@WouldBeGood I sang it out loud when I read it lol.

AmadeustheAlpaca · 23/05/2022 18:41

Thanks@WouldBeGood I had no idea about the 24 hour dental obligation, I’m pretty sure it has been well and truly ignored over the last few years.

boobashka · 23/05/2022 22:36

Thanks for sharing that useful info @AmadeustheAlpaca 😊

AmadeustheAlpaca · 24/05/2022 00:20

Apparently dental practices receive a certain amount of government cash allocated for emergency treatment so if this isn’t properly provided they are not fulfilling their legal duty of care. Very interesting.

railing about the DVLA

2.5 years I've been waiting on my license back after a medical issue. Should have had it back by now. Not heard a thing. Doctor has done all the forms requested and doctor says its the DVLA who are to blame. Cannot figure out how to get a hold of the DVLA, how to chase up, who to speak to etc.

Anyone know what to do?

WouldBeGood · 24/05/2022 07:56

I found this @JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue , any help?

do you have the link @WouldBeGood as I'm not sure if that's the same contact method I tried? The webchat was always switched off!

WouldBeGood · 24/05/2022 08:06

DVLA

that wouldn’t surprise me: I think there are loads of complaints about their ongoing poor service “cos covid”

Scottishskifun · 28/05/2022 17:57

I know I like a broken record but railing about SG lack of funding and trying to justify their substandard care for long covid sufferers.......£3 million works out at £22 per person (with a underestimate on number of sufferers) compared to £198million spent in a sodding census!

I'm pretty recovered now but it took a while and a lot of money and it treated/eased symptoms didnt cure them. there are children with this as well as adults. Given NS gave it as a god damn excuse for so long to keep her sodding powers the least they could do is set up proper clinics and start supporting people.

Absolute joke their lack of support and keep giving the same excuses over and over. For a party that cares for the people they really don't give a crap if it costs them money they don't want to spend.

Blimeyherewegoagain · 28/05/2022 18:04

The only way they’ll up the spending is if her ladyship ends up with long covid. But then she’ll have access to private care so maybe not…

BinBandit · 28/05/2022 19:42

I highly doubt that "she who shall not be named" even has covid. It's another fucking squirrel.

MichelleScarn · 28/05/2022 19:54

Re the census (and the never ending adverts with the threats of fines!) Am sure I heard on the radio its cost £10million to extend the closing date for return of it! How can that be?!

sweetkitty · 28/05/2022 20:21

Can I rail about GP surgeries? Why why why are they still acting like we are in lockdown? We now have this triage system whereby you call at 8am and are out in a queue then the receptionist decides whether you can speak to a doctor. If you are deemed sick enough you are told a doctor will call you back between 9-1pm and to keep your phone clear, they ring 3 times and if you don’t pick up that’s it you’ve lost your call. This is great if you have to work. You have absolutely no chance of actually seeing a doctor, no longer can you make an appointment in advance. Twice now I have actually just self-referred myself to a private specialist rather than go through the GP and then wait for a year. Luckily I could afford to pay what about people who can’t?

ScottishBeeswax · 28/05/2022 20:59

@sweetkitty my student DD is registered at a practice where you cannot phone to speak to anyone or book an appointment. There is no phone number, only an emergency line.
She MUST fill in an e-consult form snd it's then triaged. The GP then emails back

A few weeks ago she did this and she still hasn't received the treatment. Pharmacy didn't receive the prescription and she's emailed the surgery several times snd they just kept replying asking her questions like what date did you see GP? Well she didn't SEE a GP🤷🏼‍♀️
So she has given up trying and her issue still hasn't cleared up as she never got it treated!

I am really wondering WTF I pay my taxes for. She has hardly ever been to the GP in her life and now she needs treatment for a condition she can't get it!

sweetkitty · 28/05/2022 21:32

@ScottishBeeswax it’s a joke isn’t it? Everywhere else has gone back to relative normality apart from GP surgeries. DS had a problem with his toenail, we had to do a phone consult, the GP didn’t even see his toe she basically said it would be about 9 months to see a NHS podiatrist. I phoned a private podiatrist and he was seen that week. This is what they want though 🙄

ScottishBeeswax · 28/05/2022 21:54

We have a national shortage of GPs which has been looming for several years. This was known and warned about and the authorities have failed to plan for it.

IMO covid is now being used as an excuse to cover this up. People are just not seeking medical advice as it's too difficult.
It really worries me how elderly people are managing

Haudyourwheesht · 28/05/2022 23:02

There's speculation that that's how monkey pox has spread: folk either don't go to their GP because it's too bloody awkward, or GPs misdiagnose based on likelihood because they're not seeing the patient in person.

God knows what else is running rampant (only half joking!)

Dinoteeth · 28/05/2022 23:54

Covid is definitely being used as an excuse for many things, including GPs not going back to normal.

But its a bit of a stretch to blame the spread of Monkeypox on the poor state of the NHS. Other countries are also counting Monkeypox and probably have much better funded health services.

WouldBeGood · 29/05/2022 01:18

The GP thing is a fucking disgrace, and I can’t believe they’re getting away with it

OP posts:
Tiredoftiers · 29/05/2022 08:55

Anyone else still getting fill in your census letters, we’re now at 6! Filled it in way back when it was due, then got a reminder couldn’t get back in to see if it was completed. Then got another reminder, emailed them and they confirmed it was completed, had another 4 since then. No wonder it’s costing so much. Complete shambles.
The public perception of it wrecked imo by the Scottish propaganda contained within it, just ask people demographic based questions.

QueenWatevraWaNabi · 30/05/2022 12:26

I live near a railway line and can hear the station announcements. The one encouraging people to wear face coverings so other people 'feel safe' is just bonkers now. They're not even pretending it actually makes a difference!

CoralPaperweight · 30/05/2022 13:15

Joining the GP rail. Trying to book a smear. Only appointment available end of June - can't book July date as diaries not made up. Slots only available 8.30 - 9.10 which is a nightmare for me. No provision in place for women who are perimenopausal - only option is to keep booking appointments and cancelling ... why can't they offer home HPV testing like other areas in England as this is all they are looking for in the first instance?

Now trying to find paediatric dermatologist for DS to go private. Finally got to see NHS dermatologist end of last year 18 months after being referred (Covid) and no sign of original skin issue so discharged. But it's now come back and it will be another huge wait if we try and engage with NHS - GP will not refer until we have spend months using various creams and then we will have months of wait after this.

Blimeyherewegoagain · 30/05/2022 13:58

You can book a private HPV test to do at home through Superdrug. This was my back up plan if I had been unable to get an appointment.
I’ve been in a monogamous relationship for a long time so if I’m HPV negative I probably bother after this one. My last smear was quite traumatic and I was still spotting 3 days after.

Blimeyherewegoagain · 30/05/2022 13:59

*won’t

CoralPaperweight · 30/05/2022 16:06

Yeah I'd seen the Superdrug ones but was quite keen to go to GP simply because needed to have treatment before (albeit a long time ago). Although bastard nurses really hurt me last time around and complained at length about not being able to get my cervix (took 2 of them and 30 mins to actually perform smear in the end).
