Scottish Green’s and Palestine

Vilepoliticians · 10/10/2023 22:37

Maggie Chapman of the Scottish Green Party said of the Hamas attacks:

“What’s happening in #Palestine is a consequence of #Apartheid, of illegal occupation, m & of imperial aggression by the Israel state. Palestinian civilians have seen their homes destroyed, their water stolen & their land appropriated illegally.”

Now that it seems Hamas has been beheading babies, can we now remove these vile people from our government? There is no justification that can be given for the butchering of toddlers. None whatsoever. This party has dove so much harm to environmental issues by their views on Palestine and blatant mysoginy, but this is just wholly despicable. These people have to go - now! They are a disgrace to Scotland and a disgrace to all politicians. Total and utter scum of the earth.

I feel for the innocent civilians trapped in Gaza tonight, being attacked by Israel. I feel for those grieving innocent civilians too. Hamas are scum, but their western supporters are unspeakably awful. I am so angry tonight that we have such truly odious people representing us.

Do Hamas have 'western supporters'?

bellac11 · 10/10/2023 22:41

I mean as a general rule. Im sure there are the odd bods who are extreme fanatics who think like Hamas.

Vilepoliticians · 10/10/2023 22:47

Yup Jeremy Corbyn is a fan. The greens seem to be determined to ‘both sides’ such horrendous terrorism.

Corbyn is a supporter of Hamas?

Or supporter of Palestine and the Palestinian people?

Rainbowshit · 10/10/2023 22:53

Maggie Chapman is an absolute disgrace. All the greens are. They need to be ejected from our government. They are dangerous.

Corbyn has indeed described Hamas as his ‘friends’ in the past.

Chapman is batshit in general so this isn't surprising. Really hope Scotland votes her out at the soonest opportunity.

Well good job he got chucked out when he did then I suppose, more disappointment about him.

Im not sure there are many actual supporters of Hamas though, I would hope not anyway.

Jeremy Corbyn has condemned the attrocities Hamas have carried out.

He previously described Hamas as "friends", because at the time was trying to get the two sides in the conflict to talk to each other. He has said since he regrets using that language.

And before everyone launches in with cries of "antisemite" he has also stated numerous times that "Jews were “no more responsible for the actions of Israel” than Muslims were for the “various self-styled Islamic states or organisations”.

bellac11 · 11/10/2023 19:09

Personally I wasnt going to launch into accusations of anti semite. I think its completely oversused.

Yes. More than you'd think.

Start with Irish Republicanism and work your way across to Scottish Nationalists as well as left wingers such as Jeremy Corbyn et al.

Ineedaholiday23 · 14/10/2023 08:13

@DownNative

Educate yourself.

The LEADER of the SNP has family that are currently stuck in Gaza. Others have family that have been killed or injured within Israel.

Ineedaholiday23 · 14/10/2023 08:18

Horrendous comment to make.

Motheranddaughter · 15/10/2023 11:38

Have read that Scottish Government have donated500k to Palestinian aid
Is this a normal thing for them to do

I think you need better reading comprehension! Please quote where I mentioned Humza or SNP?

Of course! 🤦‍♂️

I'm pointing out for people to look more closely at the links themselves.

Scottish Nationalism isn't restricted to SNP and the support don't necessarily share the party view.

But there is a longstanding link between Irish Republicanism and Scottish Nationalism. Perhaps the most overt demonstration of this in Scotland is the Celtic Green Brigade who support PSF/PIRA and are pro-Palestine too.

Most Palestinians support Palestinian terrorist groups. A minority do not.

DownNative · 15/10/2023 12:02

Will SNP leadership remove Manal Shqair and Kamel Hawwash as panel "experts" at an event linked with SNP conference?

Greens Maggie Chapman has already made very controversial remarks about Hamas too.

And the Tories are not!?

Bubblegum13 · 21/11/2023 20:33

This post is so ignorant I literally have no words 🤦🏻‍♀️

FloweryName · 21/11/2023 20:41

Most Palestinians support Palestinian terrorist groups.

No. Most Palestinians support Palestinian resistance against apartheid and oppression.

I’m sorry I don’t have the option of voting for the Scottish greens.

Has anyone seen any credible evidence for the ‘beheading babies’ nonsense yet?

Rainbowshit · 21/11/2023 21:11

@Bubblegum13 ah the old if you don't support indy parties you're a Tory nonsense. Sorry to bust your bubble petal but I don't support the Tories either. That all you have is whataboutery is noted though.

Does anyone want to see evidence of beheaded babies. Hamas murdered babies, and old people, and young adults having a fun time, and ordinary people who loved living and didn’t want to die. Is that not enough for you? If not why not? Is it cause they are Jewish?

No ... But the Israeli government have said they cannot confirm that baby's were beheaded. President biden retracted his statements. The burnt bodies were found to be burnt bodies from the Israeli apache helicopters.

So there is a lot of questions to be asked as this has been used to excuse the deaths of many children. Not that any of it was excuse that anyway.

Bubblegum13 · 21/11/2023 20:33

Agreed.

Babies have been dismembered, decapitated, blown to smithereens, starved, operated on without any anaesthetic. Every day for weeks.

The average age of those murdered in Gaza is 5.

Of course, the killing of youths in Gaza has happened for many years. And will, sadly continue to happen as the Israeli government do kill innocent children with no retribution from the wider world.

Vilepoliticians · 21/11/2023 21:40

There is no way I’d vote Scottish greens (though I have in the past to my shame!) as they have shown that environmental issues are so so so far down their list of priorities. After a war in a far off land we have zero influence over, and handing over women’s hard-won rights to men. They are utterly, utterly despicable cretins. I didn’t think there would ever be a worse party than the SNP, but the Scottish greens win easily.

I hope they have! 👏 shows compassion unlike the Tory party or Labour Party who can't even vote for a ceasefire.
