So if Humza Youseless resigns... what next?

I have to admit I've not been paying attention really as Youseless, Salmond and that wee fanny Harvie give me the RAGE so I just end up swearing at the telly when they are on.

So if Youseless resigns - what next? The SNP elect someone else? Or we get an election? If he resigns, what happens about the votes of no confidence?

I’ve decided to forego my principles and join the Scottish Numpty Party and stand for FM….Its worth it for the pension, and you only have to do it (badly) for about 10 minutes

The pension story is completely untrue. Several news outlets have had to publish retractions after claiming He would receive a big payout.

For his time as FM he will receive a pension of around £2k per year payable after he is 65.

So swinney is going to announce. Do we think Forbes has agreed a cosy cabinet position for herself and it is uncontested nomination? Or do we think she will come out for the fight? I’m hoping she does. <note…I don’t want either of them and would prefer an election but if I HAD to choose Forbes is in my view the more competent of the two….which also gives me pause for thought as another 2 years of incompetent government would surely finish the SNP at the next election (hurray!) but I am not sure I can bear to see two more years of utter nonsense and waste>

Skyellaskerry · 02/05/2024 09:17

@JennyLake I think uncontested, and Forbes will go for next time round.

EasternStandard · 02/05/2024 09:18

Feels like more of the same. Depressing

Hopefully they’ve learnt something

Yes reckon that’s exactly what’s happened - Swinney and Forbes have cut a deal, Swinney to lead and cue lots of fluff about a return to stability and getting on with the job.

the times has a savaging of Swinney today and his grey man leadership….

An extra 2K per year bump on top of a DB pension is still quite a nice bump on an already generous pensions scheme for a year's service. It would not be cheap to by for Joe Average wanting to buy a similar bump.

It's hilarious that no one has suggested Shona Robison. What's the point of deputy FM, if she can't step up when needed.

Whoever is deputy never gets elected in this type of contest. No deputy PM has ever succeeded the Prime Minister and only Sturgeon has done it in Scotland.

Of course it’s more of the same-he knows where the bodies are!

Yes but it's a long way from the "half his salary for the rest of his life" story that several papers printed.

It also pales compared to the ludicrous perks Truss gained from her six weeks of disaster.

However when a public servant gains a significant benefit from failure the press and public will rightly be interested, whatever the size of the benefit.

Hahaha 🤣 🤣 🤣.
Sturgeon will still be pulling strings in the background.
They won't have learnt bugger all.

BusyMintCrab · 02/05/2024 14:06

Sooo it looks like it will be Swinney..

Jeezitneverends · 02/05/2024 14:09

Swinney with Kate Forbes in some plum ministerial role so there won’t even be an actual contest…planned all along, Useless has been the fall guy (not that I’m sorry to see him go) Swinney was “taking a back seat to spend time with his family” till Useless served his purpose, the bam up pops Swinney

Thevelvelletes · 02/05/2024 14:13

Sturgeon will be pleased.

Yup, plum job for not contesting him

Hopefully the Greens will throw their toys out again and refuse to support the SNP if she gets a Cabinet post.
