Scottish Green’s and Palestine

Maggie Chapman of the Scottish Green Party said of the Hamas attacks:

“What’s happening in #Palestine is a consequence of #Apartheid, of illegal occupation, m & of imperial aggression by the Israel state. Palestinian civilians have seen their homes destroyed, their water stolen & their land appropriated illegally.”

Now that it seems Hamas has been beheading babies, can we now remove these vile people from our government? There is no justification that can be given for the butchering of toddlers. None whatsoever. This party has dove so much harm to environmental issues by their views on Palestine and blatant mysoginy, but this is just wholly despicable. These people have to go - now! They are a disgrace to Scotland and a disgrace to all politicians. Total and utter scum of the earth.

I feel for the innocent civilians trapped in Gaza tonight, being attacked by Israel. I feel for those grieving innocent civilians too. Hamas are scum, but their western supporters are unspeakably awful. I am so angry tonight that we have such truly odious people representing us.

@Bubblegum13 ah the old if you don't support indy parties you're a Tory nonsense. Sorry to bust your bubble petal but I don't support the Tories either. That all you have is whataboutery is noted though.

So what party would you vote for?

The ones who support the IDF (war criminals)

I've just read that the Scottish Parliament has passed a call for a ceasefire.

All parties apart from the Scottish Tories voted in favour of a ceasefire.

Can’t you see what the Scottish Parliament did or did not do in relation to Palestine has zero affect on the conflict?

When did wanting people to stop killing each other become a contraversial view?

This has got spicy.

Think we all need to understand that it’s not a simple situation.

It’s natural for people to want to pick a side and see things as black and white or right and wrong but it’s not the case here.

It’s ok for there not to be a good guy in this mess.

It’s easy to look at a snapshot such as the Hamas attack and make your mind up, it was wrong and is rightly condemned.

It’s also right to state that this didn’t happen in a vacuum.

There have been brutalities committed on both sides of this for over 70 years.

The Irgun massacred entire villages of Arabs during the founding of Israel and there’s been events which have had higher death counts since then.

It’s also fair to say that Palestinian Deaths provoke less outrage and get less attention than white Israeli ones.

There is bias towards European (or European descended) people in the western media and political arena in general.

Just look at the outpouring of support for Ukraine compared to barely any recognition about Sudan or Sri Lanka.

The anger of people on both sides is understandable.

But there also has to be dialogue at one point, hopefully resulting in a peace protected by the United Nations as there’s no good guy here, just a long list of wrongs creating more wrongs and hatred.

Which innocent people will keep paying for.

@LookingUp2021 Thank you.

Some of the comments on here demonstrate how genocides are accepted and viewed as 'the right thing to do' by women. Beyond sad.
