When I was a chemo patient in hospital the nurses and doctors didn't wear masks. The mask thing is ridiculous. Wear a mask to protect other people blah blah. Eh no. Because I don't have covid and even if I did I wouldn't be jumping on people in shops sneezing on them. I don't cough in people's faces either. Once in hospital one of the night nurses came in with a hoarse voice. She was swiftly sent home by the senior nurse - I eavesdropped- to prevent infecting patients, even though she said she felt fine. The senior nurse didn't tell her to wear a mask for infection control.
The poor wee senior nurse then spent ages desperately phoning for cover. Meanwhile patients were buzzing and buzzing while the chemo drips were bleeping and bleeping. No camera crews came in to report on the imminent collapse of this ward in the cancer hospital. There were no adverts telling the public to stay home to protect vulnerable cancer patients. This was 10 years ago.

This winter the incidence of flu is very low apparently. Flu and winter vomiting bugs are cited as the main pressure on hospitals in the winter so JL, Humza the useless and wee Nikki can eff off with their protecting the NHS guff as far as I'm concerned.

The two medics I know well think the SG restrictions are disproportionate to the public health threat from covid. But then one of them is a GP and the other is a consultant, so what would they know compared with a dentist who did a 9 month course in public health in the states?

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 00:18

@mibbelucieachwell.
What was that nurse thinking taking a cold into a cancer ward but I totally get why she was sent on her way.
I'm no genius but it's common sense not to take viruses or bugs into a hospital.

The NHS has been working at capacity for a heck of a long time, with very little slack in the system. The population has grown but the capacity of the NHS has reduced.

It was the same last winter very little colds and flu about, anyone else read reports that cold immunity may help people fight covid.

ElephantOfRisk · 11/01/2022 07:44

They said about the time of the first lockdown that having a cold seemed to stop you catching covid so I'm not sure why it's now being reported as if its fresh news?

WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 07:58

I think there’s a move afoot to change the narrative?

So they’re reporting stuff people have been saying for ages on here as if it’s news. 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
MaxNormal · 11/01/2022 08:17

Stuff that was dismissed as conspiracy theories at that.

WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 08:25

Yes, and you were screeched at as a selfish granny murderer for suggesting these things.

These buses - maybe I'm a cynic but could the ulterior motive be to get a national ID scheme in via the bank door. What else will they link to the bus passes? Hmm

Definitely a move to change people's ideas about covid and the idea it can be controlled.

England are gearing up for much reduced testing and binning masks (again) which in turn means less money for Scotland to keep testing. So we need to move at the same pace as them.

I can't believe how much time was wasted on zero covid flag waving nonsense. Time people won't ever get back

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 10:18

"National Entitlement Card" makes me cringe

Ladylunchalot · 11/01/2022 10:31

Railing at the fact my lateral flows are positive since yesterday afternoon and I dropped ds and his friend off at school yesterday for their residential trip (Mon to fri). Have had to phone the school to let them know. Ds will not be happy if he has to come home early, took long enough to persuade him to go.
And I feel like crap.

Scottishskifun · 11/01/2022 10:32

There is a really good article in the BBC this morning with info from professors in epidemiology about it becoming endemic and actually its important to have exposure to keep people's response mild and that social restrictions won't help long term.......no doubt it won't fit SG narrative but its good to see the scientists publicly coming out with the info and challenging the status quo of "protecting the public"

@Lockdownbear the zero covid that also wasn’t zero covid 🙄🙄

But that was surely the big bad infectious English coming on holiday and Scots going to big bad infection land......😂 I mean we were told it was in the summer 2020.....which SG got told off for misleading figures again

WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 10:57

Aaargh. Topped that she will allow outdoor mass spectator events at the briefing today. Once again after people’s holidays spoiled.

I am cross today

I'm not surprised @wouldbegood!

I think she will too because the rugby is on in a few weeks which is worth millions to Edinburgh economy especially for a big first game of Scotland vs England which is always sell out! They have been clear they have made provisions to play in England with spectators rather then behind closed doors/with 500 fans

WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 11:20

Yes, and I’m railing about that too, as it’s the same day as the rescheduled horse racing from Christmas and so the hotels are extortionate, and DP too mean to pay 😡

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 11:27

I mean to mean for is to go, not for him to pay for me

@wouldbegood try the Dalmahoy it's just outside and we have managed to get reasonable rates in the past on rugby weekends due to being that little bit out the taxi fare I to Edinburgh isn't too bad.

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 11:30

I thought they might plan for the game to be played in England. Brilliant that they actually made it clear. Can you think what that would do to the nationalist agenda. Scotland home game played in England....
IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 11/01/2022 11:46

I'm coming on to correct my rail about Uni. Had 2 teams meeting so far and both lecturers are putting on in person labs next week. Both said similar, jabs have been offered, testing is available. You won't be penalised if you don't come in. Other classes don't start till next week and both research subjects so will be fine at home.

Railing however about masks continuing for years? Fuck off.

Still haven't changed my name either. Direct rail at myself

Lockdownbear · 11/01/2022 11:50

Railing however about masks continuing for years? Fuck off. I'll second that fuck fuck off. Pointless garments and disposable are a environmental disaster.

Still haven't changed my name either. Direct rail at myself 🐻 needs a change too!

Scottishskifun · 11/01/2022 12:34

@lockdownbear yep exactly! Scottish rugby said they would prefer to play in Scotland but if it was no spectators vs moving it to England and spectators then they would.

Welsh rugby are examining the same thing so if Sturgeon changes then Drakeford will be under huge pressure to do the same!
He's actually getting a bit aggro/defensive as well over his defence of Welsh restrictions which are doing nothing given their case rate is well above England's! (Friends live in Wales so tend to be pretty up to date as we both separately rant 😂)

OnceUponAWhine · 11/01/2022 12:34

Meh, just a rail that they’re handing out sweeties because of the May elections. It always comes down to that. This time last year we were still locked up, released in time for the elections with sweeties and high praise for queen mammy for ‘keeping us safe’.
Today will be a moan about Boris, blaming Westminster (yes, yes, of course that’s justified today of all days) whilst simultaneously declaring mask wearing ad infinitum. Inde ref chat again yesterday too read the fucking room as predicted, for the campaign launches in Spring.
I see right through it all. I wish I was just a naive moron who can’t see the games at play, as life would be easier. Sigh.

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 11/01/2022 12:37

railing at NS changing the rules for political reasons - football, rugby and the money they generate (similar to COP event) and pretending the rule changes are really all to do with us all being good boys and girls and NS being such a nice and caring leader.
