Yes I was pleased that help for heating is on the same basis as in England. But even at that, they're saying that's 73% of the population. Does anyone know the equivalent % in England?

From BBC

It means some 1.85 million households - 73% of the total - will receive £150 of support when those elements are combined.

Haudyourwheesht · 10/02/2022 20:01

Bloody EIS: 'our numbers are in favour is masks remaining'. What members? I certainly am not, and neither are any of my colleagues. They've never actually asked us.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 10/02/2022 20:03

@Haudyourwheesht there are not enough bad words in the world for Mr Flanagan.

None of my teacher relatives want them in class anymore at all. Even ones who support the SNP just think it's silly given everything else is allowed.

Nope never been asked. I'm in primary so kids never had to wear masks in class but some of our teachers have done. We're still sitting 1m apart at all times and having to wear masks in corridors AND when taking in and dismissing classes which is absolutely ridiculous.
WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/02/2022 21:41

I can't bear Flanagan. And I don't even work in education. It pisses me off that most of the political parties say 'the EIS say...' when you contact them about the harms to children and education throughout covid. I actually don't give a flying fuck what Flanagan says. Especially when all my teacher pals and relatives don't agree with him either.

That's my rail for the day...

WouldBeGood · 10/02/2022 22:07

Flanagan and the unions give teachers a wholly undeserved bad name

Wow, Wales is dropping vaccine passports and some of their mask rules, and saying they might drop all mask rules by the end of March. Maybe hope for us up here after all?

Completely agree.
WouldBeGood · 11/02/2022 07:45

Oh my god, @GoldenOmber! Surely she’ll be shamed into this now?!

Yes!!! I wonder if Sturgeon was given advance notice of this and this forced her hand on masks in schools (which did seem a bit of a U-turn). It's one thing to diverge from Westminster, she spends most of her political life trying to do that, but if Wales drops them too Scotland becomes the outlier repressing it's people and that's not a good look in anyone's book.
heelforheelandtoefortoe · 11/02/2022 11:44

on a more lighthearted note, every time I get emails from work warning me about phishing attempts, I think of getting pished. Am I alone?

WouldBeGood · 11/02/2022 12:28

@heelforheelandtoefortoe 🤣🤣

Oh god I really hope wales drop them. Then hopefully she will be forced to do so as well

My rail for this morning is the damn wind. I’m shattered.
New windows would help a bit but I can’t afford them at the moment

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/02/2022 08:35

I'll join you on that rail @runningpink - a bit of a lie in was planned here and I've been awake for hours thanks to the wind!

Cismyfatarse · 12/02/2022 09:14

Fuckety Fuck. Half term. Supposed to be going to Portugal tomorrow for a few nights. Have bloody Covid. Caught from DD who caught it at a Burns night.

Feeling very cross and sorry for myself.

WouldBeGood · 12/02/2022 09:33

Oh no @Cismyfatarse! That’s terrible luck. 💐

The wind is nuts too.

Plus, did the right thing and reported. They sent 5 identical texts and 4 identical E-mails all one after the other, like a pulse of being told off. Bloody Rabbie Burns and his drunken student dinner where DD got coughed on.

MiL can't really understand why we can't visit her and kept inviting DH in for tea yesterday. He was not positive (still isn't but...). She is 88 and quite independent but we do most things for her in the house, shopping.

Agh!!

titsintiers · 12/02/2022 10:19

That's rotten luck @Cismyfatarse sorry you're missing your break

Sandinyourshoes · 12/02/2022 10:41

Was woken early with leg cramp, is it due to the mocha I had yesterday? I always blame the choccy whenever I get cramp. Then I forget and eat more choccy, rinse and repeat.

On another note - latest wheeze is women only train carriages. Can’t see any problems with that, no not at all… Hmm

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/02/2022 11:18

Didn't Corbyn suggest women only carriages and get completely ridiculed for it?

Lockdownbear · 12/02/2022 14:01

I don't remember him suggesting it, however Corbyn successfully made Labour unelectable - could SNP be following the example.

Make yourself completely unelectable and let someone else deal with the mess the country is in.

mapleleavesreturn · 12/02/2022 14:37

@Cismyfatarse oh no! Hope you don't feel too rough.

Cismyfatarse · 12/02/2022 14:45

Not too bad.

runningpink · 12/02/2022 14:48

Oh no @Cismyfatarse will you be able to rebook soon or have you lost the flights etc?

Cismyfatarse · 12/02/2022 15:36

We have managed to move them to the summer. Teacher so lots of options, thankfully.

Thanks for all the sympathy. I am really not too bad. But it is Day 1 in the Covid house so apologies in advance if I have a few rails as the week goes on.
