Can I rail about the damn clocks changing. I really wish they would leave them alone now.
My sleep is all over the place as usual. 😴

Dinoteeth · 29/03/2022 07:47

I've concluded changing the clocks is fine.
I wouldn't want really dark winter mornings and kids going to school in the pitch black with ice on roads etc. And I appreciate the light summer nights.

An hour is nothing really when you consider going on holiday usually involves a time change that's more than an hour.

GoldenOmber · 29/03/2022 07:55

They’re not going to go “on reflection, looks like the masks aren’t really helping with the case rates after all” no matter what the figures look like.

My bet is they’ll say they are lifting the mask laws but not from next week - maybe week after that, or two weeks after that would make it another 3-week can-kicking-down-road. If anyone does point at ineffectiveness it’ll be “ah but masks have probably helped make this wave shorter/less high than it would have been without.”

Rainbowshit · 29/03/2022 08:06

@WouldBeGood

Let’s hope your cunning plan works *@ResilienceWanker*!

On another note, does anyone know if you can get proof of vaccination for a 13 year old?

Yes, you can use the NHS scotland app to prove vaccination and also recovery status for 12 and up. We travelled to Austria recently and my 12 year old used the app everywhere.

We also asked for printed copies just in case she lost her phone.

One tip for the app is to do the facial recognition part in daylight. It doesn't work well under artificial light.

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2022 08:37

Thanks, @Rainbowshit, that’s a big help. I was struggling to find information on what to do.

Update on masks to come tomorrow I see as NS is in London at the Duke of Edinburgh's memorial.

Justmuddlingalong · 29/03/2022 12:35

🙄 Nae show wi out Punch.

GoldenOmber · 29/03/2022 12:56

She doesn’t seem to be wearing a mask herself down there so maybe that’s A Sign.

UnctuousUnicorns · 29/03/2022 13:24

Just back from another lovely, mask free weekend in Dundee, glorious weather throughout.

My new campaign slogan is "Wear Your Face With Pride". 🙂

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2022 13:32

@GoldenOmber maybe she feels safer in England cos of the lower rates 😃

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2022 13:32

Hmm. So when the SG website says that the current regulations will be reviewed on the 29th March, reflecting what NS said a fortnight ago when she last updated parliament, what it should say is "if NS doesn't get a better invitation"...? I mean, yes, she can and probably should go to PPs memorial, but surely she could get someone else to chair her meeting of cabinet/ announce the findings to Parliament? Make it sound a bit less like she's the only one she can trust to do her job. Unless it's the ferries of course, then it was purely the junior transport minister's fault and absolutely nothing to do with her no siree

mibbelucieachwell · 29/03/2022 14:22

Hmmmm. Today and yesterday's numbers are lower than last weeks. Fingers crossed for another day of lower numbers tomorrow so she can confidently predict we're past the peak and can stop the mask nonsense from April 19th, the day after Easter.

QueenWatevraWaNabi · 29/03/2022 15:12

Of course she could. This highlights my biggest issue with the SNP at the moment: they seem to have forgotten they're a government running a country and increasingly act like they're running a group with their pals. 'Aye, ken I've got that party on Tuesday so I'll just do it on Wednesday - naebody will mind'; 'Aye, crack on Nic and enjoy yourself'

QueenWatevraWaNabi · 29/03/2022 15:15

I am hoping that the Greens might be putting pressure on re: masks and testing though, from an environmental stance.

patritis · 29/03/2022 15:20

Oh please no @mibbelucieachwell
Not another easing of restrictions at end of school holidays Confused

I think they'll ditch the masks. Even the scientists who've been quite vocal about the need for restrictions are looking at Scotland and admitting it's making no difference now!

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2022 15:23

I think she’ll say she’s saved us, figures looking better thanks to her caution, and so it will be a choice, but you should keep wearing them

OP posts:
RaraRachael · 29/03/2022 16:00

That stupid phrase spring to mind, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should"
I'm noticing more and more people not bothering with masks and nobody seems to care Smile

ResilienceWanker · 29/03/2022 16:00

I agree, it definitely looks like cases are falling, unsurprisingly, but what that means for masks is anyone's guess! I agree that it's unlikely to be before Easter if they are dropped ("subject to cases continuing to fall") which gives them another 3 (?) weeks of kicking the can around, and then another u-turn... Hmm I mean, they're obviously not helping, but when has that ever informed restrictions?! From the 18th we won't have universal testing anyway, so no one will know how many cases there are, so everyone can say they were right based purely on anecdote Grin

Personally, I'll be really pissed off if another Easter is fucked around with with masks and requirements for places of worship to follow ridiculous, pointless rules on distancing and sanitising and whatnot. I know it's a relatively small thing, and not something that many people care about, but being able to sing maskless, take both bread and wine at communion, have the choir sing while processing, have more than the bare minimum level of ceremony and so on, would feel so nice. Having restrictions lifted the day after Easter does feel just a little bit like a big "up yours" to churches... Another whole year til the next one, but hey, that's how the cookie crumbles.

I don't think the greens have any interest in environmental matters queen Grin If they get a couple of nice ministerial positions and the opportunity to Stick It To The (non)Man by waving placards about oil and banning drive thru Greggs', they'll be out there smothering sea otters in all the masks.

QueenWatevraWaNabi · 29/03/2022 16:16

Yes, you're probably right 🤣🤣🤣

patritis · 29/03/2022 16:41

Well @ResilienceWanker there's just been a great big church service in London. Think NS may even have been there.
No masks, no social distancing. Shaking hands and singing allowed.
Don't recall seeing one way stickers and arrows all over the floor eitherHmm

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2022 16:46

“We smother sea otters!” Great news slogan for the Greens @ResilienceWanker 🤣

The update will come via a leak to STV at some point tomorrow morning.

As it always does.

Lovely to see Nicola cutting around Westminster Abbey with her husband without her mask, of course. I'm sure the Queen was delighted to see her.

Yes, I saw the photos after making my post... I know jealousy is not a pleasant or uplifting emotion but EnvyEnvyAngry. You'd have thought she'd have wanted to make a point by being caring to the other people there (some of who would be quite vulnerable you know) by wearing her mask to protect others. Or even expressing her solidarity to her countrymen and women who would have had to wear masks in the same situation. But nope...
WouldBeGood · 29/03/2022 18:21

@ResilienceWanker, bring a heathen I hadn’t thought of the consequences for churches, any time never mind over Easter. That’s a pretty big deal.
