Hi
Apologies if this has been done this year, but I found a similar thread very supportive when DD started the exam treadmill (not at Uni) and we are about to start again with DS.

Milliboy is 15, late Summer baby so cannot get a job until the end of the Summer hols, when they will have all gone. Good news is - this gives him more revision time Grin

He is at a boys selective Grammar school, so the pressure is on to achieve. He also wants to aim for a decent Uni so understands that good GCSE grades are vital.

Still doesn't make the whole process any easier for him or me :)

Who else has boarded the 2011 Exam Express?

You are very welcome Merrylegs :)

DS had History today (which went very well), then he has Chemistry tomorrow, Latin Thursday, Physics & Geography on Friday and finally finishes next Wed with Latin. Phew! 25 papers in total!!

Most definately we can all bite our nails together before the exams and post results when they arrive. The very best of luck to you all :)

DD finishes next Wednesday as well - 3 Latin papers and 1 History paper to go. Can't wait!

Capiche · 14/06/2011 21:22

those who did maths on Monday - was it 'freestanding module ocr'?

FrozenChocolate · 14/06/2011 21:26

Ooh just seen this, can I join? Ds has done nearly everything but with very little revision. He has gone to revision classes at school but has not done anything at home. I feel like crying.

hennipenni · 14/06/2011 23:02

History today which like Milliways Ds went really well for DD. Chemistry tomorrow and then she's finished until she goes to college in October.

Unfortunatly we didn't research the results date so DD will miss going into school with her friends as we're away then :(

Cupawoman · 15/06/2011 07:22

Capiche yes, freestanding module OCR.

FrozenChocolate That sounds similar to my son but as another poster said earlier on this thread (Mumblechum, I think) they have already completed so many moudles/coursework, that hours of endless revision may not be necessary for some DC.

Cupawoman · 15/06/2011 08:33

*modules!

MABS · 15/06/2011 15:04

last proper one Fri!! then just chem retake 28 June :)

Cupawoman · 15/06/2011 16:00

Final Biology for my son today which he say's was "really easy". German next Monday, then the following Monday Stats and German again. After that, let the celebrations commence Smile

Cupawoman · 15/06/2011 16:01

*says, not say's, I've got runaway fingers today.

frantic51 · 15/06/2011 21:45

Just seen DD2's latest Facebook statement posted 20 minutes ago (she's a boarder) "dear cheif examiner for OCR latin if you have made the exam tomorrow ridiculously easy you are a wonderful person... if not... I'll cry :'( why oh why did I take this subject?!" Now I feel sick Sad

balia · 16/06/2011 18:07

I'm with you, Cupawoman - we're the last, I think, DD has Stats on that Monday. She does have one final Maths module to do, too. And she is finally on Exam Leave!

Capiche · 16/06/2011 19:08

impetus is decidedly lacking chez-nous

dd was doing so little work today i decided she'd be better off 'cleaning' her bedroom. Please note inverted commas.

only geog and hist left

Milliways · 16/06/2011 21:27

Frantic51 - How did it go? DS thought his Latin today was good, but is not looking forward to the set text next Wednesday.

He is really tired now, and with 2 papers tomorrow will be crashing out this weekend.

DS's last exam today - Geography.
Trouble is, very few of his friends finsih today, so there won't be much celebrating, and by the time they do finish, it will be a bit of an anticlimax for DS.

mumblechum1 · 17/06/2011 11:39

DS had biology on Wednesday and also said it was a piece of piss. He says that about all of them, though, except the Edexcel non calculator paper.

Geography today, for which he started revising yesterday and did a grand total of 90 mins revision Hmm, then History next Wednesday but he will work for that because he's taking it at A Level.

MABS · 17/06/2011 12:07

dd said geog was very good today...whatever that means.

mumblechum1 · 17/06/2011 12:32

Your dd has probably done more than 90 minutes revision, MABS Grin. I just called ds and he said "it was all right" which is code for "I messed it up because I couldn't be arsed to revise and am going to get a C"

frantic51 · 17/06/2011 16:06

Milliways, DD said the higher language paper was "not as bad" as she was expecting but has "no idea" how well or badly she may have done! It was the paper she was dreading most, she's quite looking forward to the set texts next week. She has had a day off today, just has the two remaining Latin papers next week and then it's all over and nail biting time! Grin

MABS · 17/06/2011 16:07

Well, if she did it was very secretly done! Maybe 91 mins if that ;-) Wants to do A level Geog so a bit more effort would have been nice, she has to get an A Grade. What does yours want to 'study' Mumblechum?

mumblechum1 · 17/06/2011 16:33

Grin Mabs. Medicine, though I have serious doubts that he has the work ethic. He'll probably get A*/A for all the stuff that matters, ie all sciences, both English,Maths and History so he doesn't bother about the rest, really.

MABS · 17/06/2011 16:39

Clever boy mumblechum, dd is the opposite A A* in all the others usually, but maths, sciences are not great :( Not a clue what she wants to do though.

Milliways · 17/06/2011 18:18

That's good Frantic :)

DS found Geography good today, and Physics was "so-so" Confused

Loshad · 17/06/2011 21:26

DS2 has just german left now - one exam next week, and one the week after, so he's off out tonight to a party Shock he has been working hard though so it seemed a bit mean to say no (soft parent emoticon)

emmspemms · 17/06/2011 22:39

Geography today ,now it's all over until we have results day .
They went out to celebrate at Pizza Express, they all had dough balls. He he. Big spenders.
Party tomorrow night as some deluded family have gone away and left dear boy at home .
EMPTY.
Oh well , it could happen to any of us,
Hope everyone one has the results needed, will catch up in August.
