The SNP are like wee kids drawing a chalk line across the lovely big playground because the big boys are being mean to them. Setting up their own football goals then crying when they lose their best footballers to the bigger half of the playground.

Yes, and obviously they spent the money for the ball on face paint and flags...

WouldBeGood · 24/01/2022 15:03

I agree with you guys, I want a bit of peace and relaxation, not bitter constitutional divides.

And if it’s all under control, presumably the kids can take their masks off in school 🤷🏻‍♀️

Didn't move here from England, was surprised to be told England was my 'real home' by a pro SNP English person, when I wasn't even seeking political debate.

patritus · 24/01/2022 15:17

Well my Scottish born and bred friend and her equally Scottish husband would have loved to vote in Indyref @MaxNormal
But despite living their whole life and owning a house here they couldn't because they had rented out the house and were living in Middle East for work for 3 years.
They returned to Scotland in 2016.
So under that persons rules all these overseas Scots should be able to vote because they are more Scottish than you🤷🏼‍♀️

MaxNormal · 24/01/2022 15:29

@patritus I didn't even realise that would make someone ineligible, seems a bit harsh as my understanding is that UK citizens abroad generally can vote for up to fifteen years.

I suppose the problem is that there's no actual definition of what constitutes Scottish, unlike British.

patritus · 24/01/2022 15:34

I think that was peculiar to Indyref as it wasn't an election. It's a constitutional question.

And just in case I wasn't clear, I wasn't in any way questioning your credentials to vote @MaxNormal!
I was pointing out the flaw in your acquaintances version of Scottishness Grin

WouldBeGood · 24/01/2022 15:59

I think they may find letting 16 year olds vote will backfire on them after all this nonsense

plenty of time for a U turn and no doubt it would be Boris's fault....
MaxNormal · 24/01/2022 17:05

@patritus lol I was just remembering she has form. We had some big random argument years ago about the West Highland Way, of all things. Which I'd just completed, and she'd never done. But she knew more about it than me because Scottishness.

runningpink · 24/01/2022 17:10

I didn’t really follow all the stuff last time and voted yes but with no real reasons etc

I can categorically say I would be voting no if we get another one. On the basis of how much we have been fucked over these past two years and also in an immature way so that it prevent Nicola not getting what she wants for once.
Im sure I won’t be the only one!

Different topic but do you need to wear a mask in England for a hair cut? Considering travelling just to get one as my hair hadn’t been cut in 1 1/2 years and it’s doing my head in now.

MaxNormal · 24/01/2022 17:19

I wouldn't think so after Thursday? I guess there might be individual salons that try and enforce but it won't be a legal requirement after that I wouldn't think?

ChristmasPlanning · 24/01/2022 17:45

@WouldBeGood

Aargh! It’s a Swinney rail!

Apparently he’s told the radio this morning that as the Covid situation has improved it’s time to get on with…. Independence planning! FFS

He needs to "do one". Can we focus on fixing the country please!? Wasting resources on another "once in a lifetime" vote is unacceptable
Lockdownbear · 24/01/2022 18:09

@runningpink, not sure about England but probably not.
However I'd bet if you ask on a local FB page you'll find someone who'll do it.

patritus · 24/01/2022 18:14

@runningpink DH was at barbers today, he's has always had to wear a mask. Today they asked him if he wanted to take it off to have hair cut.
They told him they're quite relaxed about it now.
I reckon if you leave it another week a lot more places will be like that

patritus · 24/01/2022 18:16

Sorry should say that was in West Lothian, not England!

runningpink · 24/01/2022 19:25

Thanks folks. I will keep an eye on things over the next month and make a decision.

I want to go somewhere specific as they are trained for my type of hair so willing to hold off a little longer.

My mum said this evening that masks were going by end of Feb in Scotland but that was first I had heard of that. Anyone else?

I really need to go to IKEA tomorrow (it can’t wait) but not sure I have the guts to go maskless even with my lanyard. But there is no way I can make it round with one. I need a few specific things so would be in and out as quickly as possible.

How are folks finding the reaction to maskless at the moment? Iv only used my lanyard for work situations where I need to do certain things rather than for my own pleasure so to speak

MaxNormal · 24/01/2022 19:32

@runningpink seriously don't worry about it. Just pop on your lanyard and go for it. No-one will bat an eyelid. Ticket inspector on the train doesn't even blink at me. Half the people in the coffee shop is in the other day didn't bother to have them on to order and no-one was scanning to check in either.

WouldBeGood · 24/01/2022 19:39

I’ve had no bother at all with lanyard.

Get my hair cut with no mask or lanyard.

Was at consultant appointment today and he was fine with me taking mask off as he thinks they’re stupid too.

@Runningpink phone / message your normal hair dresser see what they say. Some hairdressers find it hard to do hair with people's masks on anyway.

runningpink · 24/01/2022 20:04

Thank you! I will report back tomorrow on what I decide/manage to do.

Unfortunately I stopped going to my previous hairdresser after an awful hair cut so that’s not an option.
I will give things a few more weeks and then work out a plan

runningpink · 25/01/2022 09:58

Ok I’m putting my big girl pants on and going to go in maskless. Wish me luck!

Going with theory it should Be quiet at this time and I can just put my head down and zoom round 🤞🏻

Scottishskifun · 25/01/2022 10:02

Good luck @runningpink if it makes you feel better I haven't had issues in big shops or cities just my local area and smaller local shops!

WouldBeGood · 25/01/2022 10:21

Good luck @runningpink!

runningpink · 25/01/2022 10:50

Done it! So glad I didn’t even attempt a mask as it was so hot I wouldn’t have managed at all.

Kinda felt invigorating in a strange way!

Lockdownbear · 25/01/2022 10:52

@Scottishskifun I was thinking about what you were saying about people giving you a wide berth when you are maskless.
That ties to the observations that masks give people a false sense of security.
So actually you are probably safer without them than with them.
