XL bully dogs and Scotland

CoatOfArms · 22/12/2023 08:03

Another blinder by our "wonderful" government. I was not aware that the ban on these awful chav beast dogs only applied in England and Wales. No legislation to ban/restrict them in Scotland.

Some dim woman who runs a "bullie rescue" says she has been "inundated". Isn't that just marvellous.

The Scots taking in XL Bullies as England cracks down

Five-month-old Buddy has just arrived after his owner in Liverpool decided to give him up.

And the comments!! Largely - 'poor dog' - fuck me, do they really not give a thought to the people mauled?!

No of course they don't. It's all "poor wee furbaby, just needs love and lots of cuddles".

So hard of thinking.

It's the perfect storm - the hard of thinking in charge of XL bullies. What could possibly go wrong?

NeverStopTwinkling · 24/01/2024 12:26

The comments from people 🤦🏻‍♀️ honestly don't understand how fucking stupid people can be. Imagine your loved one was mauled by a dangerous dog and everyone felt sorry for the fucking dog?! Aargh. It gives me absolute rage to think about.

SerafinasGoose · 24/01/2024 12:30

SomeCatFromJapan · 24/01/2024 12:29

Oh look, surprise surprise. Adopted two weeks ago. Gratefully tried to eat its new owner:

Anyone who takes one of these things into their homes needs their bumps felt.

CoatOfArms · 24/01/2024 12:33

From the article...

"It was a big dog, probably about eight or nine stone. The dog had a hold of one of the guys and wouldn't let go. "
"There was blood everywhere. The owner was covered in blood."

Aww, precious little furbaby. It probably only "wanted a sniff" as the @Charleycccc000 's animal does. How awful for the poor wee thing to be shot, never mind the bleeding and maimed humans, what about the FURBABIES!????

Just think how long it must have taken for the armed police to actually get there from the first 999 call.
You'd assume the local police would have been sent first before they called for backup.

Their is also a couple in their 70s who have been hospitalised in Aberdeen with another dog.

Although I do think people who pass dogs on should be held responsible. If the paper has it right the owner has only had the dog a couple of weeks. The previous owner probably knew it was a dangerous dog so moved the dog on.

Absolutely nuts that Scotland didn't ban them at the same time as the rUK.

Dissimilitude · 24/01/2024 13:50

Absolutely par for the course, for the SNP. Ideological to a fault, mostly thick (now that the sensible ones have been hounded out / left), and absolutely committed to a goal that distorts their every policy action as they seek to create a rivalry with the UK.

It's an absolute joy being taxed til I bleed, whilst watching this wrecking crew pontificate endlessly on foreign conflicts and ignore the crumbling city in which I was born and in which I still live.

Could not think any less of them.

I suppose the stress and trauma of being rehomed, including transported hundreds of miles, could well have precipitated or exacerbated aggression.

Astonishing to read the FB comments saying 'what did the humans do to make the dog attack'. To answer them, one man was just walking past.

Answer: Have the cheek to be alive near an XL Bully, who swiftly tried to rectify that particular state of affairs.

You hit the nail on the head. Pay thousands more each year to have some glakit idiot piss it up the wall while wittering on in an antisemitic manner about something that is going on thousands of miles from us and has absolutely nothing to do with us. It’s so enraging. There needs to be an IQ test before voting. No one with a brain cell voted for the SNP.

Outthedoor24 · 24/01/2024 15:53

@ArabellaScott possibly the move wouldn't have helped but its not the first time dogs have attacked just after a move.

If the dog is dangerous put it to sleep don't pass it on and make it worse and someone else's problem.
The previous owners should carry some legal responsibility both to the dog and the new owners.

Dooglydog · 24/01/2024 16:32

I’ve just seen a post on the local dog services fb page, and I’m pretty sure it’s an xl bully, doesn’t say but it bloody looks like one.

looking for someone to rehome an 18 month old male, that is very aggressive and lunges on the lead, but is very loving apparently. I clicked on the shared post and the owner had commented, (the post was by someone else), but the owner had a post on her page saying she was looking to rehome the dog as he was attacking and very human aggressive. According to comments he’s bitten

and all the comments were saying oh someone will definitely take him, you can’t put him down. It also said the sspca won’t take him and won’t put him down. And the owner was saying she can’t afford to put him down.

fucking hell.

BigBoysDontCry · 24/01/2024 16:37

Probably about to be abandoned on the streets then?

I'm no dog hater and it's clearly not the animal's fault it's been bred in the first place, but maybe instead of paying ransom money to terrorists we could fund some appointments for these unwanted and unhomeable dogs to be humanely put to sleep?

