I will rail about the waste of paper and money on the reminder leaflet I received tosay about the census.
Iv already filled the damn thing in and with the constant radio adverts I’m sure most people are aware!

LizzieMacQueen · 14/03/2022 17:16

I think they are in a panic that folk won't complete the census, but reminders when you're not to fill it in until Sunday seems over the top.

mapleleavesreturn · 14/03/2022 17:21

Well my puppy counter surfed and accidentally chewed the covid letter, ooops.

FoxyFoxyLoxy · 14/03/2022 17:43

Is that a Scottish government publication, @ResilienceWanker? The use of the word "poorly" is very non-Scottish. No Scottish mum would say her child was "poorly".

How did that slip through the Scottification net?

WouldBeGood · 14/03/2022 18:01

@mapleleavesreturn 🤣🤣

I don’t have my census yet

Yes foxy - full on NHS Scotland/ PHS/ ScotGov with logos and everything. Not sure why that non-scottishism crept in.

Managed to cancel the appointment after 20 mins on the phone and goodness knows how many "press 1 for this" invitations...their automated messages seem to be stuck in December as far as I can tell, telling 30-39 year olds that they can book a booster from the 15th December - which is nice. Managed to speak to someone who was actually fine with cancelling it - but said "sorry - I've just got to read you this thing before I press the cancel button" and it was all "if you cancel you may be deleted from our system and forgotten about and not be able to reschedule" (or some such bollix). Which totally went against what the nice man had just said, that once I had discussed with DS I would call back to arrange a suitable date/ venue if he wanted to go ahead...but, hey...

Grin maple. What a shame. (Was a bit concerned the cat was about to do a furball on our census form earlier, but it was a false alarm. Unfortunately).

I thought we were supposed to do the census on Sunday too. I know you can do it earlier if you think nothing will change, but why on earth are they "reminding" people when they are not supposed to have completed it yet...?!

WouldBeGood · 14/03/2022 19:05

I say poorly and I’m Scottish mind you

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/03/2022 19:18

I say poorly too.

I need to order a paper copy of the census.

mapleleavesreturn · 14/03/2022 19:59

Oooh some good news - passenger locator forms gone from March 18! Just in time for me, so only the outbound form for Spain to do!

RaraRachael · 14/03/2022 20:13

Is she making an announcement tomorrow re lifting of restrictions. Gloom and doom in my workplace today with most thinking that mask-free living won't be happening next week Confused

Haudyourwheesht · 14/03/2022 20:24

Glenn Campbell tweeted that he expects the cabinet to be rethinking removing the legal restrictions tomorrow. He seems to be quite in the know.

WouldBeGood · 14/03/2022 20:59

Oh, ffs. I can feel the anxiety mounting again

They'd better bloody not! I'm so utterly sick of this shit. Hospitalisations are manageable, COVID is now less dangerous than flu, and the restrictions clearly don't control infections anyway so why force them on us??

Hoping it's the usual 'leak and assess response' tactic to see the kind of reception it gets - if the responses to Glenn Campbell's tweet are anything to go by there'll be uproar! Apparently the Times is reporting that things are still on track to be lifted, so lets hope they're right!

Haudyourwheesht · 14/03/2022 21:51

They'll probably lift them everywhere except in Glasgow. ShockShockShockGrinGrinGrin

Back to tiers….

Seeing a lot of under 12s who are quite poorly with covid this time around. A lot are not coming back on day 7 but 10 plus. Still want to take my bloody mask off though! Staff seems to be following the same pattern. Like a cat on a hit tin roof waiting for tomorrow’s announcement.

WouldBeGood · 15/03/2022 08:41

So, today is the day. What will she do?

I’m in a bit of a spin, desperate for the bloody masks to go.

Also now wondering if my Easter holiday will be in jeopardy.

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 15/03/2022 09:11

@wouldbegood are you driving with the crossing in England? If so then you will be fine and Scotland agreed to also scrap passenger locator forms which I hope is a sign they are finally admitting you can't control a highly mutating microscopic virus!

WouldBeGood · 15/03/2022 09:26

Yes, @Scottishskifun but just feels like it’s spiralling again. Remember when we got banned from everywhere as filthy covid rats? I should calm myself and just wait and see, I guess!

OP posts:

My anxiety is peaking again today with worry that the high infection numbers mean they'll backtrack and keep clearly ineffective measures in place because 'reasons'. My mental health has taken such a battering, especially in the last year or so where Scotland has diverged more and more from England, and I've had to watch them gradually get their lives (and confidence) back while we're stuck in COVID purgatory with no clear end in sight. It's not even like it's helping, if anything it seems to be making things worse. I was supportive of Sturgeon at the start because it was a genuine emergency, but I don't think I'll ever forgive her for dragging this out so far beyond the point when she should have just accepted it. I desperately need all the messaging and all the 'signals' like masks to fuck off, and for us to actually put COVID into perspective and start living again. They might even find that that relieves some pressure on things like the health service. If it was possible to actually make a normal GP appointment they might find fewer people rocking up at hospital with more complex needs, and if people weren't doing routine asymptomatic testing you might not have healthy staff isolating because they got a line on a bit of plastic.

Scottishskifun · 15/03/2022 09:36

I know and it's the thought of having a break dashed again. The good news is BA2 variant is rife in Denmark and spreading across Europe too so it's not like just before Christmas and trying to keep a variant out France already has it.

I do feel a lot of Europe at least is coming round to stopping trying to control so much as well.

Scottishskifun · 15/03/2022 10:51

Ranting at the calls to delay mask lifting.....head of NHS Grampian saying it should be delayed to remind everyone there is still a pandemic.....not that they do anything just so we constantly don't forget or get any mental break from this shit show!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 15/03/2022 11:04

Exactly @Scottishskifun this 'signalling' without proven effectiveness bullshit needs to stop!! I tell you what, the constant anxiety and tension of living under these conditions (and not knowing when or if it will ever end) has done more to degrade my health than any virus ever did (and that includes the suspected COVID I had in the first wave). The narrow mindedness of it all is just infuriating!
