It's always sad to see a marriage come to an end, but really this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

The French connection is that Ms Sturgeon was allegedly quite pally with an official whose first language was French. 🇫🇷 and I don’t mean Justin Trudeau or Emmanuel Sarkozy.

BigBoysDontCry · 13/01/2025 14:48

I wonder if Salmond's death, taking whatever he knew with him regarding their marriage also has something to do with it?

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 13/01/2025 14:51

this is about as surprising as rain in Glasgow

SirChenjins · 13/01/2025 15:04

Merci beaucoup @unmemorableusername and @CharityShopChic

The marriage of convenience is no longer convenient. 🙄

It’s now a divorce of convenience

What, like sturgeon and murrell were madly in love?

Livinginaclock · 13/01/2025 15:57

I'm shocked to my very core.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 13/01/2025 16:02

@GargoylesofBeelzebub the court case must be starting imminently! sturgeon's motto has always been "protect thyself!" of course, it will all be westminster's fault that they have broken up!!!

Can I ask what you believe? And why you believe it?

Cynic17 · 13/01/2025 17:25

She's not exactly standing by her man, is she? Seems a very cynical move, but I guess we don't know the full story.

😂 And not just on this thread

CowBoyz · 13/01/2025 17:42

Do they speak a different language in Scotland cos a lot of this I'm struggling to understand.

Bideshi · 13/01/2025 17:42

lovealongbath · 13/01/2025 12:30

Don’t know why they don’t get an annulment as I can’t imagine the marriage as been consummated.

edit, just googled annulment and the marriage has to be less than a year. So that’s ruled out.

Edited

Bit unfair as, no matter what you think of Sturgeon, she has talked about at least one miscarriage.

Jeezitneverends · 13/01/2025 18:39

I just saw a clip of their wedding on the news-I don’t think I’ve ever seen a couple on their wedding day looking less like a couple

Chuchoter · 13/01/2025 18:50

Does anyone actually believe that their marriage was ever consummated?!

CountingDownToSummer · 13/01/2025 18:52

Wonder which one will be moving into the camper van?

Not sure what ‘cos’ is but to clarify almost every post on this thread- she is a liar and a disgrace to the country.

Scottishskifun · 13/01/2025 18:53

The couple of the century have been separated for some time.....well I never would have thought it..... said absolutely no one!

CharityShopChic · 13/01/2025 18:56

The thing is. There is no proof or evidence that Ms Sturgeon is not entirely heterosexual and anything else is just gossip. But there is a lot of gossip, and the gossip has been going on for YEARS.

There was a period when Sturgeon was FM, Kezia Dugdale (lesbian, married to Jenny Gilruth of the SNP) was in charge of Labour, and Ruth Davidson (lesbian, married to Jen WIlson since 2014) was leading the Conservatiives. There are many other out and proud MPs and MSPs in Scotland. Being gay, or bi just is not a thing worth commenting on in 2025 in Scotland and that is exactly as it should be.

So if there is a senior ex-politician who has been, in effect, living a lie in a sham marriage to disguise their sexuality that is pretty concerning and raises all sorts of issues. If that were the case, and I'm not saying it is or is not, then that is not a good position to be in for anyone.

There is proof and evidence but due to super injunctions, It is not allowed to be printed.

Ineedashero · 13/01/2025 20:20

I'm not convinced super injunctions are really a thing, and likely a term coined by the media. Someone's sexuality is rarely, if ever, a matter of national security or anything like that so it sounds stupid to me to grant them privacy.
