Really hoping that restrictions are eased today - not because I want to go to a mass event especially, but more for psychological reasons, to be moving in the right direction. And also because they are clearly pointless and doing nothing to stop spread (peaks have risen and fallen regardless, again) and that just really irritates me! I wonder if she will try to tell us all that the restrictions are the reason why she can now do this and wasn't she a wonderful leader ?

I am genuinely glad to see the BBC starting to question the narrative a bit more though and actually talking to epidemiologists with a different view to the one we have been told is 'the science' for a year and a half. Even yesterday when JL was quoted as saying restrictions were working, this was immediately followed by figures showing lower infection rates in England and a note that there were fewer restrictions there (in case you could have missed that). This quote from Mark Woolhouse is very telling take that Devi and the zero COVID gang!

"Mark Woolhouse, professor of infectious disease epidemiology at the University of Edinburgh, says the virus is here to stay - and it took many governments far too long to realise it couldn't be eliminated.
"This was obvious [to epidemiologists] from February 2020. We knew way back then this virus was going to become endemic," he told BBC Scotland.
"We went into the first lockdown in March 2020 with most of us under the illusion that if we just toughed it out for a few weeks that the virus would somehow go away.
"There was never any prospect of that. We were always going to have to be living with the virus for the foreseeable future.""

I to am glad BBC are starting to really question stuff. We can't live with restrictions indefinitely, children and young people cannot miss more time than they already have.

Time waits for nobody.

Are there no other changes?

And once again she doesn’t wear a bloody mask while doing her job, but everyone else supposed to.

@WouldBeGood

And once again she doesn’t wear a bloody mask while doing her job, but everyone else supposed to.
I know, I now need to wear one all day at work and it's suffocating, my glasses steam up, I get spots and it makes it so hard to communicate with the people I'm meant to be helping.
Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 11/01/2022 15:34

I have the same issues with masks @shouldistop, after a few minutes I can feel I'm breathing in dank air and I can't believe that's good for me for long periods of time. I'm starting to wonder if I might be inhaling microfibres or something too as I'm getting more issues with gunky or sore throats than I used to.

I might give her permission to have is zip in it - unzip only so she can eat.

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us

I have the same issues with masks *@shouldistop*, after a few minutes I can feel I'm breathing in dank air and I can't believe that's good for me for long periods of time. I'm starting to wonder if I might be inhaling microfibres or something too as I'm getting more issues with gunky or sore throats than I used to.
It won't surprise me if it eventually comes out that masks are unhealthy and should never have been forced on to kids for day to day use. Seriously where is the research that says they are harmless to long term health?
shouldistop · 11/01/2022 15:43

I get a headache after a few hours of wearing one. It's horrible. I go to the bathroom more often just so I can take it off in the cubicle

shouldistop · 11/01/2022 15:44

Ooohhh ahhhh @Lockdownbear Grin

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 15:51

Oh dear someone's taken offence at my mask rant!

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 11/01/2022 15:52

Deletion on the railing thread 😂 @Lockdownbear I only went on the school run!

I'm actually a bit more positive today. She's not getting what she wants much longer. Socials tell you that much. I think masks might stay in government/council owned places but be guidance. I was at the pub at the weekend and was allowed to go to the bar. Forgot that you shouldn't till I seen it today.

WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 15:53

I’m amusing myself guessing what you said @Lockdownbear.

It seems we are being watched…

Same @WouldBeGood.

I for one am now of the opinion this whole country is just full of corrupt arseholes. Labour, tories, greens and the SNP. Oh and throw the monarchy in there as well.

Absolute shower of cunts the lot of them

Interesting bit of reading 📚

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 16:28

Not quite what I was looking for but there probably isn't any research on long-term mask use.

Even surgeons wouldn't have then on day after day they'd only have then on in theater not while planning operations in talking with patients.

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 16:39

www.ecotextile.com/2021040127603/dyes-chemicals-news/exclusive-chemical-cocktail-found-in-face-masks.html

I also found one similar from the South China Post not sure I'd trust it.

My concern about face coverings has just gone off the scale. I was concerned on a comfort level, on a communication level, on skin issues, but now Sad please god no!

OldaRailer · 11/01/2022 16:46

Oh that's bad news.
Our kids have worn them so much.
Quick someone on Twitter point this out to Professor Sridhar.

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 16:50

It's horrendous news, especially since the German research is from last spring, the Chinese was the same.
They've known about risks for a year and kept quite, this could easily be the next asbestos or tobacco. WTF!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 11/01/2022 16:57

I tend to wear organic cotton ones anyway, but have occasionally nabbed some medical grade ones from DH. I did notice a weird smell/taste but kind of assumed it was just the kind of paper. Won't be doing that again! At least I only wore them throughout one day, although it was folded in my pocket when not in use. DH tends to keep his for days at a time so I hate to think what he's breathing in!

What gets me actually, is how little thought has been given to even the possibility that this could happen. It's just assumed that they are perfectly safe without any proper research on actual use patterns being done!

OldaRailer · 11/01/2022 17:10

Dozy public health. Why am I not surprised.

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 17:16

Yip it's the assumption, that they are safe and only cause a wee bit discomfort, not they could potentially cause long term issues.

Why haven't any papers picked up on this?

I've often thought they probably aren't the most hygiene things anyway, even for older kids stuffing them in pockets.
But I had someone argue they were fine for primary aged kids and 4/5 year olds cope in other countries. Wouldn't say which other countries put 4/5 year olds on school buses and expect them to manage masks without dropping them etc.
I'm reeling now really reeling.

shouldistop · 11/01/2022 17:18

God, the annoying thing is that the blue medical ones steam up my glasses the least.
