XL bully dogs and Scotland

Another blinder by our "wonderful" government. I was not aware that the ban on these awful chav beast dogs only applied in England and Wales. No legislation to ban/restrict them in Scotland.

Some dim woman who runs a "bullie rescue" says she has been "inundated". Isn't that just marvellous.

Another child victim. According to the Sun article the owners had complied with the law.

I feel sorry for parents whose dogs do this, despite the stupidity of putting big, powerful dogs in the home. But for the good of society I really do think we should be considering a mass cull of these animals, and very possibly other dog breeds too.

Horror as toddler is mauled by family pet XL Bully & left 'seriously bleeding'

A TODDLER has been mauled by his family’s XL Bully. The three-year-old was left “seriously bleeding” after the pet hound sunk its teeth into his face. The beast, which was registe…

I’ll be honest, I hate these dogs but I can pretty much guarantee my collie would bite a kid trying to climb on its back, the parents need to own this one.

I think they need to own it whatever the child (or anyone else) did or didn’t do. Their dog, their responsibility.

BigBoysDontCry · 22/03/2024 18:50

I appreciate that the parents have followed the legislation in this case but that was never going to remove the danger of the dog in itself. It was brought in to protect the general public, not to reduce risk inside your own home. I hope the little one recovers well.

Another dog killed by an off lead dog , a chihuahua killed an XL bully because the owner was too complacent to put their untrained dog on a lead and the XL bully was unable to defend itself and sadly later died at the vets . Why is that not in the news? Why was that chihuahua not shot dead, euthanised or even seized? So many questions but it all leads back to bad owners not bad dogs

I googled and searched Facebook, the only thing I found was a shared posted captioned chihuahua kills xl bully. The shared post is unavailable though.

i am baffled at how at chihuahua is able to kill an xl bully. Especially considering the size difference. Were there no people there, to kick the chihuahua or lift it away? Could the xl bully not stand up or move away, even if it can’t bite or bark or growl at the chihuahua if it had a muzzle on.

not saying you’re lying or anything, I’m just honestly confused.

i know chihuahuas can often be wee shites, but I’m baffled.

I took that to be a made up supposed illustration to try and make a point. It backfires.

How on EARTH can something so tiny as a Chihuahua kill something as colossal an an XL Bully , the owner of the XL could simply pluck off the Chihuahua as one might a horse fly.

Chihuahuas have tiny mouths, and snap rather than grab and latch on and shake.
They couldn't even kill a big rat never mind a hippo x pig built dog.

It's complete and utter bollocks.

Dogs can bark and growl with muzzles on.

They can also shake and muzzle slam.

I call BS on this ''Story''.

Edit...Anyone can make up anything, especially on Farcebook.

I knocked out Tyson with just one sucker-punch when I was a teenage girl and weighted just 100lbs
He went down like a ninepin..it was impressive.

BigBoysDontCry · 23/03/2024 08:37

The only way a chihuahua was the cause of death of an XL bully was if it got stuck in the bully's throat as it was getting eaten and the bully choked to death.

It's clearly a nonsense made up in retaliation of the story being the other way round.

SomeCatFromJapan · 23/03/2024 09:05

Things that didn't happen.

Kernackered · 23/03/2024 09:54

Isn't she being sarcastic, as in the bully got put down at the vets because an off lead chihuahua triggered its innate violent reaction. Hence the chihuahua caused its death. Except of course it didn't.

Oh yeah, they can can’t they. Sorry. My brain does not work well that late at night 😂

Again - the lengths which people go to in order to defend these beasts never ceases to amaze.

I found this on Facebook, last night, it links to a TikTok with a screenshot of a post saying a chihuahua was biting an xl bully, which was taken to the vet then put down because of injuries.

not saying it’s true, just posting because someone is claiming it is.

The dogs kidneys shut down so it was likely to have caused an infection with it's "little" bites . The reason no-one can find the post about it is most bully community groups are now private for the safety of the dogs. In recent months there has been some very sick individuals who have used social media to track down these dogs are and do unspeakable things such as leaves poison in the dogs garden, throw broken glass all over the garden and other disgusting behaviour. It's a scary time right now for the responsible bully owners who have innocent dogs like myself who has gone to extremes with cameras and combination locks on my property to keep my dogs safe .

Kernackered · 23/03/2024 10:39

It will have been put down because its an xl bully involved in a fight. Not because a chihuahua managed to shred its throat or rip a leg off or anything that an xl would have been capable of.

The shared post is unavailable as the groups are private so anything posted on them cannot be shared . Owners of Bully dogs have had their dogs injured and poisoned ect by sick individuals who track them through social media so have to keep the dogs safe. It absolutely happened tho the XL bully was taken to the vet and it's kidneys shut down so likely to have been infected from the bites the dog received. It's a sad state of affairs and sometimes that we will continue to see more of while there are still unleashed dogs with less than perfect recall. It is so important to keep your dog on a lead if it isn't perfectly recall trained.

Irvine21 · 23/03/2024 10:46

How could a dog on lead and muzzled be in a fight , if it was in a fight with a chihuahua the little dog would have sadly been the one to lose its life.

WhatsTheUseOfWorrying · 23/03/2024 10:48

What a load of XL bollocks. Some people will believe anything. If it suits them.

Is your dog an XL bully @Irvine21?

Yes, he is and we abide by all the rules . We have done since October long before the rules were put in place because I can't stomach the thought of him ever being wrongly accused. Community have been great with him fortunately but that is nothing new because he is a very sociable dog who has a one eyed chihuahua as his best friend to meet on walks. We done everything correctly at a young age and it really shows with him being so well balanced.

It is true sadly , the posts are in private groups so someone has obviously screenshot that . I can't actually open what you posted the link doesn't work for me. It is sick that noone can believe the bully was attacked by an off lead dog , like it could never ever happen. My own bully has been attacked by dogs all sizes and I'm lucky he's fine , totally unfazed too wee soul. The people saying it's a load of xl bollocks and it was out down because it was involved in a fight are probably the kind of folk that think it's ok that 3 armed masked men smashed their way in to a young mums home while home alone with her kids to steal their puppies and beat the life out of the mother of the puppies when she tried to leave with the men to go with her pups!

If there was a fight, and the chihuahua was attacking the bully, then the bully was 'involved'. I'm not saying the bully retaliated, but, now, if a bully is 'involved' in a fight, it will be put down. I'm not saying it's fair, I have a reactive dog that I keep on a lead and regularly have to deal with off lead dogs that won't leave us alone and wind him up. But the dog was involved. And bullys have the capability to do so much more damage/ kill.

You honestly think that people would think any of that is 'ok'? Come on now.
