Anyone been to a nice wedding recently? Looking for venues 30 mins from Glasgow :)

Looking for a traditional hotel package, with reasonable value rooms for people to stay over. I know that 'good value' is pretty much out of the window but mostly interested in good food and lots of it.

One mildly OTT requirement is a separate lounge space/ reception area where my elderly granny and a few others could sit and chat. She's not the type to be up doing the slosh Grin

Slightly more than 30 mins but Seamill Hydro is gorgeous. They've just done the wedding area up. Gorgeous grounds, access to a private beach for photos, loads of rooms & various options for Granny to sit

This was lovely, beside the river, separate lodge for the bride before the wedding, I think we sat in a separate room before the wedding started - but 50 minutes from central Glasgow.

I've been to both places and they are stunning but just too far out- lots of young families and older relatives coming.

I'm also happy to stay in city centre if anyone has any experience of the Hiltons etc.

DH went to a wedding in Oran Mor but said it's quite inaccessible with stairs etc (see: granny).

Boclair House, House for an Art Lover, Ingilston Country Club all
gorgeous.

glenbervie house hotel in Larbert is lovely, maybe slightly further out than you're looking for though?

Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew has nice rooms and also quieter, separate bar areas. Handy for Glasgow, the airport etc

I went to a wedding here before lockdown. It was the best wedding I've ever been to.

I was going to say the Fairfield hotel in Ayr sounds ideal but it might be a bit far out for you. It’s got gorgeous beach views of arran for photos and the kids could run on the beach and the low green. There’s a nice bar area at the restaurant or some seating in the lobby where the fire is for the older ones. It’s less than an hour from Glasgow and has an AA rosette for the food.

We got married in the Grand Central Hotel attached to Central Station. Its a beautiful venue and was the nicest and best value our of all the ones we looked at. The wedding planner was fantastic and the rooms and meal was amazing.

I really like that they advertise a bespoke menu. I love the look of House for an Art Lover but the meal is so fussy. I'm a plain gal!

The Brisbane in Largs is lovely, Brig of Doon if you are flash. There's the Bowfield in Howwood which is stunning and the Lynhurst in Johnstone 👍

Lillipops · 19/07/2022 21:18

Flush not flash Confused

OnaBegonia · 19/07/2022 21:21

House for an Art Lover will
work with you on the menu, my sister was married there, whole day it was fantastic.

bigyellowcandle · 19/07/2022 21:22

Neither flush nor flash tbh Grin We know it's going to cost an arm and a leg, so I do want good value.

Ingliston Country Club Is about 30 mins from Glasgow. Which is lovely my friends got married there.
Dalmeny park hotel Barrhead about 20 mins outside GCC, is also lovely.
The Fenwick hotel is about 20 mins from Glasgow a good value for money option.

stuckasachildagain · 19/07/2022 21:36

Rowallan Castle near Kilmarnock. Absolutely stunning and fantastic staff who are happy to help with anything. Thoroughly recommend

MouldBuster · 19/07/2022 22:02

1599 is in the centre of Glasgow, accessible with elevators and has several reception rooms. It's also absolutely beautiful, they do everything and the food is amazing.
Not cheap though.
