Someone must have taken note of last Fridays rant - no mention of covid on the road signs - Yellow Weather warnings instead.

runningpink · 28/01/2022 20:51

Bet they are back once this storm has passed!

Maybe we need someone to hack the system and make it say ‘ditch the masks’ or something

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2022 21:31

@runningpink yes!! Anyone techie..???

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/01/2022 00:03

I went wild and got on the bus home after a night out with no mask. I dutifully wore a mask earlier in the evening on the way out, but as usual I ended up with a streaming nose and feeling like I couldn't breathe!

Calmdown14 · 29/01/2022 11:13

Yet another cock up in the 'must be different' agenda www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-60175599

There are so many ways in which positive differences could be made but it feels very much like we need to know certain things are delivered by the Scottish government, even if they previously worked fine

mapleleavesreturn · 29/01/2022 11:21

Another poorly implemented policy achieving the opposite of what it intends? Surely not!

And that's dd still testing positive on day 6 so no early release from incarceration for her...

mibbelucieachwell · 29/01/2022 13:23

"Unlawful and irrational". That'll be incompetent then.

Didn't do a properly inclusive consultation.

It seemed to be working for larger nurseries. Not working for sole practitioners, rural providers and smaller preschool establishments.

Independence supporters take note.

Fingers crossed for a negative test tomorrow for your DD @mapleleavesreturn

ElephantOfRisk · 29/01/2022 13:43

Anyone seen this on twitter? there is a link to the story in the times but I can only read the first bit of it.

Thought police in action:

twitter.com/DalgetySusan/status/1487304450947624964

For anyone who doesn't want to click a link. Basically tweets were made with no crime committed but the police would like to know the thoughts behind them. It's in relation to a charity no longer recommending the Edinburgh Rape crisis centre.

Scianel · 29/01/2022 13:45

Yes I saw that today. Horrifying. Between having to watch what you say on twitter in case the police come to your door, and the SG hanging onto the covid emergency powers, it's starting to feel a bit uncomfortable here.

ElephantOfRisk · 29/01/2022 13:48

It is. I don't think the thought police is purely just in Scotland but obviously this incident and the reasoning behind it is, also given how contentious the ERCC is nowadays.

Dh and i were discussing what our response to the police at the door would be and it consisted of two words.

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 29/01/2022 14:57

Fuck sake.

I had a fairly surreal conversation with DH about what we would do if I am ever arrested, for stickering or comments I make online.

Even 2/3 years ago I'd never have thought that would be a sentence I'd type.

Scianel · 29/01/2022 15:53

That's really not right, is it? We should not be having these conversations in a democracy.

And even if whatever they arrest you for would clearly be laughed out of court, the process itself is the punishment. For someone completely unused to dealing with police and the legal system at the wrong end, the stress will be immense and they can deliberately drag it out for months. Plus the cost of legal representation.

Scottishskifun · 29/01/2022 15:53

I find it deeply worrying that confirming a women only space especially for a charity about miscarriage loss caused by domestic violence is being reported in the first place!

My mum used to work in a women's homeless hostel for young vulnerable women (16 - 25) and I really do wonder what will happen to the likes of these spaces with all this push?! The women my mum worked with were extremely vulnerable and the vast majority had either been abused/pimped or both. Will places like this be reported and investigated for maintaining women only spaces?????

ElephantOfRisk · 29/01/2022 16:11

Will they be allowed to maintain women only spaces or will they have to "be kind" and include men who say they are women?

I'm sick of everything being pushed by extreme groups. I'm sure the vast majority of "normal" trans people just want peace to live their lives.

I posted this on the other thread but it's quite a video:

Scianel · 29/01/2022 16:11

And reported by the CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crises no less, if I'm not mistaken.

It's hugely worrying, these are some of the most vulnerable people in society after small children and they will be at the sharp end of these policies in a way many other women never will be and probably can't imagine, ditto female prisoners.

Tomorrowisanewday · 29/01/2022 16:56

A summary judgement has been issued in favour of HCC, an insurance company who were in dispute with Ferguson Marine, which SG took over. Another bill of £5million, and still no ferries........

Scianel · 29/01/2022 17:41

My god that clip. One sane adult and a bunch of absolute flakes, and these are the people currently dictating policy.
I must say I'm finding the 2020s quite a trying time period to live though for various obvious reasons.

mapleleavesreturn · 29/01/2022 19:06

Agree scianel I cannot get my head around the protection of women only spaces being such an extreme position in the 2020s, strange times.

Haudyourwheesht · 29/01/2022 21:17

They just don't seem to understand that women will still feel threatened by a male, even if he's wearing a dress and lippie, and calling himself Joanne. To all intents and purposes he's still a man, and some women have had pretty much EVERY man they have known abuse them.

bit.ly/ScotWellbeingSurvey

Might be worth filing this out for a good rant. Doubt it will make a difference but think I will fill it in

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/01/2022 09:02

Thanks runningpink. A most enjoyable rant. Particularly at being asked for my gender identity but not my sex! Wondering if the police my visit to ascertain my thinking...

runningpink · 30/01/2022 09:17

I haven’t done it yet as I pressed the wrong button and lost all I had already ranted about!

Will do when I get home later as about to head out a walk

mibbelucieachwell · 30/01/2022 14:39

Thank you for the survey link.

I said I would feel safer and more supported if I felt the government actually listened to individual responses to consultations.

mapleleavesreturn · 30/01/2022 17:01

Broken and not fit for purpose - more good news:

Iv booked myself a hair appointment in England!
Iv never been so excited to go to the hairdressers.

It’s not for a few months so keeping everything crossed masks won’t be involved so I can go 🤞🏻