Just organise an amnesty where they can be surrendered and appropriately dealt with.

oakleaffy · 24/01/2024 16:55

This is terrifying.
These are large, unstable fighting breeds that are far too powerful and fixated when attacking to be Stopped.
Time after time high powered firearms are needed, and it takes several rounds to kill the “Dog”
They aren’t really dogs, more like a mauling pig hippo 🦛-
This afternoon met someone whose workmate has one as a Guard dog trained for “ Bite work”
It has already savaged another large rescue” dog of guarding type.
They are not safe or nice dogs to have in society-
Innocent pets and people shouldn’t suffer from their innate aggression.

ArabellaScott · 24/01/2024 07:49

No, in a word.
There is something very unfeeling in Bully Xl and Pit advocates.

SerafinasGoose · 24/01/2024 17:16

Looks as though 'All Bullie Rescue', whose proprietor for some unfathomable reason didn't want to reveal the whereabouts of her outfit, has been outed in the media.

Her website claims she prides herself on taking 'challenging' dogs that other [sensible] rescues have refused to help. From the images posted online the fencing is half-falling down, has slats missing and doesn't look remotely secure, and is only about 3 feet high. A dog of that size and weight could easily breach that kind of insubstantial partition.

As for the photos posted on her gallery, at least one of those images looks to me very like a red-nosed pit bull. (Advertised as 'NOT an XL Bully?') Predicably, their website is full of emotive-sounding, trite language like 'forever home'. What could possibly go wrong? (As for predictable cliches, I sense an unspoken 'but he's never done that before!', hanging in the air).

I pity her immediate neighbourhood!

Dooglydog · 24/01/2024 17:20

The person I posted about a few posts up, the post was deleted (I think I can’t find it) from the dog group. I searched the dogs name plus the posters name and it turns out she’s been scamming people claiming she can transport xl bully’s to Scotland. Claiming she’s less than an hour away from northern England, we’re at least 4 hours to the borders.

and there was a post on her page, posted 3 hours after the original post, saying she’s not giving up on him. 😬😬😬

Outthedoor24 · 24/01/2024 18:26

@Dooglydog that's exactly the reason I believe people who sell dogs should be legally responsible any damage the dog does - they should also be legally responsible to ensure the dog goes to a good home.

Doesn't matter the size of the dog, the owner / breader should be responsible. But it seems that so many of these dogs are passed on when the owners are frightened of them rather than being responsible and having it put down.

oakleaffy · 24/01/2024 18:28

Seems to be a psychological issue with these Pit apologists- The same type who write to violent men in Jail, thinking their love alone can “ Save” him.
A kind of misplaced egotism.
”’I can manage him! He won’t hurt ME”

People used to dealing with dangerous dogs and animals- Bulls&c are never so arrogant.

They remain ever conscious of safety of themselves, and other animals around them.

These Pits and XL Pits so often have the same attack history- Suddenly turning without warning.

As to the Pit Bully All Pittie Rescue- isn’t she coining it in with donations to strengthen fencing and having secure cages for these fighting breeds?

It’ll be carnage there -These Pis are not generally good with other dogs.
It’s madness.

oakleaffy · 24/01/2024 21:13

ArabellaScott · 24/01/2024 18:56

I'd like that to be true, oakleaffy, but this man was very experienced by all accounts, of dealing with difficult/reactive dogs.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/24/kennel-owner-dies-after-attack-by-rescue-dog-near-dundee

That was a tragic and shocking case.
This just shows how dangerous these Pit crosses are.

There definitely is something wrong with a lot of these dogs. Hair-trigger aggression towards people and other, peaceful dogs, cats or livestock.

They are supposedly very difficult to 'read' with their small, deep set, hard eyes -

This man must have felt 'capable' to have taken it on.

I wonder what caused it to attack? Seems they leap up and their massive strength and bite force drags the human to the ground.

This female dog owner was killed {mauled horribly} by her aggressive Pits at an animal Clinic.
No one heard anything..as with the Gravelly Hill Pit attack.

They are just so scary.
For them to be able to kill fully grown adults and the frequency of it happening.

Who'd actually heard of XL Bully's 2 or 3 years ago?

They seem to be a recent 'Thing' -Exacerbated by Lockdown and back yard breeding?

From 'Mirror' :
*''The XL Bully saw a huge surge in popularity in the UK as breeders sought to create a "bigger and stronger" version of the American pit bull. Pit bull terriers are banned in the UK. Dr Emma Chandley, a vet with more than 10 years' experience, exclusively told Mirror Brits have become so attracted to XL Bullies because of the damage they can cause to humans, and she is unsurprised to have seen a "big boom" in attacks lately.

Speaking from her practice in Cheshire, Dr Chandley said: "We've got loads of people having dogs that perhaps don't know how to look after them properly, and then also there's the attraction of the sort of XL Bullies and other big muscly dogs with specific-shaped jaws which are capable of doing a lot of damage, like we've seen they've done when they attack humans.*''
