I'm just surprise to hear that someone gets a fortnightly collection. Ours are all 4 weeks now apart from the food bin/garden waste which is fortnightly but then you have to pay if you want the garden waste collected. So we get our standard size wheelie for recycling, our general waste bin, our paper and card bin and our box for glass collected every 4 weeks.

KnittingNeedles · 18/04/2023 20:49

No it's still a weekly collection here (East Dunbartonshire) it alternates one week general waste, other week recycling. During the summer the garden waste gets picked up the same week as the general waste. Our recycling bins are smaller than a standard wheelie bin though so maybe that's why?

MrSheepy · 18/04/2023 20:51

it’s all just a giant exercise in what happens when there is zero accountability. At least when the FM was Labour and the UK government was Labour, the FM couldn’t get away with pointing down south and saying “it’s all their fault”. They’ve just sidestepped taking responsibility for anything for years.

GrouchyKiwi · 18/04/2023 20:52

We have a fortnightly landfill collection, monthly garden waste (though they're going to charge us for that from next year), and weekly recycling.

BlueThursday · 18/04/2023 21:47

@KnittingNeedles edc will give you extra recycling bins for free if like me you’re a complete booze hound and need more orange bins 😳

BigBoysDontCry · 18/04/2023 21:52

I'm pretty good at doing all my recycling but we really have no choice as even with a completely full to the brim of squashed recycling, the landfill bin is completely full every month and you just can't have any sort of a clear out without plans to go to the cowp. It's the stuff that just has nowhere else to go. Non recyclable plastics, cat litter, kitchen sponges, used kitchen roll, hoover waste, tatty clothes that can't be donated, broken shoes and so on

Sugarfree23 · 18/04/2023 21:58

Colin has been released without charge.

Who's next in the who dunnit?

Peter was nicked on a Wednesday
Colin was nicked on a Tuesday 13 days later

TokyoSushi · 18/04/2023 22:40

I think Nic is the grand finale, so not just yet, but soon...

Sugarfree23 · 18/04/2023 22:50

When the whole Isla Bryson thing came out Mr Salmond wasn't impressed and made comments about how stupid the GRR bill was and how it had put back the Indy campaign that had been slowly building for decades.

He's been remarkably quiet 🤫. I can't help wonder what he's thinking. Good new for him and Alba, sitting back with the 🍿

I can’t even get my head round rhe possibility they have been on the rob. They are clearly arresting them so they can interview under caution, but if you really think about what’s happening it’s actually deeply shocking. It makes Boris and his glass of bubbles at a staff party pale into insignificance. It is behind shocking police were digging up their garden and appear to think about 600 grand has been stolen.

Sugarfree23 · 18/04/2023 23:00

Exactly I was thinking that the other week. I wrote a long post and deleted it as it was going on a bit. You managed to say it in a sentence.

TokyoSushi · 18/04/2023 23:02

It's absolutely unbelievably shocking, and if Sturgeon has knowingly been involved with stealing/misusing this money then well, wow, I really didn't see that one coming.

I just can't fathom what will happen if the SNP is actually pretty much bankrupt. What will happen to the MSP's? Will they need to have an election in Scotland.

Here in England it's being covered with quite a light touch in the news, whereas I think it's a massive story!

Sugarfree23 · 18/04/2023 23:11

I cant fathom it either.
I'm totally intrigued with the idea of the governing party going bust.

MPs / MSPs are voted individually - they can jump to any party they want. Or be independent.
SNP needed the Greens to have a majority/ form government.

If enough MSPs leave SNP and join together, SNP/Green could loose the majority. Would they still see out the term in Government?

It will happen patience.

What's the chances of her actually being charged, sent to Cornton Vale?

BlueThursday · 19/04/2023 05:37

Salmond was on newsnight on Monday. I only had one ear on it really but he appeared very angry at all this, saying all the work to get to 45% had pretty much been undone

ThatsGenderwang · 19/04/2023 05:59

The Telegraph this morning online is leading with HY’s refusal to suspend anyone from the SNP while it investigates, as would be normal.

HY doesn’t understand what suspension is (ie neutral). Just keeps blathering about ‘innocent until proven guilty’. He is a stupid man and/or being directed by earpiece straight to Nic.

This just gets more and more farcical. You couldn’t run a parish council like this, let alone a country.

It’s some feat to hold senior roles, with such a portfolio of many colours; health, transport, justice and still not know about any chat from the grown ups table 🤷‍♀️

TokyoSushi · 19/04/2023 08:00

They should be suspended, HY is sitting on the fence with his 'innocent until proven guilty' but actually that's not the right course of action, but the truth is he has no idea what to do, bet he didn't envisage this in his first few weeks! It's too 'big' for him to handle and he'll just end up tying himself in knots.

You're very honest - I'd be stuffing these things at the bottom of the recycling bins and letting the council deal with the consequences I'm afraid

HyuNis · 19/04/2023 08:11

I'm loving the way I click on a thread entitled Sturgeon's husband arrested and it's now discussing recycling Grin
You gotta love Mumsnet!

KnittingNeedles · 19/04/2023 08:26

It's very poor that someone who is in charge, akin to a senior manager, thinks that suspension is a punishment. Everyone who has ever worked in any sort of professional organisation knows that suspension is a neutral act which gives time and space to investigate the facts.

Although whether the SNP could investigate their way out of a paper bag is another story.

Agreed…but he can’t do anything but double down now else he thinks it will make him look like he’s doing a u-turn and his ego can’t cope with that. So much for doing the right thing, transparency, good governance etc…it’s all hypocritical bullshit from the SNP

Shelefttheweb · 19/04/2023 08:57

The reason why you suspend is because if they are guilty it prevents them doing any further harm, but they remain on full pay so they don’t suffer lose if they are innocent (though stress would still be significant). If you were concerned about a paedophile in a nursery, killing babies in ICU, or someone embezzling funds at a bank, you don’t wait until they have been found guilty before you step in to protect children and babies or client funds. But what do you expect from a party who consider safeguarding a hate crime.

ThatsGenderwang · 19/04/2023 09:08

What a thought, that he'll have to come up with an alternative form of words to save face, as he now can't say 'suspension' without looking like the massive twot that he is. Something like 'mutually agreed neutral abeyance of membership. BUT THEY'RE NAE SUSPENDED PAL.'

But that's this SNP all over, playing fast and loose with ethics and the meanings of words.
