We're in the same boat re holidays. We're doing our research and will book something for February as soon as it looks viable. Thankfully DC2 is now double vaccinated which will help.

I'm minorly hopeful our US trip (which is now on it's fourth attempt) will go ahead in the summer. DCs would have been 11 and 14 if we'd gone in Easter 2020, they'll be 13 and 17 by the time we actually get there, if indeed we do.

WouldBeGood · 05/01/2022 13:50

@RaraRachael DP was due to retire last September but decided against it as there’s nothing to do. His work is all from his home now and mostly not stressful so it seemed pointless.

I’m not booking anything as I get too disappointed when it’s inevitably cancelled.

I see England no longer requires a negative PCR for freedom if asymptomatic (as of 11th January)

@rookiemere

Oh and can't blame SG for Frenchies reluctance to let us in - that sits firmly with BG and point scoring.

It is interesting that all of Scotland's efforts to appear so terribly different from England hold zero sway when France or indeed any other European country deciding who to let in, Auld Alliance not having any impact.

Agreed we can't blame Scot Gov for France or Germanys decision to ban us.

That's because every other country knows that Scotlands extra cautious restrictions are flag waving our figures have never been much different to England's.
Then throw into the mix really we are one country with a border that doesn't really exist and the English people (and their bugs) would fly from the Scottish airports. Just the same as Scottish folk headed south to bring in the NY.

Britain should have one set of covid rules and be done with it. Multiple rules are confusing everyone and really it's making no difference to the figures.

Switched on to listen to wee Nic, my mood may go further down hill

mibbelucieachwell · 05/01/2022 14:14

Estimated 1 in 20 of Scottish population had covid last week acccording to ONS. 5%. Absolutely terrifying. I wonder if I could get a hazmat suit? I don't want to take any chances of getting a mild illness 7 long weeks after having my booster.

mibbelucieachwell · 05/01/2022 14:15

Here we go on the restrictions .

C'mon wee Nikki you can say it.....

But only if boosted I think she said so not clear to me what that means for under 18's who've only just had their second doses? Do they still have to isolate for 10 days - trying to listen while working so may have missed this bit.
mibbelucieachwell · 05/01/2022 14:23

Yassssss. Well done Nikki. A slow start but you're beginning to see the light. This makes me much happier about seeing pupils face to face. In these straightened times I appreciate my lovely pupils even more than usual. It means a lot to me.

mibbelucieachwell · 05/01/2022 14:24

If under 18 years and 4 months the new rules apply (I think)@TeenTraumaTrials
