I missed the beginning, I was hoping to see the dancing tunnocks tea cakes from last time. Have they been on?!

I don’t think you’ve missed them. They are doing the athlete parade before everything else.

Is it usual to have both the parathletes and the athletes in the same opening ceremony? I thoroughly approve.

The Scotland women are reminding me of schoolgirls who roll their skirts up. Some of the kilts are quite short.

I have always wondered why the olympics have never just done one opening and one ceremony with all athletes and parathletes together.

The olympics/paralympics is much bigger and run the events separately. You’d either end up with one games that lasts 6 weeks or one ceremony and the para athletes then waiting 3-4 weeks before they start competing. Both of those might be tricky to fit in with the rest of the sporting calendar for both able bodied and para sport.

Should definitely be done more where possible though.

I usually find sections of the ‘entertainment’ quite uninteresting. I liked the weaving and Sam Heughan, though.

I am not enjoying this version of 500 miles! It's a rousing song not a dreary slow piece.....

Well I thought the Scottish team looked scruffy - kilts of various lengths, some of the white shirts hanging out. The seating looks cheap. The 500 miles song is usually upbeat and fun but it’s a dirge. Burnham looks bored stiff. The baton bearer looks like he’s been dressed by Man at C& A.

I’m quite enjoying it overall, although agree this version of 500 miles was far too dreary.

I’m also annoyed at having to pay for coverage of the rest of the games, although we’ve managed to get an HBO add on via Amazon Prime for £9.99 (no ads) and will cancel after the games so I guess that’s not too bad.

Oh and the sound quality is poor. I’m looking forward to the sport. Didn’t realise we’d have to pay for it though!

It took me a while to realise that, yes, I was watching the King & Queen arrive via Tardis 😂. Always good to see Sir Chris still cracking on doing things.
