DP currently on day 4. Very mild symptoms. The wee "poor me" voice is really getting on my tits. My temper is gently simmering. If he doesn't piss off to bed soon, I will. 😠

WouldBeGood · 17/02/2022 11:58

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry @Lockdownbear!

@Justmuddlingalong aargh! The special sick voice! I’d go and hibernate if I were you

3 out of 4 of us now have it. It's going to be a loooooong week.

RaraRachael · 17/02/2022 17:26

We seem to be on a rolling programme of staff members testing positive so as one returns another one goes off. It's been like this since we went back after Christmas and I'm so bloody fed up of not being able to do my own job. If I hear, "We just can't get supply......" once more I think I'll hit somebody.

mapleleavesreturn · 17/02/2022 20:54

Sympathies to those isolating! The covid isolations are miserable!

Iwantthesummersun · 17/02/2022 22:13

Rolling sickness for us too Rara and quite a few who have been pretty ill still after 10 days. The knock on is huge. Support for learning covering classes so no sfl for anyone. LAs isolating- have had an la for one day since Xmas. All impact massively on the children who need to most support.

In other news, does anyone have snow yet? Waiting here a bit impatiently to see if we get the forecast snow. Need to be somewhere by 8.30 am on Saturday and unsure if we will need to leave super early!!

Justmuddlingalong · 18/02/2022 08:33

Have donned the dressing gown of doom myself today. Positive LFT this morning so DP better quit the woe is me act or I swear...

WouldBeGood · 18/02/2022 08:57

Get yourself a good lawyer @Justmuddlingalong - definitely provocation!

💐to all sick and isolating railers.

No snow here in the NE, just pishing rain.

Scottishskifun · 20/02/2022 02:57

I'm railing at the news that soon England will be trusted to do what they like with all measures gone. I found it interesting a part of a BBC article which estimates that up to 50% either don't know or don't test so already not isolating.

Meanwhile here I await a doom and gloom statement on Tues where I am in no doubt SG will keep masks, isolation, track and trace and all other aspects they can hold tightly onto under "protections for our own good....."

runningpink · 20/02/2022 07:16

I assume there is nothing Boris can do to overrule Nicola?

In the last week I’ve had a few people declare it’s too early to lift stuff, we need masks etc
But we don’t have these restrictions for any other illness so why covid two years down the line.
I completely understand that some people are higher risk but we can’t hide away forever

If people are worried they can choose to wear a mask, not go places etc but at this point we should be able to make our own decisions

It’s so depressing

RaraRachael · 20/02/2022 08:06

I was almost in tears yesterday. Colx Dahl so every time I put on a mask, my very thick glasses steamed up. Take them off to clean them and I can't see a bloody thing. Repeat several times in several shops.

As PP says, it's time we were allowed to decide for ourselves but of course we can't because that would involve the SG relinquishing some of their control.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/02/2022 08:06

I'm holding out hope that if England gets back to normal, than Nicola will have no choice but to follow suit a few weeks later. Especially if they wind up the free testing - that's a UK wide scheme isn't it? She won't want to spend any of her Indy war chest on continuing covid measures if there's no extra money from the UK government.

RaraRachael · 20/02/2022 08:08

Sorry. Typing in my bed - cold day Blush

Lockdownbear · 20/02/2022 09:04

BJ can't over rule her but he can withdraw £500 isolation money, and the money for the free tests.

It is interesting that of 50% of people are testing. And isolating anyway.

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 20/02/2022 09:11

Will we get a 4th jag soon?

WouldBeGood · 20/02/2022 09:47

I’m not sure people will take a fourth jag?

I really hope she’s pressed on why our cases are worse than England given the ongoing restrictions

@heelforheelandtoefortoe

Will we get a 4th jag soon?
The Independent reporting today that jcvi set to approve another booster jag for immunocompromised people. I imagine the rest of us it might be the autumn but we still don't know how long the booster lasts
TheUsualShitshow · 20/02/2022 10:08

I'm wondering about the next jab too. My booster was at the start of December and has surely worn off already.

I think it's really counter-intuitive for some people though. See a lot of people saying 'I've got/had Covid and it wasn't bad so that's me done with boosters' as if the fact of the booster has nothing to do with them not faring too badly. I don't get it Confused

WouldBeGood · 20/02/2022 10:18

I’m not getting any more unless all restrictions are lifted. I got mine in good faith as was assured it was the way out and this has been bollocks.

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 20/02/2022 10:36

I think the boosters could become annual events. Covid seems to settle in summer so makes sense to do booster and flu in autumn.

runningpink · 20/02/2022 10:45

Exactly @WouldBeGood I got the jags on the basis I would be released and that hasn’t happened.

Here’s hoping Boris stops the free tests and isolation money.

I’m not testing. I won’t get paid if I’m off and I can’t afford that.

I genuinely think people are brainwashed and believe Nic is saving us and making us safe etc

Sorry you had such a rough day yesterday @RaraRachael

Lockdownbear · 20/02/2022 10:52

People are definitely brainwashed about masks. But I've noticed myself becoming a rebel, walking out of restaurants etc without one. Starting slowly 🐌

TheUsualShitshow · 20/02/2022 11:12

@WouldBeGood

What's one got to do with the other though?

The booster is potentially the thing that'll keep you out of hospital; other restrictions have nothing to do with boosters. It's not like you're holding them to ransom or proving some point by not protecting your own health.

Scottishskifun · 20/02/2022 11:17

I'm happy to get another booster but also aware I'm one of the hybrids of protection via antibodies before vaccination so unclear if it would be a booster giving me protection or the combo of both.

Yes I don't understand the love of masks the number of people who have told me it's a basic protection for them......when I point out its not (with studies btw not just my personal opinion) and that was never the aim of them (they are in cloth mostly) Jesus you would think I told them their Grandmother was lady of the night they go mental on the defensive!

No way is NS dropping them will wait to read the lecture for protection of my own property (shoe liable to be lobbed at TV screen if I have to watch her one more time!)
