng Lang + Lit, Geog, D.T., Spanish and I.T
A in PCS which she was gob smacked about as she thought she was heading for a D!

I think in two years time I will be posting about selling our house to go live in a tent, to pay for Uni!!! Grin

naughtaless · 25/08/2011 17:53

Wine to all parents
[tea] and Biscuit and a round of applause for each and every child.
Madlizzy, wow I am so impressed WineWine for you Grin

mumslife thank you, that's kind. I am so proud of her. Been bursting all day.

mycatsaysach · 25/08/2011 20:53

dd got A in german

in yr 9 - not bad for an august baby Wink

marriedinwhite · 26/08/2011 08:13

The texting went like this: "I got my results" me: "and they are", him: "what we knew they would be" me: "elaborate", him: "A for maths", me: "and the rest", him: "*", me: "OK, great", him: "thanks for the postivity", me - an hour later - "sorry a student walked in in tears because he did much worse than expected and knew you were OK - well done, very proud", him: "oh, understand now, sorry".

He wants to be a journalist - he's not a great communicator is he? But the above puts it into perspective a bit and not everyone had a great day yesterday but that doesn't mean they won't have great lives, they just need to adjust and find a way to jump an early hurdle thrown at them, in their view, from left field.
