No judgment, no resilience wankery.

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo

That annoyed the hell out of me too *@Whattochoosenow*

It's not a rail (so feel free to rail at my possible derailing of railing Grin) but while there's a bunch of Scottish MNetters in one place, does anyone know St Andrews well and got and suggestions of 'things to do' when visiting with surly teens in the spring?

Secret Bunker is good. You can do sand yachting on the beach. Also, the Fife Coastal path with fish and chips in Anstruther.
JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 20/03/2022 15:14

DH has tested positive on LFT. I'm convinced I had it last week although negative LFT. Symptoms different to DH but I was pretty sure I had it, despite the test results. DH in a mood because he has important work events that he worked hard on that he now has to miss. He seriously debated just going to work anyway to ensure his hard work comes to fruit etc but I said you don't want to spread it to someone vulnerable or get into any trouble. So he's stomping about.

Dinoteeth · 20/03/2022 15:19

get into any trouble
How would anyone know and how would they know he passed it on if he keeps his mouth shut.🤔

I know that is selfish but really give it time and it will be treated exactly the same as the flu and the cold, unless people are really ill they'll be going to work with the covid too

WouldBeGood · 20/03/2022 15:20

Oh, that’s tough @JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue. I can see why he’s fed up but I’m with you. It’s all such a bugger.

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 20/03/2022 15:23

I do agree he wouldn’t get into trouble, if no one knows, but it would worry me a bit to infect people.

Could he be a safe distance away from others?

OP posts:
JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 20/03/2022 15:23

He's coughing badly and constantly and that would raise suspicions.

WouldBeGood · 20/03/2022 15:26

That’s a problem @JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue 😃

He should be staying home then imo, covid or not.

Apart from getting sick the rules could mess up other peoples lives/plans. That worries me too.

OP posts:
Dinoteeth · 20/03/2022 15:42

If he's coughing it's a bit naughty to carry on pretending he doesn't know. I'd end up dropping myself in it if I was him especially if someone asked directly - you sure it's not covid!

Any way he could do the presentation remotely?

Yes it could screw up travel plans esp as we are only a couple of weeks to Spring Break

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/03/2022 15:43

That is frustrating @JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue I think while the rules are to isolate, it's best to stay home when you know you have it though, especially if you've got a constant cough. I'm not especially worried about catching covid but I'd be pretty pissed off if someone knowingly brought it into the office and I ended up having to cancel my own plans as a result.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 20/03/2022 15:54

he's going to work remotely but these specific projects are customer facing and can't really be done remotely and yes I did say think of all these people you could be coming into contact with. He knows he needs to stay at home, he's just in a grump about it as someone else is already off for another reason and he feels bad leaving them with less staff but that's the reality of covid isn't it? For now anyway.

WouldBeGood · 20/03/2022 16:13

It is all just bollocks @JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue, two years of this. It’s just all so difficult still

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 20/03/2022 17:39

I kinda see covid as other infectious diseases if you know you have it you stay away from the workplace as is the case for many things already chickenpox, whooping cough, rubella etc which risk others but it shouldn't be treated differently from them

WouldBeGood · 20/03/2022 17:58

Sounds a good way to approach it @Scottishskifun

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 20/03/2022 23:20

😬 that's my DPs testing positive this evening. I knew they would eventually but my DF is very high risk due to a number of health issues despite being under 70 so just keeping everything crossed that the vaccine holds and keeps him out of hospital. They are in England though and their GP will do direct remote appointments for them.

WouldBeGood · 21/03/2022 00:08

Oh that’s a worry @Scottishskifun. Fingers crossed for mild cases

FoxyFoxyLoxy · 21/03/2022 08:22

Second negative LFT today so I'm freeeeeeee!!

(to do all the glamourous stuff like going to Asda)

ResilienceWanker · 21/03/2022 08:23

Oh no, ski Sorry to hear that. Flowers Hope they recover quickly. I'm kind of assuming my DP will get it at some point, though neither have yet, even though they're hardly locking themselves away better social life than me Envy . Neither are in the best of health, so it is a worry, even though my head knows they are statistically likely to be absolutely fine. They both do the ONS survey, so at least they should know in reasonable time if they have!

Hope your DH is feeling better jennifer. It is all so frustrating. You know he should stay at home for the good of others, even if he is feeling ok/just a bit under the weather, but he, and others, suffer from that decision... In 2019 I'm sure he wouldn't have stayed home with just a cough, and no one would have expected him to - but now we know what that cough is caused by, all bets are off! I'm kind of thinking the end of routine testing won't be a bad thing. Then we won't have this kind of decision to make and no one will be able to judge others for not having tested at a certain point, or "blame" anyone for spreading it potentially avoidably...

Are we all celebrating end of all restriction day today?! Not caught up with the news lately

ResilienceWanker · 21/03/2022 08:23

Yay foxy!! Enjoy the high life of ASDA...

WouldBeGood · 21/03/2022 08:36

That’s good news @FoxyFoxyLoxy! What day are you on, if you don’t mind my asking?

OP posts:
FoxyFoxyLoxy · 21/03/2022 08:45

This is day 7 - started symptoms on Tuesday (day 1), then positive LFT on Wednesday. Positive PCR on Thursday.

You are allowed out with a negative test on day 6 and day 7. I don't know if I was negative on Friday/Saturday because I didn't test - didn't see the point. DH has Covid too (caught it from me) and is about 48 - 72 hours behind me in terms of symptoms, he's still not feeling great.

WouldBeGood · 21/03/2022 08:50

Thanks @FoxyFoxyLoxy. Hope your dh feels better soon too. I’ve got it (thanks, DD!) and am feeling very sorry for myself 🤣

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the covid positives - and on such a beautiful sunny week too.

patritus · 21/03/2022 09:03

Oh no @WouldBeGood
You've dodged it all this time too. Hope you're ok and the vaccines are working their magic
Great news you out now @FoxyFoxyLoxy

FoxyFoxyLoxy · 21/03/2022 09:14

@WouldBeGood

Thanks *@FoxyFoxyLoxy*. Hope your dh feels better soon too. I’ve got it (thanks, DD!) and am feeling very sorry for myself 🤣
Lots of rest, lots of fluid. DH swears by Beechams All in One liquid. If you have a garden try to get out in the sunshine too.
WouldBeGood · 21/03/2022 09:24

Thanks guys. I do have a garden luckily, and will need to take dog out (not near anyone).

It really is rife here now! I’ve been out and about all through this, no disease, but DD’s work and DS’ school just riddled.
