Scottish Elections who do you think will take the majority of Seats?

Fundays12 · 12/04/2026 11:15

As a Scot I genuinely have no idea who to vote for.

I dont trust the SNP and find John Swinney completely incompetent. I wouldnt trust him to run my household budget let alone the countries so he is out for me. I cant stand labour, the tories well are not my cup of tea, lib dems and green would never get my vote.

However i dont seem to be alone in having no idea who to vote for which leaves me wondering who will take the majority of seats across Scotland. What do others think will happen?

Brilliant! Nothing like an inept election broadcast.

Is Tommy S Scottish socialist still? I totally disagree with everything they stand for and would never dream of voting for them but I really respect Colin Fox’s tenacity. Out every weekend in the centre of Edinburgh, flying the flag for his cause with dignity and respect.

Well my "who to vote to get the SNP out" tactical voting site suggests Labour for constituency vote, and whoever I fancty other than SNP/Green for regional.

Did catch a party political broadcast last night which was so amateur it was funny - some woman who struggled with joined up sentences and Tommy Sheridan!

Sorry if ive missed it but do you have a link to the site?

graywingeddoor · 18/04/2026 09:00

I need to vote conservative tatically. I am just not sure I can do that.

Comfort yourself, they at least know what a woman is!

I'm told Labour, who don't give a shiny shit about women.

Neither labour or SNP seem to care about womans rights or safety so neither will get my vote.

But its probably more important to vote tactically to get rid of SNP

I cant stand labour or SNP which leaves me with Tory, lib dems and Green party. Lib dems tend to get in normally in my area but have been less than supportive on certain large key issues in our area so this may change totally.

I wouldn't touch Green with a barge pole.

I wouldn't touch Green with a barge pole.

I'd have to fashion something out of a bargepole, an extremely long ladder, the bloody massive pencil from the Pencil Museum, a couple of those yard of Jaffa Cakes boxes you get at Christmas and an assortment of rulers and I still wouldn't touch them.

as I said above, labour for constiuency (its them v snp here) and Tory for regional (as they know what a woman are and I don't support independence).

Its alarming how many people don't realise how the two votes work though and that they could essentially be wasting their first vote.

I am now thinking that I indeed don’t understand how it works. Appreciating this thread as am now off to figure out what I am missing. Mostly I was googling the candidates, thinking about my experiences on the community council etc, ruling out the parties I absolutely could never touch and then struggling as I appeared to have ruled out everyone.

Helpmaboa · 19/04/2026 23:18

It’s so depressing

The SNP and Greens have trashed the country, but the nats will win cos everyone is so useless

I have no idea. He appears to have pivoted to the independence bandwagon. You thought the SNP was bad - these guys are worse. "Alliance to Liberate Scotland" - he thinks it's Star Wars. His wife is standing too. No mention of socialism on the webpage, they are positioning themselves as a single issue party. And hoping we'll all forget Tommy's criminal convictions.

FunnyOrca · 20/04/2026 09:20

Anas Sarwar doesn’t care about anything. The whole thing is a son of a rich man’s vanity project to him. Have you seen QUITE how many pictures of himself he has in the manifesto?

The thing about the SNP is they don’t really know what they are for. The recent leadership contests have brought out some pretty extreme views for a party that aims to represent a broad spectrum of people. John S won’t last another 5 years. He clearly hates the job.

Reform will probably get a few in from the list vote, to my immense disappointment. I never supported the SNP, but 5,10,15 years ago their dominance made being racist unacceptable and I’m sad the Scottish people have turned on that.

Well, I was called a "fucking foreign cunt" by one of them during the Indy Ref campaign so I'm not convinced that they are all such lovely welcoming people as some seem to think. He was xenophobic rather than racist but still, not great.

Nimonion · 20/04/2026 10:45

A poll out today predicts greens + SNP together will fall short of a majority due to a rise in Reform voters. I loathe the Indy parties far more than any other but I’d sorta like them to stay in for the next 5 years when the shit is really going to hit the fan finances-wise. They need to own the mess we’re in.

I've come to this conclusion as well. Otherwise they'll just blame whoever come after them for the gaping £5 Billion hole in the budget.

Except towards English people. That sort of racism/xenophobia was just fine.

RaraRachael · 20/04/2026 11:29

Apparently my constituency is a straight fight between SNP and Reform God help us all. So if we want rid of a bunch of inept numpties, we have to vote for another even worse bunch.

Nimonion · 20/04/2026 12:03

I am confident Reform won’t be as bad as the SNP. How could they be? Just how?

Famous last words!

So make your list vote count.

Just check where you’re seeing this @RaraRachael
A poster put a link to a similar battle in Edinburgh central, which was odd as there’s a large student population. Turned out the data was for a Westminster election not Scottish Gov, which is 3 way split between SNP, greens and labour. Much more what we’d expect in a student area!

ScoStud · 20/04/2026 13:47

I’d also be wary of ANY party claiming it’s a straight fight between them and Reform in a constituency. I imagine this will be used as a tactic! Although I think Reform will pick up votes and list seats I’d surprised if we saw many where it’s a “straight fight”

RaraRachael · 20/04/2026 14:29

@ScoStud it was on a Scottish political programme yesterday.
