I wonder what the mileage is on the motorhome. What holidays campaigning journeys has it been on?

CelticSong · 13/04/2023 23:03

Yes, the baby boxes, one of Sturgeons proudest achievements … that along with the decline in Scottish education. Words fail me.

Sugarfree23 · 13/04/2023 23:15

Right so it does belong to SNP.

Has Murell been paying the correct BIK on it???

stealtheatingtunnocks · 13/04/2023 23:26

Hang on, the exec of the snp are LIABLE?

rhey aren’t limited?

is that usual?

Rainbowshit · 13/04/2023 23:28

Of any of them on the NEC had any sense they should resign now.... oh!

@stealtheatingtunnocks this was on wings over Scotland site.

I understand it as limited companies have limited liablity up to the values of the company.

so each member of the NEC is personally legally responsible for the party finances.

directors of limited companies also have other legal responsibilities. I would hope details of the directors of the SNP are available through companies house.

they would appear to have failed in this role and their ignorance should not be an excuse.

Sugarfree23 · 14/04/2023 07:41

I couldn't find SNP in Companies House the other day.
I don't think political parties are limited companies.

I don't think political parties are limited companies.

They are included in the Companies Act 2006 but it's the electoral commission which keeps a record of all parties and which ones raise funds by campaigning/selling etc.

So yes there is liability which falls upon those who have signed similar to charities.

Workerbeep · 14/04/2023 08:10

@Sugarfree23 i haven’t a clue if they a limited company, a pp mentioned above they thought they were.

whatever. this attempt at wriggling away and good show of ignorance is pathetic.

I don’t swallow Joanne cherry’s cries of ‘we tried but were shouted down’ either.
she was prepared to shut up and wheest for Indy after this and all she was put through with the GRR, and she still stays with them and doesn’t become an independent MP. What on Earth has she been promised in an independent Scotland? I have lost all respect for her as a politician.

BigBoysDontCry · 14/04/2023 08:33

Yes re Cherry. Just because she had a competent opinion on one matter doesn't make her a hero. Clearly she wanted to stay on the gravy bus rather than make a stand and tell them to fuck themselves.

Agreed re Cherry. Andy Wightman, with whom I agree on almost nothing, took a principled stand and left the Greens.

Andy is a published author and will make a living from his books, journalism and speaking engagements but I doubt his safety net is as good as Cherry's (although tbh, I've no idea if she was any good at the Bar)

Mochudubh · 14/04/2023 13:54

@BigBoysDontCry I'm not sure why it always reminds me of the SNP.🤔

Could it possibly be "it stinks to high Heaven" ?

Scottishskifun · 14/04/2023 14:07

Well the twitter jungle drums are going again apparently a few members have dropped SNP from their twitter bios and therefore that means that the SNP are going for insolvency........

Again think it's wishful thinking by twitter rumours but does seem a bit odd!

Notapartyanimal · 14/04/2023 14:18

It is a bit weird, though...even wee Nicky has removed it from her bio. What do you think it means? Insolvency? A new party?! Just trying to distance themselves from the chaos...?

Sugarfree23 · 14/04/2023 14:45

Can a political party become insolvent?

I've never really given much consideration to the financial set up of any of this stuff.

The MPs / MSPs aren't really employees of the parties, but the parties must have some employees, admin staff etc.

I heard they have to 22nd May to get new auditors. If they don't they loose there grant or something.

If they become insolvent what happens to Scottish Government?

Apparently Blackford and Mhairi hunter also have. How weird.

They’ve removed the SNP logo from their bio? I don’t have Twitter so can’t see the juicy goss

NicolaSturGONE · 14/04/2023 15:49

If the party becomes insolvent, what does that mean?
And surely becoming insolvent makes no difference to a twitter bio?
All those msps wouldn't remove the logo all at the same time if not instructed to do so.
All very wierd.

Sugarfree23 · 14/04/2023 15:56

Trying to think though the issued if the party become insolvent.

MPs / MSPs are all voted in, in their own merit? Am I correct in thinking they can change their party allegiances without loosing their seats / jobs?

Could a bunch of them suddenly become Independent or join Alba?

But Humza still has SNP so does Cherry and a few others.....it seems more of a WhatsApp group than a party direction! It might be nothing but definitely has sent twitter into a bit of a conspiracy theory mode!

Sugarfree23 · 14/04/2023 16:20

Humza has the issue that if he jumps ship he looses the First Minister job.

But then if SNP are insolvent.
Can they still be the ruling party?
Would anyone want them to be?

If SNP go down he really could end up being in the job less time than Truss.

How attractive are the SNP to potential donors at the minute?

Depends what they can get the Scottish Government to do in return…
