XL bully dogs and Scotland

Another blinder by our "wonderful" government. I was not aware that the ban on these awful chav beast dogs only applied in England and Wales. No legislation to ban/restrict them in Scotland.

Some dim woman who runs a "bullie rescue" says she has been "inundated". Isn't that just marvellous.

The Scots taking in XL Bullies as England cracks down

Five-month-old Buddy has just arrived after his owner in Liverpool decided to give him up.

Whenever Maggie Chapman’s contribution to a topic is mentioned then you know there’s nothing of value or coherence to see.

Exactly!

I’m surprised that list green MSP Mark Ruskell is so super busy he needs a minion to answer correspondence for him.

And it took them near a month to reply in which time the situation has already moved on and more people have been attacked.

Sent email 2nd January, response from tory and Labour on the 8th. Green on the 31st.

Theyarehere · 01/02/2024 11:17

So they just waffled at you and batted the ball of blame to Westminster? Bloody hell!

Did you really expect anything different?

No I didn’t… but I still live in hope. It’s bloody shite, gets nobody anywhere except these clowns lower down in my estimation.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 01/02/2024 12:56

I got my SNP response recently. Is there not a contradiction in saying that these new measures will make things safer but also blaming the UK government for forcing their hand?

Yes, but it's a standard response from them -

Reasons, reasons, reasons.

Westminster.

Love, the SNP xxx

oakleaffy · 02/02/2024 10:54

That's shocking.

Poor woman.
She's quite right, the passersby definitely saved her life.
The woman who used a lighter on the XL Pit's nose! Never heard of anyone doing that before..but saved the woman.
That and the lad with the skateboard ..so glad they went to help.

They say is the best way to get them to release, as no dog can maul while it's airway is compromised, but it takes a strong person to do this, especially if the dog isn't wearing a collar .

The idiot mentioned in the article who bought an XL of Gumtree has the absolute cheek to try to blame...Drumroll please...''Chihuahuas''.

Pit and XL Bully owners have a ''Bingo'' of statements:

''It's not the dog it's the owner''
''He just wants to play''
''He wouldn't hurt a fly''
''He's a big softy''
''Nanny dogs''
{Not true...Pits and bull breeds were never used as 'Nanny' dogs, ever. In fact the developer of the Pitbull, Colby, had his 2 yr old nephew killed by his dog.

But the final comment is always

''But Chihuahuas are more aggressive''

Outthedoor24 · 02/02/2024 20:21

I've never heard of the lighter thing either. I have heard of someone getting a dog off another dog by having one hand on the collar and the other squeezing his balls 😳

But it would take a heck of a strong and brave person to do that with an xl bully or pit bull.

Northernsouloldies · 02/02/2024 20:36

Never heard of a chihuahua ripping someone to b bits or mauling to death funnily enough.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 05/02/2024 06:22

Such a tragedy! And the poor grandson too. His mum died a few years ago and now he’s witnessed his gran being killed as a result of his father’s choices to breed these animals.

Ineedaholiday23 · 05/02/2024 11:54

The father should go to jail.

What actually happens to the owner in these instances?

They could get prosecuted under the Dangerous Dogs Act, or with either involuntary manslaughter or manslaughter by gross negligence. Manslaughter is tough to prove though and CPS will only go through with it if they think there is a very high probability of getting a conviction.

BigBoysDontCry · 05/02/2024 12:54

I hope he gets a jail term but that poor lad. Lost his mum, now seen his gran get mauled to death and his dad hopefully going to jail.

This is the problem in that even if the owner had complied with the law and had got the animals neutered (puppies born before law came in) and licenced and he walked them on a lead and muzzled, this could still have happened.

Innocent people are being attacked and killed (inside houses) by these things which are owned by relatives and friends.

It's not safe and the law isn't going far enough.

Aye thats really going to help the boy. His mum is already dead, his Grans now dead.
Now while I think the Dad deserves punishment for having such a dangerous dog I'm aware its not exactly going to help the boy for his Dad to end up in prison.
Life in care is never brilliant.

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2024 09:41

Christ. There's not more to say, really, is there?

Theyarehere · 06/02/2024 11:10

What a fucking bastard. My god! Thick as XL Bully Shit!
(apologies for all the swearing).

SirChenjins · 06/02/2024 11:11

Bloody hell.

oakleaffy · 06/02/2024 12:20

These XL Pit advocates are not right in the head. They place the lives of children and vulnerable humans way below their mutant, slaughtering hellbeasts.

In America ''Pitmommies'' are a meme- the people who are drawn to these types of mutant canine are feckless and totally disregarding of people and other animals.
These misguided fools have blood on their hands in my opinion, shipping dangerous aggressive mutts around the UK.

CoatOfArms · 06/02/2024 13:51

Not a brain cell between them.
