Scottish artists - prints

At Christmas I started a thread asking for local recommendations for gifts and ended up buying a beautiful necklace from the Design Exchange and tomorrow my mum is getting chocolate from Edward & Irwyn (and so am I 😁).

I’m now looking for prints for the house and thought I’d ask for Scottish artists you would recommend. I’ve got a print from Gordon Wilson already and my eyes on a Jan Nelson. Who else could I have a look at?

Thanks in advance (and thanks again for all the great recommendations in December for gifts!).

I'm related to John McNairn and his daughter Caroline McNairn who are both Scottish artists

I like their work, you can Google them, both are on Wikipedia

Kirsty Wither has some lovely prints, well worth a look.

You can custom order prints of any items in the National Galleries archive - very reasonable prices & you can choose the size - might be too much choice though! I love the Scottish Colourists

Edinburgh Printmakers has a shop selling their artists’ work, with some of it for sale online here https://edinburghprintmakers.co.uk/shop/

As do WASPS studios https://www.waspsstudios.org.uk/our-shop/
(if you’re near any of the studios they also have open weekends to view the work and buy direct or commission from artists - they’re in loads of places now).

Thank you everyone, just spent some time going through the links and enjoying the art work. The WASPs website has made me realise that there’s a whole load of things I need in my life that I didn’t realise before 😂

Andy Peutherer. His prints brighten up my greige home.

Jack Vettriano was Scottish but not everyone's cup of tea.

I love my linocut from Babs Pease, who I believe lives near Dollar. I bought it at the Pittenweem Art Festival which is on every year in August. Great to visit if you can get to it.

I got a Ron Lawson landscape for my birthday, his work feels very Scottish to me. Recommend you spend time visiting small art galleries and pick pieces that connect with you.

@expatbaby - the picture that appears for the link - the long one - is beautiful. I love it.

Have a look at Little Wren Studio. Amanda, the artist is a local, just outside Glasgow and does wonderful watercolours, and prints of the Scottish Countryside as well as animals etc. We have an original and a print of hers and they are very evocative.

I was given a lovely print from Cut From the Land - a husband and wife team based in Banff https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61565552542994

Leila Thomson, Hoxa Gallery, Orkney created beautiful, beautiful tapestries. You can buy prints of them. I have three. I actually cried when I visited the gallery, the tapestries are breath-taking.
Leila sadly died just a few years ago, but I see that her daughter Jo has also created beautiful artwork too.
