Lots going on in the original exam thread but thought I’d start one only for appeals as I’m curious how many of our DCs will be successful.

Mine submitted one for chemistry today, took 2 minutes online

End of October?

That’s good to know. So quite a wait still!

motheronthedancefloor · 06/09/2024 12:07

8 weeks today (or yesterday if its 31st October like last year). long wait indeed 😒

Important news!

According to the Herald, Jenny Gilruth has "bowed to pressure" and agreed to discuss teacher concerns with the SQA

What that will result in, we can only hope but I'm crossing all fingers and toes for a good appeal outcome.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 01/10/2024 18:41

SQA appeals due on Thursday apparently

Good luck everyone

motheronthedancefloor · 01/10/2024 18:44

Where does it say that? It's usually Halloween. Do you have a link?

motheronthedancefloor · 01/10/2024 18:45

Plus they're still investigating higher history!

It was a message on my son’s Teams.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 01/10/2024 18:54

teacher who posted it says they are to go and see her from 3pm on Thursday and she will give them their outcomes. My eldest has left school so presumably he will need to email the school

motheronthedancefloor · 01/10/2024 18:57

That's good if true but also strange the timings have changed.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 01/10/2024 19:00

I’m not sure about usual timings as mine have never appealed before so never paid attention. It does seem quite early if Halloween is more normal. Apparently the new certificates if they are successful are issued in November

HGC2 · 01/10/2024 19:43

Was just thinking about that today. One of my sons friends had a higher go up by 6 points in the urgent appeals, we just want 1 wee point more here!

Blimey, that would be good if correct! Thanks.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 01/10/2024 22:54

I looked at the Teams message again, it definitely says 3rd! I hope the teacher hasn’t got it wrong and it is in fact 31st!

not optimistic here anyway…

bluebellsandspring · 02/10/2024 09:54

I've had a look at the SQA website and twitter and there isn't any mention I can see of any particular dates, just the results will be issued in October.

KielderWater · 02/10/2024 10:09

My DC heard on 31st October last year, but apparently other subjects heard sooner.

motheronthedancefloor · 02/10/2024 11:17

Maybe it's earlier for subjects with few appeals? What did your dc appeal @ThatsNotMyTeen

My youngest was appealing N5 graphics

eldest appealing H physics and AH maths

motheronthedancefloor · 02/10/2024 14:07

SQA have confirmed its tomorrow when I asked them. Why so much earlier than usual though? And why before the HIstory investigation is completed?

bluebellsandspring · 02/10/2024 14:38

I suspect not too much effort will be put into the history investigation when the SQA is about to be scrapped. It is a shame, because my DC could do with an extra couple of marks to move up a grade.

HigherOptions · 02/10/2024 16:08

Oh Wow! Nothing been mentioned to my DD as far as I know? Awaiting Higher History (B) and Higher Chemistry (B) - more hopeful for History but thought it worth a go for Chemistry too.

8misskitty8 · 02/10/2024 19:08

Nothing mentioned to Dd either. She needs 1 mark to get a C in Higher English which she really needs. 🤞

I work for them… we are not about to be scrapped!

You are. The SQA is being replaced by Qualifications Scotland, operational autumn 2025 (in theory anyway).

Of course, like most things SNP, this is just a slight if hand - a name change and little else.

Scottish Government announces new qualifications body under same leadership

The Scottish Government has proposed legislation for replacing the SQA with a new body, Qualifications Scotland.

motheronthedancefloor · 03/10/2024 06:37

Good luck today to all DC waiting for appeal results. If it is today then I hope they get what they were hoping for as we can't appeal an appeal.
Although the ongoing history investigation could still change things.

Bettyscakes · 03/10/2024 06:55

Exactly… it’s business as usual - no one is putting in any less effort.
