Ok, thanks. That helps. I was reporting all (negative) LFTs the first time I got a box for home use and they didn't seem to link with me at all but that was a while ago, I've never yet been unlucky enough to register a positive one and I have to admit I got fed up of the extra faff and stopped recording negative ones.

I suppose I could always fake symptoms to get a PCR.

ecceromani · 05/01/2022 18:26

In your situation that's probably what I would do @ColdNovemberRain

mapleleavesreturn · 05/01/2022 18:30

I've ordered LFTs and not registered the neg results - surely they assume no reg = negative?

Glad to see some sense returning today!

rookiemere · 05/01/2022 18:54

@mapleleavesreturn we are indeed meant to log all negative LFTs. I did for the first fee but it was a bit of a faff and haven't bothered with recent ones.

mapleleavesreturn · 05/01/2022 19:01

ooops! I didn't get any emails following up about this :) I doubt they do anything at all with that data

WouldBeGood · 05/01/2022 19:20

I’ll be so glad when all this pish is relegated to the rubbish bin of history

"measures which have been taken in Scotland are protecting the population from Covid-19" update. Erm.....nope! England currently has the lowest COVID rate per capita in the UK according to Travelling Tabby despite not having the 'protection' of shutting down football matches, indoor amateur sport, and other mass events, or severely hampering businesses. At some point the various administrations will have to accept that this stuff just doesn't make much difference, right?

I have been isolating since 22nd December - got my positive result 12 DAYS after DH.

Thought after the announcement today I would get out early but my work insists that the new rules only apply to new cases from midnight tonight and existing cases must complete their full isolation - surely not?! Can anyone confirm?

Ain't that the truth!

Am I being a tad cynical in thinking that her relaxation of isolation rules just happens to coincide with most schools being back? However it's too late for lots who had to spend most of their holidays in isolation. Yet another holiday wrecked like the "2 week circuit breaker" that just happened to coincide with school holidays. I know lots of people are under stress at work, but school staff can't take time off any other time.

Dreading the shitshow that will be our school on Monday

He's right, I'm afraid. The new rules only apply to those who test positive after midnight tonight.
WouldBeGood · 05/01/2022 20:31

As we’ve been saying on here for months now @Y0uCann0tBeSer10us - this stuff doesn’t bloody well work!

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 05/01/2022 20:32

It’s actually been a punishment for testing over the holidays.

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 05/01/2022 20:33

@RaraRachael it’s shite. I hope things settle down before your retirement. You should be able to look forward to that, not worry

Going by twitter and Scottish govt page it says new cases from midnight.......

But I would keep an eye on Scottish govt/media as I think this is highly subject to challenge and most people will have missed the only new cases part of it!

RaraRachael · 05/01/2022 20:42

WouldBeGood my worry is that my last year will be the worst one of my career. I've a colleague who's 62 but isn't retiring as she doesn't see the point when there's nothing to do and nowhere to go. I can see her point but I can't put in another year of being told at 8.45 that I'm doing something completely different. It's been soul-destroying.

WouldBeGood · 05/01/2022 20:47

It’s such a shame @RaraRachael

I don’t work many days and keep myself relatively sane (!) by having a routine of things to do, like the gym, dog walks in new places, etc. it’s not exciting but better than feeling at a loose end.

DP is not good at doing stuff like that, so is worried about retiring. I’m sure you’ll be fine!

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 05/01/2022 20:51

Definitely no point in taking early retirement to sit about the house.

I've never registered negative LFTs. What's the point I can see the point in registering positive..

But really they need to start deciding on restrictions purely on hospitals. What does it really matter if thousands of folk have it if they aren't actually ill?

whispers who will know? If you haven’t been ill and just isolating, what’s the flipping difference between a rule from midnight tonight and one last week🤷‍♀️…although presumably you’re unable to go back to work- if you’re feeling well- until officially finished under old ‘rules’.

Remember 2019 when we would go to work when feeling well and also go to work when not feeling well and probably only not go to work if we were really, really not well? It’s so complicated these days…

Oh jeez I know! And people seem incapable of working this out for themselves now.
I got involved in an argument over on the coronavirus boards couple months back when there was all the problems with that lab in England giving people the incorrect PCR results.

There was a poster who worked in a school going on about being made to go to work as she'd been given a negative result even although she was so very illConfused
Wonder what she did in 2019🤷🏼‍♀️

MaxNormal · 05/01/2022 21:29

I think the world is acknowledging there was an overreaction to omicron

Not the whole world unfortunately - have you seen what they're doing in Italy now, plus Macron's latest outburst?!

Scottishskifun · 05/01/2022 21:36

I don't understand trying to force people who don't have a medical exemption to be vaccinated surely it just makes people dig their heels in further?!

I understand from a health pressure perspective with unvaccinated being at risk of being sicker and needing longer treatment time on average but forcing people isn't going to get rid of this.

From being very sick myself I would advocate any reduction in that risk if possible but if people don't want it then I kind of think we'll you have made your bed.....(medical reasons completely outwith this!!)

WouldBeGood · 05/01/2022 21:42

I just saw all that @MaxNormal - they’ve gone mental!

OP posts:
MaxNormal · 05/01/2022 21:45

@WouldBeGood I honestly don't know if I'm coming or going any more, there's some movement towards sanity and then there's that happening. It's all so confusing now.
Right now I'm quite grateful to be in the cold grey rainy UK.

WouldBeGood · 05/01/2022 22:06

Yeah, @MaxNormal, could be worse!

Covid has become very political, France have an election in April / Springtime.
Not sure what's happening in Italy.

Such very different attitudes to stuff now, from Boris party on if you want to, we'll build some extra wards just incase, to shutting borders and making people second class citizens.

The initial reports from SA was omicron was less dangerous but ultra super spready.

Did the bold Boris follow the Science or did he take a gamble?

There is a real fear that we will get a super spready virus or bug and they've Cried Wolf too many times and people will ignore.
