I agree, it definitely looks like cases are falling, unsurprisingly, but what that means for masks is anyone's guess! I agree that it's unlikely to be before Easter if they are dropped ("subject to cases continuing to fall") which gives them another 3 (?) weeks of kicking the can around, and then another u-turn...
I mean, they're obviously not helping, but when has that ever informed restrictions?! From the 18th we won't have universal testing anyway, so no one will know how many cases there are, so everyone can say they were right based purely on anecdote
Personally, I'll be really pissed off if another Easter is fucked around with with masks and requirements for places of worship to follow ridiculous, pointless rules on distancing and sanitising and whatnot. I know it's a relatively small thing, and not something that many people care about, but being able to sing maskless, take both bread and wine at communion, have the choir sing while processing, have more than the bare minimum level of ceremony and so on, would feel so nice. Having restrictions lifted the day after Easter does feel just a little bit like a big "up yours" to churches... Another whole year til the next one, but hey, that's how the cookie crumbles.
I don't think the greens have any interest in environmental matters queen
If they get a couple of nice ministerial positions and the opportunity to Stick It To The (non)Man by waving placards about oil and banning drive thru Greggs', they'll be out there smothering sea otters in all the masks.
