Guesses on the new cabinet and new CEO

I'm an independence supporter who's really disheartened by HY's win.

The only good think I can say is I hope someone better will take over heath?

Maybe Kate- I think he has to give her a top spot, but I can't see him stretching to making her deputy first minister.

But more likely Angus Robertson for deputy.

I really hope Shirley Anne Somerville gets demoted as she's toxic.

I think Mairi McAllan will get a promotion as will Christina McKelvie.

Neil Grey will get bumped up as he ran HY's campaign. Ivan McKee will probably get demoted for supporting Kate.

Any other thoughts?

I'm not a supporter and I'm a hater of the SNP but, Sturgeon for CEO? Will she need to resign her MSP status? They may delay filling that until some police investigations complete.

As for the rest, there are none with any competence so it really doesn't matter who does what. Ash will transfer to Alba I guess and I wouldn't be surprised if Kate also jumps ship (though not to Alba) but she may just exercise patience and wait to see how long Humza lasts.

Aphrathestorm · 28/03/2023 14:23

Oh goodness what if NS ends up the CEO!?!

My bet is that PM and NS announce an amicable seperation as the first stage of the comeback. I'm on the fence as to whether they will take this opportunity to come out the closet.

Sturgeon then either becomes CEO or back to FM when Humza fecks up.

My personal hope is that there isn't an SNP of any significance by then but who knows...

Also wondering how or how often she will attend holyrood given she can't drive and the train won't be as convenient from her house to holyrood? Maybe one of her pals will give her a lift?

Aphrathestorm · 28/03/2023 15:00

I can't see her staying in a house in an isolated estate like that without her ministerial car!

LongWhiteCar · 28/03/2023 15:04

I’ve heard speculation that NS could come back as FM but I’d be surprised.
I think regardless of her personal ambitions, she needs to distance herself until the various investigations have been carried out.
I suspect she’ll be at every Book Festival going.

Angus Robertson seems to have support but I guess he’ll also want to position himself to become FM at some point.
I’m not sure if becoming Deputy would be a good move in that case.

Perhaps Mr Murrell has splashed out on some shiny new wheels and that’s why Nicola’s having driving lessons.
Although, given that Nicola has earned more money as First Minister of Scotland than the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, I’m sure she can afford to but her own car without worrying about where the money actually came from.

BigBoysDontCry · 28/03/2023 15:05

Agree, maybe she'll move to her Bridge of Allan abode? Train direct to Edinburgh (except when they decide to stop at Stirling if they are running late...) it's still a fair schlep to Waverly station - especially on the way back and also a fair hike up the hill back to her house in BofA.

Aphrathestorm · 28/03/2023 16:16

Shona Robison is deputy FM.

Shona Robison is deputy FM.

God help us 😂

Aphrathestorm · 28/03/2023 16:19

Maybe she'll get taxis everywhere like her other non driving pal Susan Aitken.

LongWhiteCar, It is untrue that the First Minister of Scotland is paid more than the U.K. Prime Minister.

Last year Nicola Sturgeon was due to be paid £140,496 from her employment as an MSP and First Minister. The U.K. Prime Minister’s salary is £164,951.

However, since April 2009, Scottish ministers have frozen their pay and declined to accept their full salary entitlement, with the remainder going towards public spending. This means NS was paid just over £113k with over £27k going into the public purse.

Any news of the Tory cabinet at Westminster doing the same?

TheGaffer · 28/03/2023 17:43

Oh and Kate’s off…don’t blame her but that’s a blow for the SNP I think.

Runningslow · 28/03/2023 17:54

This is all so depressing. Non-Indy voter so I should see the positives, but Shona Robison was awful wrt the GRR.

NicolaSturGONE · 28/03/2023 18:49

Useless has already made his first mistake, not keeping Kate on side when she came so close behind him, but maybe the Greens made her demotion a condition of their continued support given her views? Wonder if she and Ash Regan will join Alba?

LlynTegid · 28/03/2023 18:57

The Labour Party in Scotland must be rubbing their hands with glee.

rogdmum · 28/03/2023 18:59

God we’re doomed. 😡

PSNonsense · 28/03/2023 19:00

Aphrathestorm · 28/03/2023 16:16

Shona Robison is deputy FM.

Hopefully another nail in the SNP coffin.

Dente · 28/03/2023 19:02

I hate the SNP so I’m glad HY got in. The party will crumble, drug deaths will fall and attainment will improve.

I just can’t wait to see what happens with the JD strikes 🍿

Dente · 28/03/2023 19:04

HY is so incompetent he got caught driving without insurance when he was transport secretary 👍

rogdmum · 28/03/2023 19:16

I’m REALLY worried they are going to prioritise pushing through the conversion therapy bill now.

Shelefttheweb · 28/03/2023 22:40

NS won’t be back - she’ll have her sights set on the international stage, possibly as a ‘person from the UN’.

NatashaDancing · 28/03/2023 23:35

Dente · 28/03/2023 19:04

HY is so incompetent he got caught driving without insurance when he was transport secretary 👍

He's a joke. I'm so glad he won.

Actually he's not a joke. I think he's a nasty, arrogant piece of work. The spitting with rage "white" speech and the persecution of the nursery was appalling.

PacificallyRequested · 28/03/2023 23:41

@BigBoysDontCry Do you believe all the shite you read on social media?

Er not according to Scottish Government's own website.

I'm not particularly interested in Sturgeon virtue signalling about not taking her full salary. If the job is worth the salary, then that's what should be paid.

First Minister £96,567 £163,229

NatashaDancing · 29/03/2023 00:08

I'm related, fortunately only by marriage, so not really related to an SNP MSP. It'd be insulting to mince to say they are as thick as mince, since at least mince fulfils a purpose.

Heaven forfend they get a cabinet post, but it's not completely outwith bounds of possibility.

Can you find a thicker MSP than Emma Harper?
