Lots going on in the original exam thread but thought I’d start one only for appeals as I’m curious how many of our DCs will be successful.

Mine submitted one for chemistry today, took 2 minutes online

Thank you, he’s fine but it was graphics and 2% off a C so was worth a shot

luckily my 2 haven’t needed them for their next step.

HGC2 · 03/10/2024 18:49

Not even a peep about appeals from our school

I just asked my DD and she didn’t know anything about it.

bluebellsandspring · 03/10/2024 20:19

My DC was successful in one out of three appeals. I'm delighted, they are still disappointed.

Would the section on My SQA show the results of the appeals? DC has gone out for the evening so I can't ask if that has been updated.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 03/10/2024 20:41

Congratulations to your child, what subject/level?

I am sure I read that my SQA was not being updated

Igneococcus · 04/10/2024 08:27

Nothing here either and today is the last day before two weeks holidays.

motheronthedancefloor · 04/10/2024 08:44

Its evident from these posts that schools weren't prepared for the early release. I don't know when DD will find out and considering the stress of Higher History, its just not acceptable.

Vettrianofan · 04/10/2024 09:43

Success in this household 🙌 DS chuffed with his appeal outcome - Higher Chemistry upgraded to a C!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳Bloody thrilled for him. Was in tears reading the email from the SQA this morning and I'm no pansy! 🤣

For those who are not aware, this was a pupil who was SIX points away from the grade boundary. Just making that clear for those who are still hoping for a good outcome for their own DC being so many points away from the grade boundary. It is possible.

Brilliant - thats the one we're hoping for too! Did the school have the email or was it passed to your son? Our school in denial it seems!

I just received the email this morning just after 8am. DS said his Chemistry teacher was told about the results. He's very happy for DS too. Thank goodness we got there in the end.

Fingers crossed for everyone else too. Really really hope everyone else gets the grades they need🤞

This is amazing!

Congratulations!

Sitting with him helping with revision over the hot weekends in April and May has now been worth it (when others in the family were out having fun at the beach)❤️ it wasn't all for nothing. Thank you😊 He has had a lot of difficulties to overcome in the last few years and additional support needs too, and to others a C might not seem a massive deal but it is for us as a family.

Oh I get it, my eldest breezed through school with all As (well until he gave up trying as hard in s6) and my youngest has ASD and all sorts of struggles, it’s such an achievement to even be sitting exams far less getting passes 😅

ThatsNotMyTeen · 04/10/2024 10:04

A C at higher opens up so many options for college etc. mine is doing 3 highers and if he can get even 1 C it’ll make such a difference

motheronthedancefloor · 04/10/2024 10:12

well done to @Vettrianofan's DC!

DD didn't get History appeal. Only one mark off a C and consistent As :(

Not heard about the other appeal yet.

Wishing your youngest loads of luck with his three Highers, I am sure he will give it his best shot and succeed 😊

Definitely just having gone from D to a C mentally is a huge leap for many pupils. Helps their confidence.

I am so sorry for your DD, especially as she was only a mark away with H History, absolutely gutted😪 That's just incredibly frustrating for everyone all round.

Fingers crossed for the other appeal your DD is waiting on, it can't all be bad news🤞

Definitely, just shows you the difference even within one family. Well done too to your eldest in achieving straight As all through school. You will be incredibly proud of both your DC regardless though. I think too with DC who have additional needs it's even more impressive seeing them achieving passes because of all the difficulties they need to battle through to reach their destination. DS still in CAMHS and awaiting diagnosis but needs lots of support from myself and DH on a regular basis. It's not easy 😕

Oh that’s a shame x maybe there will be a change in grade boundaries if the whole exam is under review? You never know.

motheronthedancefloor · 04/10/2024 11:32

Not succesful for the other one either. Gutted for her.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 04/10/2024 11:33

Och what a shame.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 04/10/2024 12:21

My eldest never got his either, never mind.

HigherOptions · 04/10/2024 14:37

I cracked and asked my DD to check her emails - she asked why and I explained. She then said that some pupils had heard about their appeals but there was just one pastoral care teacher telling pupils one at a time. She was totally unphased by this and hadn’t thought to go and ask about hers. Her best friend had heard they hadn’t gone up a grade. But no sense of urgency in finding out about hers. I don’t know where she gets her laid back attitude - I wish I was the same 😂I’m sure if it had been good news they would have told her by now.

dancerdog · 04/10/2024 15:03

Bettyscakes · 03/10/2024 06:55

Exactly… it’s business as usual - no one is putting in any less effort.

(waves) @Bettyscakes, did you not get the memo that we've all to put our feet up and do nothing?

HGC2 · 04/10/2024 15:42

No change for myDS, oh well nothing lost in trying
