Hi
Apologies if this has been done this year, but I found a similar thread very supportive when DD started the exam treadmill (not at Uni) and we are about to start again with DS.

Milliboy is 15, late Summer baby so cannot get a job until the end of the Summer hols, when they will have all gone. Good news is - this gives him more revision time Grin

He is at a boys selective Grammar school, so the pressure is on to achieve. He also wants to aim for a decent Uni so understands that good GCSE grades are vital.

Still doesn't make the whole process any easier for him or me :)

Who else has boarded the 2011 Exam Express?

Has everyone finished now then?

Happy Summer! Wine Grin

All done now, he has four induction days at Sixth form, all done on friday,
Happy Summer! Smile

mumblechum1 · 30/06/2011 13:24

DS's lot had their prom on Monday night, ending in an all nighter camping in a neighbour's paddock.

He rolled in at 4.15am which was fine, but one of the girls was still knocking shots back at 7am THEN HAD TO DO HER CHEMISTRY RETAKE.

Not just hungover, still pissed.Shock

Wondered how many DCs get an induction before 'Results Day'?

Mine is down for a single day for Enrolment (with Induction) just before starting in September. We assumed the school was only inducting those definitely joining. However many posters have several days' Induction for Sixth form before August.

zlaya · 30/06/2011 14:28

Our DD is already at induction, has been since Tuesday ( should have been from Monday, but he still had exams on Monday) and it is for a week then is all done until result day Grin

MABS · 30/06/2011 14:34

induction 1 sep, but she staying at same school.

zlaya · 30/06/2011 14:41

I wish my DD'S induction was also in sep. I feel he is being robed of of this week free time, which he could have used to relax a little, he is tired.

rosar · 30/06/2011 14:53

Most of the soon to be Sixth form are already there, but the school becomes co-ed from Sixth and see it as a new start for all, so everyone gets a day before the year starts. Was starting to wonder if we missed something (as usual) with all the early inductions posted.

Milliways · 23/07/2011 19:59

We have just had an email about collecting results - along with the book list for 6th form - going to cost around £120!

Also, will need to get a suit - which could be fun as he is sooooo skinny Grin

Hope you are all enjoying the summer - see you all back here on 25th!

DD is also in yr 11 and when I am sure I was on a thread many moons ago with a lot of you when we were waiting to be told what school they were being allocated for yr 7.

Milliways · 23/07/2011 21:50

Yes, we have been around this site for scary lengths of time! :)

Many of the colleges/6th forms have already done their induction days around here, DD induction isn't until the end of Sept and she doesn't start her course until October. The college that she is going to has the same start dates and holidays as the uni that it is attached too.

pestroid · 26/07/2011 23:16

DD doesn't have her induction until Sep 1st. Today we recieved a letter about sixth form from the school it is 103 pages long. which is just want you want to read after a day at work.

Hello again :)

I am going to drive DS to school, but will wait in car until he finds me, then they are all going to town to watch "The Inbetweeners" at the Cinema.

OP posts:
Yellowstone · 22/08/2011 22:28

Wow Milliways, that list!

'Trepidation' is a soft word to describe the anticipation in this house. We all just realised that no script could possibly be read, given DS's ink blot scribbled out scribbly 'handwriting'.

Every day and every shot of reality just makes it worse.

Yellowstone · 22/08/2011 22:29

DS2 actually, DS3 is next year :(

Milliways · 22/08/2011 22:47

Sorry! Don't know how you stand the constant stress - mine are 4 school years apart so only clash was KS1 & 2 SATS Grin

Thank you - I am here and waiting. DD1, however, is in Spain on an exchange, and is going to phone the school herself for the results - I hope the Spanish family are bracing themselves for emotion whatever happens - and I won't be much use at work on Thursday, I don't suppose...

Milliways · 22/08/2011 22:58

That's tough Alice - fingers crossed she will have a Fiesta! :)

OP posts:
mountaingirl · 23/08/2011 07:24

Alice just as a matter of interest how did you organize your daughter's exchange trip to Spain? Via friends or via a company?

Also waiting for results for ds1. Have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach...

alice15 · 23/08/2011 07:56

mountaingirl, we organised it via an Internet site, the equivalent of a dating agency but for teenage language exchanges - www.lingoo.eu - DD has now done 2 French exchanges with the same family (ie a total of 8 weeks with the other girl), and is currently on the second leg of the Spanish one. All the exchanges have been hugely successful and done wonders for her languages as well as giving her the opportunity to learn about other cultures, gain independence, etc. PM me if you'd like more information about it (or if anyone else does, of course!)

Merrylegs · 24/08/2011 21:52

Just waving at everyone again.

Seems so long ago since we first started posting on this thread.

All the status updates on DS's facebook page are teens worried about tomorrow.

DS is remarkably calm.

I have wine.

Later!

kangers · 24/08/2011 21:58

Will inform you all tomorrow. DS completely chillaxed. I am shitting bricks. Thanks for all support milliways and all.
