@ResilienceWanker

You'd select non binary, no?

There isn't the option to select that, though. You have to select "yes, I consider myself to be trans" (I don't) and then write in that non binary is how I describe my trans status. But equally I can't select "no, I don't consider myself to be trans" because they have defined trans (and by definition non trans) in a way that just makes no sense to me... Like saying "my chakra and my sex are the same" or "my chakra and my sex are not the same". I just don't know what a chakra is, how I know if I've got one, or if they are aligned or whatever. I accept some people are very in tune with their chakras (chakrae?) and feel they are important... but to me, it just doesn't chime.

I am actually very binary. I am 100% female because I am biologically female. I am 100% not male, for the same reason! But that is the case whatever I am doing or whatever I am wearing or however I am feeling. I suppose if anything on the trans spectrum I would be "agender" but that implies that I believe everyone normally has a gender, but I don't (cos I'm special). I'm prepared to go as far as saying that I accept some people believe they have a gender, but wouldn't want to say that is "normal" (as in most people think that).

Though if everyone is non binary, maybe we are all oppressed and victimised minorities and need all the extra help and support and positive discrimination we can get Wink

Exactly my thoughts!!!

@User121212121212121212 yes, this shows why it’s so nonsensical.

If it’s just about the feelings why the stooshie about medical interventions being needed?

I’m feeling really angry today. Guess that means I must be a man, as it’s not very feminine 😃

Babdoc · 04/03/2022 09:09

Please go online as soon as you get your census number in the post, and request a paper copy of the census form to be sent to you. It’s free.
You can then cross out all the gender woo nonsense and write in by hand that you don’t have a gender, just a sex. If you do the census online, it’s all tick box and you are forced to accept one of their options.

ResilienceWanker · 04/03/2022 09:46

That was my first thought as a knee jerk response BUT it’s better for us to put down woman and get our male relatives & friends to also put woman so the data and provisions are slanted towards women.

Yes, the more I think about it, this seems the best thing to do! It's not false information, as the guidance specifically says it can be done. In any case, we have all been made transgender, by their definition of transgender, where "gender is not the same as sex they were registered at birth". No one's gender is the same as their sex. They are different words with different meanings (albeit mixed up in general parlance, where gender is used to stop teenagers writing "yes please" next to "sex?"" on forms Grin). So we don't have to put down our "birth certificate sex" , even without pretending we don't know what that is...

I'm sure it won't make much difference on a population level to have a few more females than they were expecting - but it will be enough to cast doubt on their data, which could have been so easily avoided. Im sure it won't be enough to substantially reduce services for males or increase them for females (especially if they realise what's going on) but they will have added work and stress to their enumerators for no particular gain. As well as making that particular question useless in terms of getting the information they wanted.

"Your sex is not something that’s a matter of opinion so this is all pish"
I'm with @WouldBeGood

#Shameonscotland trending as Shona Robison of the SG has said this:

Male & Female no longer have any meaning in Scotland
ResilienceWanker · 04/03/2022 14:03

WTAF?! Surely that is EXACTLY what predatory and abusive men do. They don't tend to rock up to someone and say "hello, I'm a predatory and abusive man, just step this way while I rape and murder you if you wouldn't mind...". Sorry, but that's a fucking stupid statement. Especially given we're remembering Sarah Everard at the moment. I mean, her murderer didn't pretend to be something he wasn't, now... Oh, wait, yes, that's exactly what he did... But no, no evidence at all... HmmAngry

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 04/03/2022 14:08

Take the shame Shona.

Well done 🤨

Waitwhat23 · 04/03/2022 14:38

I've put this on another thread but thought it applicable here too in regards to Robison's risible comment -

Very interesting piece on Scotland's GRA reforms by transwoman Debbie Hayton. She's not in favour, says the existing process includes checks and safeguards, and if these are removed predatory males will exploit the loopholes, because that's what predatory males do (look for ways to access their victims). She goes on to argue this is bad for women and transwomen alike. Refreshingly, she also openly acknowledges that sex and gender aren't interchangeable (but then she is a science teacher). Shame the SG haven't apparently consulted more measured transpeople like this, just as they didn't consult women's groups. It really seems to have been the extremists who have caught their ear. Or is it the greens driving this?

Excellent article. Both women and transwomen are losers as usual, the only beneficiary are predatory males. Sickening. The moment I give birth to a daughter I'm out of this country.
User121212121212121212 · 04/03/2022 15:59

I give birth to a woman*

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 04/03/2022 16:09

I wish NS Would speak to Debbie.

Instead of fawning round those who tell women to reframe their trauma.

It won’t take long to see that despite her protests of inclusivity and feminism, she is still only pandering to men.

Women are being failed. Transwomen and transmen are also being failed.

And I hope that Shona has a look at that Twitter link.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 04/03/2022 16:36

"And I hope that Shona has a look at that Twitter link."

It wouldn't matter if she did. She's been given her orders and told what to believe on this. All of the SNP MSPs who were openly critical of this were hounded out last year at the election.

Waitwhat23 · 04/03/2022 16:55

I also don't think Shona gives a shite either. I would suspect that she agrees with the 'feminist to her fingertips' Nicola Sturgeon that women's concerns 'aren't valid'.

WouldBeGood · 04/03/2022 17:10

I don’t think any of them give a shit, but I’m glad there were over 17k tweets

Polyanthus2 · 05/03/2022 13:00

My cons mp was v sympathetic when I sent a rant about trans w in women's sport.
Sadly my Cons msp is a wimp.

I mean the link in the Twitter post .

An incredibly moving article written in response to Robison's appalling comment. (TW - CSA) - www.scotsman.com/news/opinion/columnists/abusive-men-will-exploit-proposed-new-gender-recognition-law-susan-dalgety-3596504

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 05/03/2022 18:01

That is incredibly moving @Waitwhat23. I sincerely hope we hear more of these kinds of articles in the mainstream media to really shine a light on this and all the issues. They’ve been able to push far too much of this crap through already by pretending it’s not an issue, or it’s a small change with no negative consequences, safe on the knowledge that the majority are oblivious. It’s only with massive backlash that we’ll see an end to this.

Debbie says what it takes to make Debbie popular. Debbie still uses female toilets. Debbie can do one - we don't need another male speaking for and over women.
